Belling The Cat (Inglisekeelne luuletus koos tõlkega)

BELLING THE CAT The Mice once called a meeting to decide on a plan to free themselves of their enemy, the Cat. At least they wished to find some way of knowing when she was coming, so they might have time to run away. Indeed, something had to be done, for they lived in such constant fear of her claws that they hardly dared stir from their dens by night or day. Many plans were discussed, but none of them was thought good enough. At last a very young Mouse got up and said: "I have a plan that seems very simple, but I know it will be successful. All we have to do is to hang a bell about the Cat's neck. When we hear the bell ringing we will know immediately that our enemy is coming."

Opinion essay

There is no escape. -Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock (English film director and producer) I believe that in the previous quote Hitchcock expresses what he thinks about what the television is showing. In my opinion, he is saying that television is presenting a lot of violence and that people watching it are getting a bad influence. To begin with, I would have to agree with Hitchcock. Television really does promote violence, but there is still nothing being done. People, especially young children are still watching intense movies and cartoons. They are not understanding the reality that is before them. That is why I agree that television promotes violence. In the first place, in the past couple of years the number of violent children has increased by ten percent. That is due to badly influencing shows that are being shown on the television. Children are not understanding the boundary between reality and imagination. That is the real problem

My local supermarket

new. The smell in the supermarket is quite neutral, it is nothing special because it surely does not have the aroma of an outside market in the summer. The inside of the building is quite beat down as well but all the groceries are there and easy to find. I would definitely recommend it because if you want to feel nostalgic about the 80's or 90's, then that is the place to go. I will be going to go there every weekend like I have done so far because it makes me nostalgic about my childhood when I used to go buy candy with my friend every day.

Merde Actually

West, but there are also many other significant characters, that come from the previous book "A Year in the Merde". I can say that it would be better to read the first book of this series first, other wise some jokes and thoughts might stay incomprehensible. This novel starts with a description of how and where Paul West is going with his girlfriend Florence. As known, in France, the summer holidays are quite long for working class; therefore a lot can be done. Anyway, Paul and Florence start their holiday by going to stay in Florence's mother's country cottage, which is in Corrèze, almost exactly in the centre of France. Their journey to there is not quite without interruptions. In France, people do not really care about road regulations and they do not recognise the rule of the right hand. Anyway, they have to pass a roundabout and of course get into a car accident, where they are not to blame

some other prince, and being alone among your vassals and natural subjects, and having all my children at your royal court? I came to serve at the age of twenty-eight years, and now I have not a hair on my body that is not gray and my body is infirm, and whatever remained to me from those years of service has been spent and taken away from me and sold, and from my brothers, down to my very coat, without my being heard or seen, to my great dishonor. It must be believed that this was not done by your royal command. The restitution of my honor, the reparation of my losses, and the punishment of him who did this, will spread abroad the fame of your royal nobility. The same punishment is due to him who robbed me of the pearls, and to him who infringed my rights as admiral. Very great will be your merit, fame without parallel will be yours, if you do this, and there will remain in Spain a glorious memory of Your Highnesses, as grateful and just princes.

Apologies

or resestment felt by the person we have behaved badly towards. In the words of the Canadian cartoonist Lynn Johnston "An apology is the superglue of life-it can repair just about anything". However a recent survey suggests that in Britain the word ,,sorry" is being used in various situations where it doesn't have the traditional purpose of expressing regret for something a person has said or done. Arguably, the word is now being overused and might even be in danger of losing its meaning. Based on a sample of 1,100 people, the survey produced the statistic that the average British person will say sorry almost 2 million times in his or her lifetime. It found that on many occasions people use the word ,,sorry" to tell others that they don't have time to say or do something that was said (,,Sorry what was that?") or for( ,,exuse me") when they

Companys export readiness assessment

order to be able to offer combined packing solutions in bigger volumes. The importance of transport is directly related to the geographical and political position of the company. There is a time and planning issue when shipping goods to Norway because of geographical localization of Estonia as well as compliance with customs laws since Norway is not a member of The European Union. However, the company is familiar with these matters as they have done some packing work for Norwegian clients in past. Still, the on-site information is weak; contacts are insufficient and needs to be developed. Image depends on company's financial position and the successful marketing. The knowledge what the company has got from success on Swedish market could be taken in use when entering Norwegian market. Taking into account the specific nature of the Estonian market has the company also been successful in local market.

People who does not have their own life

I think everyone in their life has things that annoy them. So have I and I have lots of stuff that annoy me, maybe too much. In this essay it would be impossible to describe all of them, so I will try to explain the most irritating thing. I really can't stand people who stuff their noses into other people's things. For example when two people are talking privately and then the one interrupts them and asks: "What?", "When?", "Who?","Why?". If its done once, nobody cares but when someone all the time and everywhere needs to know what others are talking about well it's kind of annoying. And then there are these kind of people who smoothly move from one group of people to another group of people and collect any kind of information like bees collect pollen so afterwards they could tell everything they heard to their friends and to add some spice to the whole story they supplement some tiny details which they made up in their heads

Correlation between brand longevity and the diffusion of innovations theory

It was made known by Everett M. Rogers in 1960s. According to Rogers (1983, p. 6), ‘Diffusion is a kind of social change, defined as the process by which alteration occurs in the structure and function of a social system. The elements of the diffusion: o The innovation – a new object or idea, not necessary objectively new, but perceived new to one society. o Communication through channels – essence of the process is the information exchange, done through several channels/ in several ways. o Members of social system/ network – inseparable aspect as without members there is no communication. The transfer of ideas is easier in homogenous groups (same language etc). (Also, the norms and values of the system – culture i.e. – can inhibit the diffusion.) o Period – as change always takes times, it is natural that period in time is one of the elements.

Respect For Other People

In many European cultures, people shake hands. In others, such as in Japan people bow at the waist when meeting. Frequently, gender is a factor in how respect I displayed in bodily behavior. For example, woman in many Western cultures traditionally curtsy, whereas men bow. As a sign of respect in almost any form of the military is a salute. A salute is used by enlistees to show respect to the position held by officers and by officers to those of higher rank. The 21-gun salute is done within the military for funerals of military members and for high-ranking civilians such as the President. Sometimes the word respect can mean also toleration and tolerance. It means that we accept people who- and like they are. Does not matter what skin color you have, do you love men or women or are you religious or not. No one in earth is the same as I am and I am not the same like they are. I have the right to be different and like other people should

Should a man be a househusband

Should a man be a househusband? Should a man be a househusband? It is a pretty popular subject nowadays. The phenomenon of strong women is more and more urgent, whereas more and more men stay at home as househusbands. This phenomenon causes many people to wonder whether this is a positive change. If this is true, can it be done without having a negative effect on the family? In my opinion, a man should earn money for his family, but taking care of the house and kids should be women's chores, because every child needs mother's care and attention. Otherwise lack of it may be seen in the future and father cannot replace mother. Furthermore, men are not going to stand still and watch it uselessly. Most of them think of themselves as the family heads and they have an obsession about being the successful ones. But

Then she realized that it was Michael, a nice handsome guy from the beach party at last weekend. If it's not one thing, it's another. She stooped out of the car window to apologize. She had to hurry but wanted to be nice and polite. She said, "Sorry, Michael I didn't noticed you, are you okay?" "Yes, but I will be better if you'll come out with me tonight, would you?" asked Michael. "Sure!" "Well, then I'll come and pick you up at 7pm!" Then Sally drove away, thinking about what she had done. She promised yesterday to her 10-years old daughter that she will watch a movie with her and now Sally didn't know what to do, her agreeing was just a slip of the tongue. In the evening, when she reached to home from work, she lied and said to her daughter that she can't stay at home because she have to work. God helped Constance to overcome difficulties. King Alla, who helped to resolve Hernengild's husband murder met with Constance. Difference between themselves were that King Alla was totally adopted in Christianity. Over time King Alla understood how much good Christianity has done to Constance life and converted to Christianity. One day King Alla went to war and at same time Constance gave birth to their son who was named Mauritius. After the completion of the difficulties on land and at sea Constance arrived to Rome and she was thankful to God who helped her over time. God was most important in her life, she always fallowed the will of God and never lost her faith to God even when she had hard times.

quite small. As not to get fat, while sitting on an arm-chair, people could instead go to a library, borrow a book and go to a park and start reading. Everybody will notice the difference. They will think so well of themselves while doing more things at once: reading and enjoying themselves in the middle of nature. People should try to understand that the Internet is benefic to our life till one point. If the line is crossed and nothing else is done all day long, then they will ruin their health and their education will be damaged too. There are so many interesting things that can be found out from books, starting on how to behave and ending with the culture, tradition, customs of other countries. Books are the eyes that allow you to travel all over the world, to conquest the territories of the unknown. To sum up, the best advice I could give to people would be to partially give up the

Can you buy everything for money?

Can you buy everything for money? Money is a resource for which you can afford to buy anything, of course, if this is enough money. But they are also a lot of things (values) that you can not for the money. You can not buy friendship, family, acquaintances and loved ones much more. Money can be used as means of payment can shop in peace, by paying taxes, etc.. Coming back on the friends you can not afford to buy your friends, we do not pay for this, for us who they are. But between, we have a friend do something (to help), and for a small fee to give to a friend. In my opinion, as well as many others have money in the all-powerful, for it can get things done, you should not get in when it is earned. However, I need to stay alive. Money has grown to what it is today. It was originally just a matter of money, which can be converted or wood grain, it was the same as those of high value goods themselves. Bu...

Marriage vs cohabiting

the day they’ll just be emotionally and financially more damaged than when cohabiting. Many people choose cohabiting because it has basically the same benefits as marriage, only without it being official. I think that people who say they don’t see the point in marriage and don’t ever plan on marrying are not 100% sure about their partners or themselves and are afraid of the commitment of marriage. At the end of the day it’s just a lifelong promise to your other side and it can be done without spending much money. To sum up, I think that marriage is the best promise people can make to their other sides and I also think that it is right to live in cohabitation before marriage and to really get to know eachother.

Pay-for performance: necessary or unsuitable way to increase efficiency in the public sector

So pay-for performance would allow government to show that public sector employees are also being paid for the work they do- not the time they spend on doing a job. What pay-for performance would give to managers is that, it would make it easier for them to examine what exactly is that what they want their employees to achieve. So managers themselves need to carefully assess what it the desired outputs they need to achieve. It gives better focus on what needs to be done and how. Better focus on tasks goal giver better results on every level. But in many scholars opinion pay-for performance has many negative aspects that may over weight the positive effects. To begin with, as mentioned above pay-for performance idea is to motivate civil servants to perform better through monetary rewards. The problem is that this may reduce intrinsic motivation, the connection with the organisation and with the task is now based on money, not on public interest

Global warming

consequences too intensive animal raising and the arable lands that are made too fast for the nature to adjust. As I said before desertification eventually leads to global warming. Glaciers and permafrost have decreased dramatically on both side of hemisphere. In the future in the South-Europe the temperature in summers may rise so high that people will have to find temporary refuges in the mountains. I've thought about what should be done and I honestly don't know what to do to make the message clear to everybody, to people who actually have the power to make a difference. It comes to my mind that a difference can be made all together. People so far have acted careless and not thinking ahead too far in the future. There have been few who have tried to stand out and make others understand what they should, tried to show what has happened so far and what will happen if no action is taken under consideration. On one occasion the father found his son painting over his unfinished sketch of a pigeon. His genius as an artist was recognized by many peaople, but others were shocked by his strange and powerful paintings. He is best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work.. One of his most famous portraits was of the American writer Gertrude Stein. Something out of nothing

It makes us feel better about ourselves, if we can make our own rules from time to time. Let's say, that a musician is writing a song. He makes something out of nothing and he can't help it, he loves the idea of being almighty. Because let's face it, to that song, the writer is God. It is completely up to to the writer to say what's wrong and what's right. He can make up the lyrics and he can compose the melody and noone can tell him, what he should do, or how it should be done. He's making something entirely new out of nothing, so there are no rules and one can only use it's imagination to make it work. On the other hand, many people are just too lazy to make anything new. They just use things that are already there and don't even bother to think about creating something new and refreshing. They're happy with what they've got and don't need anything new and confusing. All things considered, though, I still think that people love making something out of nothing

Skills

Having the important skills, the best motivation you can think of and the attitude what cannot be crushed, would make anyone unbeatable. It might take a lot of time to achive the goals but trying to get to there where wanting to be will not stop it. Skills without motivation is nothing, same goes to motivation and attitude. There are some very open-minded employers out there who look beyond academic transcipts and grades and if they can see you are motivated to learn what needs to be done and have the right attitude then they might just be willing to give you a go. But you must be able to show just how willing you are when you speak to or meet your potential new employer for the first time. If you can use all of these 3 qualities then there ise a high propability that there is a bright future ahead of you. If you know how to use all of those abilities then having a successful life and well-paid job are not far away. There are employers who does not care about your grades

Environmental Issues and Sustainable Development in Estonia

Environmental Issues and Sustainable Development in Estonia We are all a part of the environment that surrounds us. Unfortunately, people do not always know how to take care of the things that are vital to our survivor but what we take for granted such as water, air and forests products. However, things have improved in recent years. What has been done to improve the environment in Estonia? People today are too lazy to think or to do something to protect the environment. They dump their waste into forests and even rivers which causes air and water pollution. Fortunately, people have come up with different organisations and events to help clean our envrionment. An annual event such as ,,Teeme ära!" motivates people to go out, spend time with friends and family and have fun while cleaning up the trash. This event first took place in

Environmental issues in Estonia

Environmental issues in Estonia The Earth is considered to be the most beatiful planets in the Universe. But our planet is threaten by environmental problems. Even a small country like Estonia can make difference. Our capital city is fighting against air pollution. But people produce much refuse and ways of recycling are getting old. Water pollution is also a problem in Estonia. We have factories that let their waste run into rivers. One of the biggest problems in Estonia is air pollution. Our air is polluted by exhaust fumes, because today we have a lot of cars, buses and other machines. In 2009 we had 407 cars to thousand inhabitants, which is lower than European Union average, but this number is still high. Because cars produce gases that contain carbon dioxide. This carbon dioxide in the air causes global warming, which is the result of the greenhouse effect. Tallinn wants to fight against it by offering public transportati...

How I take attending school seriously

´t have anything to do especially nowadays. Knowledge is everything. So if we woun´t go to school there is no way to get a step further. I am going to write why I take attending school seriously. First of all I think that when we woun´t go to school for a long periood, it is almost certain that we would be in trouble. If you have been absent for a couple of weeks then it will be very difficult to get all tests and homework done. Firstly you may not know anything about the things that are asked from you. Secondly, some people are sust too lazy to do the tests and because of that students will have very bad marks. If they are unlucky they also must go to school in summer because they have too many things undone. That alone is a really good reason to go to school. Who wants to spend their holiday at school. It would be a torture. Also one reason why I take attending school seriously is because of friends. Cause

Blu

Barnes was highly influenced by gospel and Christian rap when he was growing up. However, Barnes' was also influenced by gangsta rap that he received from his father, contributing to his delivery of conscious yet raw lyrics. In his early days in the music business, Johnson worked as a hype man for underground rap and soul artists such as Slum Village, Steve Spacek, Platinum Pied Pipers, and Emanon. Some of the earliest tracks by Blu can be found on the 2003 mixtape Bruised Brothers, done with fellow L.A. emcee Blacc also known as Jac Spade. Spade is also a producer and has worked with the likes of Planet Asia and Chali 2na. Blu signed to L.A. independent label Sound in Color in 2004, choosing the label ahead of other big name companies such as Interscope Records and Death Row Records. After Blu was introduced to Los Angeles based producer Exile by Aloe Blacc, Blu released his debut album Below the Heavens in August 2007. New York weekly newspaper The Village Voice called the

Women writer's influence on our society

She was a little sentimental, wrote about farmers, sailors and citizens life. Thanks to her creation we can learn about Estonia's life and early years of urbanization a lot. Third writer I am going to talk about is Aino Kallas. She lived 1878-1902. Actually she was a Finnish-Estonian writer. She came from Finland and then started writing in Estonian. She has later said that her problem was that she was trying to fix Estonia's problems, although it wasn't something she should have done as she originally was Finnish. She was really scandalous because she published her diaries. In her diaries she wrote about really personal things that most people would never let anyone else read if it were their life. She is also important because she wrote a lot about Hiiumaa. In a matter of fact she also lived on our island, Hiiumaa. One of her stories that talks about Hiiumaa is Hundimõrsija (The Wolf's bride). It's a werewolf story about 17th century Hiiumaa

New Zealand

and Hamilton . Arts: New Zealand art is visual art created in New Zealand or by New Zealanders. It includes traditional Maori art, which was developed in New Zealand from Polynesian artforms, and more recent forms which take their inspiration from Maori, European and other traditions. Maori visual art consists primarily of four forms: carving, tattooing (ta moko), weaving and painting. Ta moko is the art of traditional Maori tattooing, done with a chisel. Carving was done in three media: wood, bone, and stone. Arguably ta moko was another form of carving. Weaving was used to create numerous things, including wall panels in meeting houses and other important buildings, as well as clothing and bags. Although the oldest forms of Maori art are rock paintings, in 'classical' Maori art, painting was not an important art form. It was mainly used as a minor decoration in meeting houses. Traditional arts are practised througout the country. Sports:

Drugs and addiction

life events. There is no formal diagnosis of video game addiction in current medical or psychological literature. Use of the internet Internet addiction disorder (IAD), or, more broadly, Internet overuse, problematic computer use or pathological computer use, is excessive computer use that interferes with daily life. These terms avoid the distracting and divisive term addiction and are not limited to any single cause. Online activities which, if done in person, would normally be considered troublesome, such as compulsive gambling or shopping, are sometimes called net compulsions. Others, such as reading or playing computer games, are troubling only to the extent that these activities interfere with normal life. Supporters of disorder classification often divide IAD into subtypes by activity, such as excessive, overwhelming, or inappropriate pornography use, gaming, online social networking, blogging, email, or Internet shopping
