Positive sides of outdoor learning

Positive sides of outdoor learning Essay "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." Benjamin Franklin In the last few years outdoor education has become more and more popular worldwide and in Estonia too. While there are many definitions for outdoor education, I think the best way to describe it would be outdoor education is a form of education, when learning takes place somewhere else than a classroom and the subjects are not only about the environment and nature but also linked to the national curriculum. Outdoor education often takes place on a walk around the block, a visit to the cemetery or a local post office. It can happen at a city zoo, on a forest trail, or in a national park. These kinds of locations are conducive to first-

Essee Eesti ja Usa haridussüsteedide võrdlus

TALLINN COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING INGLISE KEEL Essee Differences between Estonian and USA school and education systems. Juhendaja: Koostanud: 2009 Differences between Estonian and USA school and education systems. Question is, how different are our own and this big country they call United States of America's education. Or maybe there is no difference at all, and our systems about school and education are more similar than they appear at first sight. After reading all the materials and all sorts of notes about USA's education systems and their school household. All at once I realized, that they are not so different at all. Like for example USA's kids have to go to school exactly the same amount of time as our Estonian children. And basically learn same amount of same things.

A basic education is provided free of charge for young people in nearly all developed and democratic countries. However, when it comes to university, or higher education, there are many different approaches taken. In some countries (such as Finland and Sweden) higher education is still free. In other countries, higher education is purchased like any other service. In many countries (such as the UK and the USA), fees are charged to students but how much of the cost of education these cover varies greatly. Often governments offer loans and financial support to help students pay these fees. However, more and more people want to go to university, putting student funding systems under pressure. So should Governments charge fees for higher education, or provide it for free? Government should charge fees because it is well known that the `education' is often only a small part of the university experience. Students spend far too much time and

USA school system

USA school system Most children enter the public education system around ages five or six. They may begin in preschoolpreschool, kindergartenkindergarten or first gradefirst grade. They normally attend 12 grades of study over 12 calendar years of primary and secondary education before graduating, earning a diploma that makes them eligible for admission to higher educationhigher education. Education is only mandatory until age 16, however. There are generally five years of primary (elementary) school, during which students customarily advance together from one grade to the next as a single cohort or "class", three years of middle school, which may have cohorts, and four years of high school. There is some variability in the arrangement of grades. In the U.S., ordinal numbersordinal numbers (e.g., first gradefirst grade) are used for identifying grades

School system in the USA

School system in the USA Education in the United States is provided by government. Each of the 50 states has its own laws regulating education. Children start school at the age of 5 or 6 and continue until the age of 18. Primary or grade school starts from the first grade up to the sixth grade. Then students attend middle school also called junior high school for three years. After middle school, students attend secondary schools, which are called "high schools" from ninth to twelfth grades. The idea of secondary school is to get a high school diploma. Students should take on average 17 or over 20 units during their studies

If i were the minister of Estonia

If I were the minister of education in Estonia. Many people think that our school system is out of date and we should make it more modern. Even teachers and students say that some changes need to be made. Maybe our government should consultate more with poeple who know the real situtation when they create new laws. If I were minister of education I would deffenetly prefere American educational system to Russian. Because our new generation of children use English a lot more than Russian. In addition I would give more money to renovate our schools and raise also teatchers salary and students scholarship. This would boost up their motivation to give quality education to our children. Also i would invite more exchange students into our schools and send our children more often to learn in foreign countrys.

The importance of college

Nowadays many students decide to continue to higher education which means going to university after high school, in order to improve their prospects in further life. It is my considered opinion that higher education is necessary for a number of reasons. To begin with, people who lack educational degrees are more likely to be limited to basic jobs in service and manufacturing industries since today's job market is competitive and employers may not be interested in hiring candidates who do not have a degree. While employees with higher education have a better opportunity to get jobs with a lot of benefits and greater salaries.

Report

REPORT PURPOSE The purpose of this report is to compare the opinions of Estonian and British students about education. The report is based on 2 surveys carried out in Estonia and the United Kingdom. THE AIM OF CHILDREN’S EDUCATION As predicted all the Estonian children questioned, think that the main aim of children’s education is to prepare them for everyday life. Surprisingly 73% of the questioned British children think that the aim of children’s education is to prepare them for a career. Only 23% of the questioned British think that school prepares them for everyday life. The result surprised me because it showed that British kids and Estonian kids think very differently. THE SCHOOL UNIFORM Surprisingly, 17% of the questioned Estonian students approved the school uniform, for me it was surprising that so many approved the school uniform. Predictably, 74% of the questioned British students approved school uniform, which was expected, because

France school

The French education system is split into three stages: primary school (école), secondary school (collège) and high school (lycée). Primary and secondary education is free, neutral, secular and compulsory between the ages of 6 and 16. However, there are some private schools that are not subject to these obligations and particularities of the French education system. Nursery school classes accept toddlers at 2 or 3 years of age, starting in September. The children develop their basic faculties, improve their speaking skills and are introduced to the world of reading and writing, numbers and other key areas of learning. From age 6 to 11, the children attend elementary school which is mixed and freein the case of public (state) schools. The 'collège' accepts all pupils after elementary school without the need to pass an entrance exam

Work or university?

Whether you are going to work or study at the university. Now I would like to talk about their positive and negative sides. Firstly, I'd like to speak about going to work. Many people after finishing secondary school are going to work. One reason for this is that people have different abilities. Not everybody is suitable for university. The second reason is that perhaps they don't want to spend a lot of time on academic education. They are interested in particular profession which doesn't need an academic degree and want to move on with their life. Positive sides are that people can earn money and grow up faster. Negative sides are that it's not easy to get a job if doesn't have an education. Employees tend to prefer employers who have a good education and work experience. The second choice is to go to university after finishing secondary school. In Estonia, a lot of people are going to university

Report on the students` exercise preference

From: Mari Mets Subject: Report on the students' exercise preferences Date: 3rd April 2017 Introduction The aim of this report is to describe the changes in the students' exercise preferences, speculate on the reasons for the shifts and make recommendations for the sports centre on which facilities and training opportunities to include in the future. Female students Yoga and Pilates have remained the most popular exercise routines among the young women, who are acquiring education. From 2010 to 2015, the percentage of female students, who chose one of these two training programs, stayed at 45%. The reason for the lack of shift might be that the interests of the young women, who are acquiring education and practicing yoga or Pilates, have not changed. Male students Weightlifting has remained the most popular exercise routine among the young men, who are acquiring education. From 2010 to 2015, the percentage of male students, who chose this training program, stayed at 45%

Art-based learning

Art-based learning We can see that art-based learning is not a regular method in school. Although I barely can understand why. It seems to me, that it is rather interesting way of learning. I also would like to point out, that childrens emotional memory is strong and pleasant things will be understood and remembered more. Therefore I would like to discribe the method thoroughly. Only in the past few hundred years has reading been the primary way of teaching religion. For centuries, religious education relied on hearing and seeing. Religious education can benefit by returning to the ages-old methods of hearing and seeing to complement reading. This method enables you to make the old learning way-seeing available for the students nowadays. It is about deepening our understanding of faith. In times past, when people could not read, it was through pictures that they came to realize the glory of God's world and the meaning of the Bible(http://books.google.ee/books/about/Beyond_the_Written_Word.html

The Integration of subjects

The Integration of subjects The present-day school system revolves around traditional education, in which students learn each subject individually. This structure means that pupils don’t have the capability or know-how to connect math, biology or even art into their daily life. Even though the tutors of this conventional education have faith in the arrangement of subjects it is still entirely about high test scores, grades and graduation. The essence of progressive, alternative education like the integration of subjects is learning and the accumulation of valuable knowledge & skill.

Life in Estonia through the eyes of an economics student

However, according to the IMF, it is a developed country with an advanced and high-income economy. Estonia follows market economy system which ensures the little government intervention and the determination of prices of goods and services in a free price system. Therefore, economic decisions are guided solely by the aggregate interactions of a country's citizens and businesses. In addition to mentioned afore, Estonia tends to perform favourably in measurements of civil liberties, education, and press freedom. Living in Estonia has many of its good sides, for instance it is a secure place from nature disasters and it has a beautiful nature. Although, when not to look only through rose-tinted glasses, there are still some minuses in country’s organization. So, what are the beneficial and negative sides of living in Estonia? To start with, a big advantage is a great location between Scandinavia and prosperous Russia

Truancy in school – individual responsibility

becoming an adult. I find that the idea that it is only the responsibility of the parents that their child skips school is quite wrong because there are many stubborn and unpredictable children who just cannot be forced to attend classes and parents can do nothing about it even if they do want their child to study. The thing that parents need to do is to explain their children why is it important to attend the school and become an educated person and how education influences the life of the human being. But even if they fail to do that I think that it does not give the right to punish them. I think that in the UK the Education Act is too strict. According to the Guardian in November 2000 the maximum penalty for allowing a child to truant was raised from £1,000 to £2,500 and/or three months in prison. In Estonia the law is more loyal, the penalty is not so harsh. For example parents are not sent to prison and the amount of

University or work?

because this will help you on the road of choosing between work or university. If you choose to go to the university you need to know specifically what do you want to study and be sure of your decisions. Going to university may be expensive, because tuition fees can be high and you will probably need to take loans to pay it or even take a part-time job. But university definitely means higher salary and better education because most of the jobs require higher education or specific degree. Working is better than university in a way that you will be making money straight away and may start saving money to invest it in future. As well as you would only depend on yourself. But there are also cons: you will be manual laborer and you can do only these jobs which do not need any skills or university education. In that case people change their jobs often because they are constantly seeking jobs with higher salary.

How can the issue of intolerance be addressed by the government?

How can the issue of intolerance be addressed by the government? Intolerance in society is actually the intolerance of it’s individual members. Intolerance is rooted in fear and ignorance. People are afraid of the unknown, it is natural. But it can only grow, if it gets encouragement, either from parents, who are also ingorant or school, who just do not teach children any better. And fighting intolerance requires Law. Intolerance can be fought with education. Tolerance can be teached at an early age only, later it is difficult change a person’s values. And if intolerance starts with the fear of the unknow, education can help. Government should emphasise education more and more. Children should learn about tolerance and human rights and about other ways of life. School should teach children to always be open-minded. I think it is unequal, because some parents do not have enough money. So, what are the advantages and disadvantages of state and private schools. Firstly, there are many different facilities in private schools. For example, there are swimming pools, skating rinks, libraries, etc. I have heard that one school has its own drama class. Hariduse areng kaasaegses Eestis (J.Dewey)

1 Dewey, J. (1922). Democracy and education : an introduction to the philosophy of education. NY: Macmillan, pt 1 Juba 1916.a. väitis Dewey, et kuna elamine tähendab kasvamist, tähendab haridus tingimuste loomist edasisteks õpinguteks. Haridus ei tohiks lõppeda kooli lõpetamisega. Kooli ülesanne on kindlustada hariduse jätkamine läbi inimpotentsiaali avamise kasvuks. Kooli edukaim väljund on luua tingimused, et inimesed oskaksid ja sooviksid õppida elust enesest.
