The Most Exciting Holiday of My Life

The Most Exciting Holiday of My Life About a year ago I went to Spain to spend a week of my summer holiday there. I was there with my family and with aunt and her husband. We were in a nice hotel near the beach. The second day I wanted to go shopping in the city but my parents disagreed. They suggested that we should go sightseeing. At last we found that we could go walk in the beach where also were many shops. But it was miles away, so we had to rent a car. We could rent a car from our hotel's reception. Unfortunately we were told that all cars were hired out. Then my parents suggested to spend the day swimming in a hotel pool, but I didn't feel spending my day like this. We found a place to hire cars near the hotel. The only available car was Citroën C1. This was really small, but our only choice.

Formal letter - about suicideterrorism lecture

Dear Mrs. Antia Luik January 23th We had a lecture on suicideterrorism and motives for suicide. It was a very instructive lecture, because I got a lot of new information about terrorism. Such information, which I did not yet know or have heard. I can use that information in our bibliographical and if lucky, the English language examination. Such lectures could be more, because terrorism is a situation which can be found in almost every country. Still the subject of terrorism, I would like to know more. I would like to know more precisely how to deal with situations if someone wants to commit suicide and kill others or have any advice on how to stay calm and help others. Or, how could help, who wants to organize a suicide. Your sincerely Karel Varik

The Avengers

This film is directed by Joss Whedon. Nick Fury is director of the film. Movie is starred by Robert Downey, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Rennel and Tom Hiddleston. Film is based on Marvel Comics. Film was made on Albuquerque, New Mexico. "The Avengers" isn't dubbed to Estonian, but it has Estonian subtitles. This film was nominated for an Oscar, but it hasn't won an Oscar. I think that peoples, who like superheroes, fantasy and action could watch "The Avengers", but before they could watch "The Iron Man","HULK"e.t.c. I liked this movie, because this movie is action-packed and has fantasy too. I like that thay did teamwork to beat bad guys.

Giving opinion

4. If you ask me, _______ 4.0 GIVING YOUR OPINION ABOUT A TOPIC 4.1 Expressing a strong opinion In my opinion, fashion is a complete waste of time, money and resources. In my opinion, there's only one choice - English! In my view, government money shouldn't be used to support the Arts. In my reckoning, if we could lock up juvenile criminals, they'd learn that they couldn't get away with it. I strongly believe in preventing problems before they happen. In much the same way as the Japanese prepare for earthquakes, countries with dry climates could have water catchment systems and reservoirs to defend against water shortage. I definitely think that countries should be self-sufficient in food and basic necessities. Don't you think it's better to stay single?

George Orwell "Animal Farm" essay - "Human nature exposed in the novel"

A lot of it is connected to people's constant need of power and control. "Animal Farm" is a book that reverberates that kind of human nature through politics, dictatorship and power, but in nowadays' World this kind of behaviour occurs also in our everyday life, not only politics. First of all humans are in a constant need of power. The essence of the power does not even matter as long as they have some kind of control. It could be control over some group, over a person and his mind, actions and thoughts or just over a certain situation where we want to gain a higher role so everything could be under their command. People are willing to do everything to get others under their control. In "Animal Farm" Napoleon's first act to gain his leadership was the betrayal of his fellow leader and friend Snowball. Napoleon and Snowball did not agree on their views of leading

A complaint letter

6 March 2014 Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing in order to complain about your product I bought. It is an i-phone, which I ordered from an online shop. A week later it stopped working properly. First of all, the on/off button is broken and does not let me open my phone. The screen colour of the device was also unacceptably almost black and white. In addition to this, the sound was a little bit off and I could no adjust it in the settings. For some reason I also could not see my messeages at all. No only the screen was borken, the camera was not working either. I suggest that you explain all that, replace the item or give me a full refund. I look foward to receiving your explanation. Yours faithfully, Mari Mets

Book Report: The Spare Room

I read a book called The Spare Room. It is written by Helen Garner who is an Australian writer and journalist. She was born on 7th November in Geelong and now lives in Victoria. This novel has won several awards and that's one of the reasons I chose to read it. The Spare Room talks about a 64-year woman Helen who lives in Melbourne, Australia. One day, her friend Nicola who lives in Sydney calls and asks if she could stay with her for three weeks. The reason she calls is that she is a cancer patient who needs to be taken care of. As they have been friends for a long time, Helen gave her consent and welcomed Nicola in her home. In Melbourne Helen also has a treatment in an institution called the Theodore. Chemo hadn't worked on her and that is why she is looking for new options to heal though the cancer is already in stage four. In that institute she gets weird kind of treatments, for example

Letter of complaint

Dear Sir, I am writing to you to complain about the china figure I ordered from you three weeks ago. I must regretly announce, that your advertisement was wrong in many ways. Firstly, the figure which I ordered was told to be delivered within ten days. But I received it after three weeks and due to that, I could not hand it to my friend in time. Furthermore, there was a crack on one side of the figure; so as a consequence, it also did not look the same anymore because of it. And the gold plaque, where you engraved my message was completely wrong. That is why I could not gift it to my friend after all. As you can imagine already, I am quite disappointed about your company. I also feel that I have certain rights to receive a refund in addition to an apology from your company manager. I

London the new Babel

judge someone just because he or she is different from you. There are also people who don't mean to be impolite but tend to be because of their lack of knowledge. For example it is easy to mix up Japanese and Chinese. At the same time a simple mistake like this may hurt another person's feelings. Also when a person comes from a different society where different names for coloured people have different values. For example if one comes from Estonia where calling dark skinned people "black" could also be interpreted as they were filthy then he or she could easily offend someone by calling them "negro". In another language it is the polite way but in London it isn't. I think it would help to do some research before travelling and not to refer to coloured people with nicknames but with their real names. Racism is a serious problem not only in London but everywhere where different races meet. I don't think it has a solution but it could help to teach young

SPEECH: Attitude rather than aptitude is the key to succsess

Because it would be dissapointing to work really hard and alwats stay on the same level/ you probably wouldn't get far. Successful people know what they want to achive. They have a clearly defined goal. They are constantly seeking ways to learn and improve. A positive attitude or a constructive and optimistic way of looking at yourself and your work goes hand in hand with succsess. Actually all of us have enourmous potential, but lot of us are too lazy to take advantage of it. We could accomplish MUCH more if we are just willing to work on it. Nowadays is possible to do almost anything and to go almost anywhere. The world in front of us is big and wide and so are the options. The aptitude doesn't play as big role as attitude. You need to be diligent and consistent to achieve anything. The odd thing is, the more further you get and the more you learn, the more you feel and see, that you ACTUALLY don't know most of what you COULD do and know.

Should smart devices be banned in the classroom?

Students have them all over the world. The disadvantages of banning smart devices are several. Cellphones can be very useful if used for the right purposes. When smart devices are banned then students can’t use their smart phones for looking up information, or knowing what homework is and can’t use them for dictionaries or calculators. The advantages of banning smart devices are more than advantages. When tabs, smart phones or computers are banned then also students could not cheat on a test by looking for information on the Internet and they could not get distracted on their devices by being socially active by texting on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or playing games. In my opinion of banning smart devices is a good idea because students will be a more alert to be aware of the teacher. The students will use their brain more efficiently when they don’t have access to easy search technology through their phone.

My ideal school

My ideal school I am sure everyone has their own idea of what an ideal school is.It is a place where you can feel comfortable to learn in. My ideal school would be situated in the middle of a city so it is near to shops, cinemas and theatres. Around the school would create running tracks, football places and facilities for every sport you could think of. There would also be a huge park for the pupils and public to enjoy together. Each classroom would be fitted with the most modern computers. Only twenty pupils would be in a lesson at one time so that the teachers could pay attention to each pupil. White boards and projectors would be available in every classroom. In my ideal school students would have large amount of technology. I would love for all students to have use the iPads

Videvik(kogu raamat Inglise keeles)

It was to Forks that I now exiled myself-- an action that I took with great horror. I detested Forks. I loved Phoenix. I loved the sun and the blistering heat. I loved the vigorous, sprawling city. "Bella," my mom said to me -- the last of a thousand times -- before I got on the plane. "You don't have to do this." My mom looks like me, except with short hair and laugh lines. I felt a spasm of panic as I stared at her wide, childlike eyes. How could I leave my loving, erratic, harebrained mother to fend for herself? Of course she had Phil now, so the bills would probably get paid, there would be food in the refrigerator, gas in her car, and someone to call when she got lost, but still... "I want to go," I lied. I'd always been a bad liar, but I'd been saying this lie so frequently lately that it sounded almost convincing now. "Tell Charlie I said hi." "I will." "I'll see you soon," she insisted

There were many tries until they managed to get past the alarm system and the men with tranquilizers. The successful escape happened late at night so they didn’t get to take much and because they were away from the rest of the world they didn’t have a lot of money. Even though the conditions were not that great, they held on and ran as fast as they could. The group of three had to find a safe place so Simon could find his father, who was also a sorcerer and could help them and give a place to stay. At the same time the nurses and men, who guarded the Lyle House, were searching for them. In some point of the journey the children split and the girls went to Chloe’s aunt, who she grew up with, but on the way there, Chloe got hurt and was losing a lot of blood. Essee Eating disorders

Eating disorders According to the medical dictionary, eating disorders are a group of behaviors often fueled by unresolved emotional conflicts symptomized by altered food consumption. The most common types of eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Why do some people start with such harmful nutritional habits? Firstly, one reason for this could be media. Advertisers heavily market weight-reduction programs and present anorexic young models as the paradigm of sexual desirability. Also, clothes are designed and displayed for thin bodies in spite of the fact that few women could wear them successfully. Another thing to mention is genetic factors. According to studies, anorexia is eight times more common in people who have relatives with the disorder. This disease will become apparent after some kind of psychological shock.

If i would have a big garden i would be happy. My wife could work in the garden. My ideal home would have 2 floors with a basement. In the basement there should be a big room where i could relax. There should also be a gym and a sauna. That room should have a big couch around the room and a big table in the middle. On the ground floor there should be the kitchen with the latest technology. The fridge should be full of food. The living room should also be on that floor. It should have all comforts. The first floor should be the floor where are the bedrooms. There should be my and my wifes bedroom and our childern bedrooms. Also there should be the guests room.

Is there a place for libraries in future?

books. But what do young people think about libraries today? Millions of people around the world enjoy reading and in my opinion it will continue. I am convinced that we will always need in a library. Since childhood people learn to read, have fun and play, study and do homework at libraries. There are so many very great books, and every year their number increases. May be someday people will even start building libraries on the water. Then we could not only read books but also rest and travel. On the other hand libraries could be built for example as hotel. Surely this library will be very popular. May be people would live there until you read the book through. Accordingly you will not have to carry books here and there and it is one more reason to think about building this library. In conclusion, I personally believe that books will become more popular and there is a place for libraries in future

Computers in every classroom

Computers in every classroom Nowadays computers are becoming more and more unavoidable. We read newspapers from internet, make bank transfers, work and study with them as well. Although computers are making our lifes easier I do not support placing computers to classrooms. Firstly, when students sit in front of the computers from lesson to lesson then their scholastic proficiency will degenerate because they will surf on the internet, chat on MSN and so on. It is doubtless that computers in classroom scatter students attention. Furthermore, computers damage students health. The rays what computer screen vomit are very harmful, so staring at computer screen too much will cause intense damages to people eyes. So from that viewpoint it is absurd to put computers to every classroom. On the other hand, computers in every classroom would make students life easier. They could take notes by computer and a...

How can we make our cities more environmentally friendly?

some workmen building big houses. If we improved public transport or made electric cars, our streets wouldn't be so polluted. In Tallinn, for example, the air there is so polluted, that you can hardly breathe there. If the authorities put bins everywhere in the streets, our cities would be cleaner. The second thing is, that people still drop litter on the ground, even if there is a bin somewhere nearby. If we didn't build so much houses all around cities, we could save money from that and better build animal parks, green areas and playgrounds for children. If there were more green areas, people would have more oxygen. All in all, we must understand the importance of oxygen and where must litter go, then we could have better atmosphere and people wouldn't be worried about their health.

The Count of Monte Cristo

Faria hid all these tools behind two separate rocks in his cell. All of these things show how smart Faria really was. Faria's intelligence is what helps Dantes make his transformation. "There is a maxim of jurisprudence which says, `If you wish to discover the guilty person, first find out to whom the crime might be useful.' To whom might your disappearance be useful?" This quote makes it apparent to Dantes that it wasn't just a big accident that he went to jail. When Dantes found this out, you could see an immediate change in his character. After Dantes gets the treasure that Faria gave him, he starts to put his plot for revenge into action. The first thing Dantes does after he gets the treasure is to change into the Count of Monte Cristo. Dantes seems to be smarter, wittier, and wiser as the Count of Monte Cristo. As the Count, Dantes' first move is to make a good impression on Albert so that he can get to Paris and work from there

Through the Looking-Glass

Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll The BLACK kitten had once again made a mess in the living room with a ball of worsted you see it could have not been the white kitten, Snowbell, as she was having her face washed by Dina. Alice caught the black kitten and settled into an arm-chair to wind up the worsted again. Soon forgetting all about it she started wondering if Kitty could play chess. And thus her favourite game of "Let's pretend" started. Suddenly the Looking-Glass House caught Alice's attention. She had always been wondering about the Looking-Glass world. It was so tempting. Without even noticing she was on the mantelpiece and through the looking-glass. The room was quite uninteresting and untidy. But there were some interesting things the pictures on the wall were alive and so were the pawns

The Venice Carnival

The Venice Carnival The carnival takes place in Venice, Italy at the beginning of S. Stefano Day on 26th December and ends at the beginning of Lent. In the old days in the 14th and 15th century it took place so the local venice people could earn money and have a fun time during the carnival. The origin dates back to 14th century. During those years the first laws made by the Serenissima was that masks cannot be used around the city at night. The meaning for the people was that all the people were at the same level, because no differentation could be made between nobilty and the common people. The carnival don't have much preporations, the only preporations were made by the local people who prepeared their restaurants, theaters

Report

Subject: Suggested improvements to school Date: 1 Decembre 2009 Purpose The purpose of this report is to comment conditions in the school and to make recommendations for possible improvements. The survey has been conducted among our class students. Canteen Firstly, the canteen`s food prices are too low and service is very slow. It would be a good idea to mark down the price of food and to put meals on the table before lunch break. As result service would be faster and more students could afford eating school lunch . Library Furthermore, the majority of the students (56%) are not agreed with library opening hours and range of books. By buying more books and changing library opening hours, we could solve the problem. Teachers` teaching styles Last, the minority of our class students (22%) do not like the teachers` teaching styles. Teachers should explain more clearly what they exactly want from students. In this way all the students would accept the teachers` teaching styles.

I was hoping that you could help me answer some of my questions. I have a lot of experience in construction work and also as a salesman, I have worked in several other jobs as well. I will send you my complementary CV later. First I would ask you what type of jobs do you have available in California? It doesn't have to be a construction or a salesman job, it could be something else too. About accommodation, how is it arranged, how much does it cost and how far away is it from the job location? I

Should Cloning Be Banned ? essee

animals and plants. One of the most famous cloning processes involved a sheep named Dolly. The sheep was the first mammal cloned from adult DNA. Since then it has become part of real life and the subject of public debate. For some people, human cloning is acceptable in medicine in spite of the criticism that it is repulsive. Firstly, cloning the organs can save many lives. For example when a person needs an organ and can not find a donor, doctors could just give her the cloned organ. People would not need to donate their organs anymore. Secondly, parents who can not have children may wish to clone a child for themselves. Also endangered animal or plants could be cloned to rise their species. On the other hand, there are also many arguments againts cloning. Most cloned animals suffer severe medical issues and many die prematurely. The same problems would happen in human cloning and many scientists

The advantages and disadvantages of getting some work experience as a teenager.

The advantages and disadvantages of getting some work experience as a teenager. Many teenagers want to have their pocket money, but to work at this age they can not, because to go to school. Teenagers age and there fore they can not find a good job. Especially for teenagers were invented volunteer work, where they could work and earn money for themselves. But in volunteer work are the advantages and disadvantages. Firstly the first advantage is that teenagers can earn money by doing, so they can afford do buy what they want. For example a girl can buy a dress that has long wanted, but buy can buy new shoes. The second advantage is that the teenager did not come to work full day, and he could see his friends. The third advantage is that teenagers can go to work in another country. But all is not well.

If I were a boy

I think that almost every girl have thought sometimes that boys are stupid and they doesn't understand girls. So if I were a boy for one day, I would give my best to be the perfect boy and would try to avoid the mistakes that I think mostly the boys do when they hurt a girl. But definately that day would help me see the world as the way boys see it. And I think that day would help me a lot in my following life because probably I would understand the life better beacause I could see it from different corners. If I could experience one day as a boy I think without doubt it would change many things and viewpoints of my life. Definitely I would like to have a day like this. And also I would like to know how and why did you start thinking to this kind of theme? Hope you write back soon. Regards, Paula .

The Universe according to Douglas Adams

This was achieved by getting distracted enough so one would not acknowledge the fact that one was flying. Drawing any attention towards oneself was not recommended, as the laws of gravity would notice and instantly drop one back to the ground. Interstellar distances were crossed using the Bistromathic Drive. The whole idea behind Bistromathics was that space depends on the observer's movement in restaurants. As Adams had specified, it relies on three nonabsolute (meaning that they could be anything) numbers: the number of people for whom the table is reserved, the given time of arrival and the relationship between the cost of the items on the check and the amount that people are prepared to pay for (47, 48). The most satirical idea Adams had come up with was the Somebody Else's Problem (shortened as SEP) field. SEP is actually a quite simple concept: individuals often ignore issues that are of relative or critical importance

What is needed for good society

some people, but not for anyone. In the world generally I still do not know any place where you can see all the people owning all of these things. So we are doomed. Some thoughts I found at internet: “If there are homeless people on the streets while rooms in mansions sit empty, we do not have a good society.” “If some are idle while others work too much, we do not have a good society.” Accessibility to other desirable Items means that there is also other basics that could be desired by nearly everyone. These items are like: tasty food, comfortable housing (with furniture, running water, and electric lights), transportation, a clean and healthy environment, healthcare, meaningful work, regular exercise, rejuvenating leisure, fulfilling relationships, family, and a close-knit community. None of these things are not essential, but life without these is not that fun. A good society would enable for

What are the responsibilities of and challanges to the Freedom of speech in the 21st century

many his fellow pupils and himself too. This disaster took place because other pupils taunted and japed him. Religion is in the 21st century very disunited. This makes society acceptive to every little suasions. At the same point education is very easy to get. And when some malevolent human studyes psychology, can he or she manipulate whit other humans and that way he or she can create his or her new religion. And the end of this religion could be very tragic and it could end with very many deaths and suicides, just because somebody tells it is the only right way. For example in the Guyana jungle were founded 914 corpses. They were reverend Jim Jones commanded Folks Temple sects members. Jim Jones used academic psychology to manipulate with them. Abnormal freedom of speech gives in economy big opportunityes to cause a big changes. For example advertisement in tv, journalism and at the streets. When everywhere will be glorifyed

Letter of application for a language course

fluency in English. I love studying in English, hence, I would like to attend a university, where all the courses are taught in English. Therefore I would like to attend this university because of the English-speaking environment. I feel that this is an amazing opportunity which will surely turn out to be an enriching experience for me. I have great expectations from studying abroad because of the element of internationalism. I think that a larger view on the world could give the chance to be more productive in my whole life. Living abroad could give the chance to prepare better for my future career. About the fact that I would have to stay far from home, I do not feel that it would be much of a problem because I have the ability to adapt to various situations. I also have experience with living abroad- I was an exchange student in the Netherlands for a year and I have also worked and lived in the USA for three months.

Education

in Im going to discuss if students should study only those subjects they are interested in or not. Nowadays students are quite lazy and do not want to study or go to school. They think it is boring and parents work really hard to make them study. Also, a lot of students think that the majority of the subjects they are learning are pointless. But actually none of those are pointless and every thing has a reason. In addition to that, if students could choose the subjects themselves, then some classes would be really empty. For example, a lot of students do not like maths or reading. Math develops logic and then we could imagine how many people would be without logical thinking. And reading books enriches vocabulary, so if people do not read books at all, their vocabulary would be quite small. On the other hand, learning different things like history and bilogy expand people's knowledge greatly
