The Magic of Living

Arabella had lived with her aunt and uncle since she had been orphaned at the age of five, and over the years had become accustomed to living in Hilary's shade. Hilary was the daughter of the house and as such expected and got-everything she wanted. Arabella could quite see that she could hardly expect to receive the same attention for herself. She was 22 and a trained children's nurse. It was only natural that her aunt should consider her capable of keeping an eye on the twins. In one day Arabella wanted to go to the doctor's house for tea and game of tennis, but her aunt's hints at lunch had been strong enough for her to scotch this idea. She had resigned herself to entertaining the twins. She spent time with the twins and suddenly she heard Hilary speaking with her

MARGARET THACHER

what others said or believed to be better. She strongly believed in her decisions and never backed downs on a decision what she had made. Her terrible stubbornness is probably why she was such a success as a prime minister. When presenting her thoughts, she was laughed off numerous times not just because of her gender but also cause she was known as the daughter of a grocer. For her support she had a great friend and an assistant, who could be called her right arm. Their friendship formed out right from the beginning. We could not talk about Margaret as a prime minister, if it would not have been without his endless support and final push for her to become the prime minister, she had inside her. Margaret herself candidated for the position just for the fun of it, to shuffle thing up a little. But one day, as they sat down, he told her that it is not how it's going to go, that he will make sure the next Prime Minister will be her.

To Room Nineteen

Everything seems to be just perfect. When the youngest child went off to school, the seeming peace in this family is soon gone. Susan didn’t find the sense of freedom that she expected. She started thinking about herself she lost in her marriege life and was filled with emotions that were not inherent to her.. As she discovered that it was housework, children and husband, that made her lose her self-identity, she stared to hate everything in the house. Finally, she found a room where she could be alone and independent. In this room she forgot everything, nothing else mattered but her happiness. I enjoyed reading this book because it gave me many thoughts to think about. For example there is so many people, who have everything they have ever wanted and they still are not satisfied. And there are people who have nothing, but they are pleased and happy. This book proved that the most important thing in this life is to be friend with yourself, to find peace. I

The Palace of Versailles / Versailles' loss

THE PALACE OF VERSAILLES Versailles is one of the largest royal palaces ever built. This huge and magnificent palace started as a hunting lodge that was built for King Louis XIII in 1624. The small lodge was the beginning of an extremely huge palace that would cost the French government more then they could imagine. It is located in the city of Versailles, in northern France, 16 km southwest of Paris.  In order for Louis to have such a wonderful place he hired an architect named Louis Le Vau and a painter named Charles Le Brun. These two men made plans to build a palace that would, including gardens, cover a total of 37,000 acres. When this was completed, the king, decided it was not enough. Jules Hardouin-Mansart was hired to redesign parts of

Pay-for performance: necessary or unsuitable way to increase efficiency in the public sector

This kind of external motivation produces competition and this puts servants in a position- when they want this extra income they need to work harder, better and be the best. Driven from this, the main argument that pay-for performance supporters brings out is that, this tool will raise the quality of decisions. Either organisational or individual. It is believed, that through this kind of motivation civil servants will be more willing and motivated to do better work. So in very banal way we could say that if we pay more, or extra for civil servants they will do better decisions and they will work better. (Of course I believe that they should be doing this either way serving public interest). Other positive effects that pay-for performance has is that it would allow managers to weed out less effective employees. It would help to set hierarchy- and based on that reward employees more who are higher level and less those who are on a lower level of the ladder

I think the questions its less about the place and more about the people and their goals. But maybe the people's goals, reflects Russia's position in the world at the time, I think it was at the peak of its empire? The book could be saying something about the management of wealth? Those who relentlessly pursued wealth were in the most precarious position without considering peoples feelings (Hermann toward Lizaveta). Nicholas was ruling when it was written, he was oppressive and dictorial- could definitely be reflected in the countess- she's the centre of wealth in the book. The december uprising happened 10 years prior to the book, so Pushkin could have been inspired by the way authority could be challenged by

That shows that he was indeed a very clever man, he saw everything coming and thought ahead. He was very assured and he knew, what he was doing, he had it all figured out on his mind. He was, as a human, actually quite nice to some people, but he could not let anyone to interrupt his task, otherwise he killed them. The Jackal had to make many difficult decisions during the hunt, what were a matter of life and death and he always chose the one, which let him live. I think that in his private life he was very handsome and gentlemanlike. He tried not to link his private life and work, but in one case he did and that nearly cost his life. Christmas

A time when it feels good to give, when anger is forgotten, when heaven becomes a place on earth for a moment. We tend to think of Christmas as a time for children, but what if Christmas gives each of us the opportunity to be the child? To have wise men bring priceless gifts to us, to be held by an adoring mother and father, to feel that everything will be okay...forever. What if Christmas is a chance to start fresh? A clean slate. Instead of New Year resolutions, we could give the world our brand new selves. We could leave behind the mistakes, the regret and the hurtful words, all of it. Surely Christmas is a perfect time to start over, to make changes that matter and to turn our lives around. People celebrate Christmas differently from one to another. For example, my family celebrates Christmas by having a Christmas tree and decorating it. We also exchange gifts, sometimes go to church, and cook a big dinner, a really big dinner

The mysterious affair at styles

About the only interesting thing we can see in her life is an occasional tete-a-tete with the mysterious Dr. Bauerstein. Of course, she claims these meetings are totally innocent. The next suspect is John's brother Lawrence. He is a doctor who gave up his practice to live at home and pursue a writing career. Unfortunately, he doesn't appear to be much of a success at it. "He's gone through every penny he ever had, publishing rotten verses in fancy bindings," says John. Could there be anyone better than a doctor to know about the effects of strychnine and how to get it? And if he could control his own finances, Lawrence could publish a lot more of those "rotten verses," couldn't he? Cynthia Murdoch was the daughter of an old friend of Emily's and was left a penniless orphan when her parents died. Emily took her in and made Cynthia her ward. Emily keeps Cynthia jumping to obey her requests, which are actually just thinly veiled orders. Cynthia

School on cool!

SCHOOL IS COOL ! The pressure for teens nowadays is unprecedented. Especialy for those who have exams, musicschool or training. Sudenly we find ourselves asking why? why so much pressure, what`s the whole point ? Too many responsibilities are very frustrating. Even some rainy day could make us sad ! It`s easy to study in winter, because nothing is calling us out. In spring only thought is what will i do after school? Weather is warm again and sun can be very foxy! Another disturbing factor is " annoying classmates" . Some people just want to put up a show. They scream , yell ugly words to teachers and impede the schoolwork. Thanks to the yellers, teachers are mad and ofcourse they punish the whole class. This is also very depressing. Just admire teachers

Pet therapy

life  Even though pet therapy is only now being widely used, it is not a new idea. In the eighteenth century an English doctor, William Tuke, filled the grounds of a hospital for mentally disturbed people with chickens, rabbits and goats. At a time when people were usually punished for strange behavior rather than helped, this was a radical new approach to treating the mentally disturbed. Tuke's idea was that patients could learn self-control by caring for creatures weaker than themselves.  This is an idea which has persisted. In New York, horses, cows, cats and dogs were recruited to heal soldiers who had been wounded during World War II. These animals comforted the traumatized and helped the battle-scarred to avoid becoming obsessed with their injuries.  During the 1970's, scientific interest was rekindled by a study that had originally set out

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

to help create the world we dream of. It is unlikely that any of us will be the next Mother Teresa but every person has hidden power to do something that benefits to the society. People´s roles are nowadays as important as the next persons, even if they think that little things are insignificant and have no effect, with enough people these small things add up and make an even bigger change that any single organization or person could ever do. To be the change we want to see in the world, people do not have to be smart, rich or well educated. They need to have a dream and commitment. The problems facing the world today are great, and it will surely take the greatness of millions if not billions of people working together towards a common goal to overcome them. Changing the world does not happen overnight, but it would not happen by not making an effort either. “When

National Eye Institute, a federal agency. That number is expected to double in the next 30 years. Worldwide, about 160 million people are similarly affected. "With an aging population, it's obviously going to be an increasing problem," said Michael D. Oberdorfer, who runs the visual neuroscience program for the National Eye Institute, which finances several sight-restoration projects, including the artificial retina. Wide-ranging research is important, he said, because different methods could help different causes of blindness. The approaches include gene therapy, which has produced improved vision in people who are blind from one rare congenital disease. Stem cell research is considered promising, although far from producing results, and other studies involve a light-responding protein and retinal transplants. Others are implanting electrodes in monkeys' brains to see if directly stimulating visual areas might allow even people with no eye function to see.

Legend says the Toompea Hill is actually the tumulus mound of the great Kalev. Linda carried rocks to his grave. It is a naturally- formed limestone hill. Denotative and connotative meanings in motion graphics text

digitally in a computer and as the name refers bases on moving graphical elements. These elements can be images, text, graphical designs or a multidimensional imagery. But this term should not be confused with another term ,,animation". Line between these two is a bit blurred. Animation often is only giving life to the characters and scenery. Also, it can be done in real world with physically created sets. Motion graphics on the other hand can be only created in digital world and could include animation. But also there are more two very important aspects desing and cinematohraphy. Therefore when talking about motion graphics it means moving graphycally created elements in a beatiful way. Motion graphics is pretty recent platform compared to a graphical design for example. It evolved after computers were invented, hence it is only possible to it on computer. In modern times motion graphic is used almost everywhere feature film, advertising, short films,

As both asian and European markets use the internet more and more to conduct business, there will be an increasing need for language choice for the different markets.English is so often used on the internet that it might make you think everyone in the world speaks English, or at least give you the impression that it is the worlds most widekyspoken language. If this were true, it would, off course, bring benefits for worldwide communication and understandig, thought it could also possibly become a threat to cultural diversity.English certainly seems to be everywhere, from films to pop music and TV, and from 15 business to science and other fields. Character sketch Georgie, Sasha

Sasha awakens a deep sexual desire in Orlando. Orlando liked Sasha as an individual because at first he didn’t know what gender Sasha was, because she wore clothes that were not appropriate for a female and also she was quite tall for a common woman. But Orlando couldn’t overcome her seductive nature and also what made it harder was the fact that she spoke fluent french. What made Sasha so mysterious was that she was foreigner and she had deceptive manners. Orlando could never be sure what was on her mind. Sashas used Oralndo to entertain her while they were in London but then she left Orlando and ran away with a Russian seaman, that broke Orlando’s heart. But Orlando can’t forget Sasha because her seductiveness and she will remain in Orlando’s heart as long as he lives. In my opinion Sasha was deceitful, maybe a little bit of hypocritical, definitely misleading

Teenagers

Well at least I think so. And now some more specifics about teenage girls. There are all kind of teenage girls. Well, for exempel the ones who think that being a teenage girl is all about boys, drugs and alcohol, then there are ofcourse those sissy girls and neards, plus there are the ones who live THE most boring life, by the school, home, school, home routine. I think I’m kind of a mix al of them exept the neards and boring rutine part, I don’t think I could never ever devote so much of my time to learn and learn and learn, I am 100% sure that I would find a million better things to do with my time, but no judging, right? Couse I almost forgot about the everything-in-this-life-is-bad-i-want-to-die kind of girls, who claim thay have a depression, but in reality, the biggest disorder they have is called teenage years. You have to be honest, it is actually pretty funny time to time. And now a little bit of teenage every day life

I saw your advertisement in Yes! Student magazine. I am a 19 years old student from Estonian Art Academy and this job would be my second. For a year now I have been working as a babysitter for a family with two children (13-year- old boy and 5-year-old girl). I love working with children, especially with them, no matter what age. It is fun to watch them with happy faces doing something they like. I want to work in Ireland to get more experience. In the future I could see myself as an arts teacher in a school. Although I have some questions about it, such as could you tell me more about the place where the summer camp is. I would also like to know about time and salary, also what I would have to do there. I look foward to hearing from you again. Yours sincerely, Mari Mets Task 2 ESSAY Write an essay on the topic Books Today and Tomorrow. Surmanuhtlus

Stephen Chbosky - ´The Perks of Being a Wallflower´

Most of the people around the table looked uncomfortable. Some looked angry. His dad looked like he knew I was right, but he didn´t want to say anything because it wasn´t his family. Her mom was nervous about what her dad would do. Only one person at the table said anything. It was Charlies´ great aunt. She said: ´Amen.´ 7 What were Charlie's `Secret Santa ` presents for Patrick? Comment on his choices. How could Patrick know who the presents were from? A mix tape Charlie just knew that it should. Magnetic poetry Charlie thought it very fun. Watercolour paints and some paper Charlie thought Patrick might like them even if he never uses them. A harmonica and a book about playing it Charlie thinks that everyone should have watercolours, magnetic poetry and a harmonica. A book called ´The Major of Castro Street´ Charlie hoped it means something to

the entire farm. Ends with Pilkington sharing drinks with the pigs in Jones' house. Napoleon changes the name of the farm back to Manor Farm and quarrels with Pilkington during a card game in which both of them try to play the ace of spades. Snowball ● He devotes himself to bettering the animals in intellectual, moral and and physical ways ● Brings literacy to farm so the animals could understand animalism better. ● The “thinker” ● Made a plan for the windmill ● Made Seven Commandments for other animals to read. Napoleon ● Lust for power ● Presents himself as “with a reputation for getting his own way” o involves propaganda and terror which none of the other animals could resist. ● The “dictator” ● Changed the Seven Commandment - “ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL / BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS” Facts ● First published 17. Photographic camera

But it always required the photographer to craft the plates either in dark rooms of photographic studios or in portable laboratories. 6 How did it work? (HIGUERA) The scene was captured with a camera obscura focused onto a 16.2 cm × 20.2 cm (6.4 in × 8.0 in) pewter plate thinly coated with Bitumen of Judea, a naturally occurring asphalt, with a camera obscura by Niépce. The bitumen hardened in the brightly lit areas, but in the dimly lit areas it remained soluble and could be washed away with a mixture of oil of lavender and white petroleum. A very long exposure in the camera was required. Sunlight strikes the buildings on opposite sides, suggesting an exposure that lasted about eight hours, which has become the traditional estimate. A researcher who studied Niépce's notes and recreated his processes found that the exposure must have continued for several days. 7 photography firsts (SEBA)

Dey Bared to You RuLit Net

and when he didn't, I arched my neck back to allow my line of sight to rise. The custom three -piece suit hit more than a few of my hot buttons, but it was the tall, powerfully lean body inside it that made it sensational. Still, as hot as all that magnificent maleness was, it wasn't until I reached the man's face that I went down for the count. Wow. Just...wow. He sank into an elegant crouch directly in front of me. Hit with all that exquisite masculinity at eye-level, I could only stare. Stunned. Then something shifted in the air between us. As he stared back, he altered...as if a shield slid away from his eyes, revealing a scorching force of will that sucked the air from my lungs. The intense magnetism he exuded grew in strength, becoming a near tangible impression of vibrant and unrelenting power. Reacting purely on instinct, I shifted backward. And sprawled flat on my ass.

Correlation between brand longevity and the diffusion of innovations theory

decisions in the direction they (or their customers) wish. Stages of adoption Sequential stages of how the adoption decision is reached. 1. Knowledge – aka awareness, usually communicated through mass media 2. Persuasion – the individual is to be convinced by seeing others using it and seeing their problems being solved 3. Decision – the innovation is either adopted or rejected. If rejected, it could be adopted at a later time. Modern use of DOI ‘Underlying the DOI theory is that, in order to secure the successful diffusion of an innovation, it must be perceived as culturally relevant and appealing to the norms of the system one wishes to diffuse it into. This aspect applies to almost every area where the fields of communication, politics, marketing and public affairs are concerned.’ (Tina Gouws and George Peter van Rheede van Oudtshoorn p. 239)
