Paul Graham, “Hackers

Paul Graham, “Hackers & Painters” A Summary In “Hackers & Painters, Paul Graham, computer science expert and painter, explains examines what motivates computer programmers to do what they do, as well as attempt to answer many of the questions that have arisen with computers. He explains the word “hacker” has more than the one definition most of us are familiar with. The hackers who Paul Graham refers to throughout the book are the good computer programmers who have made all that we have real. Graham's first chapter, "Why Nerds Are Unpopular," tries to explain why smart kids are at the bottom of the food chain in high school and what their priorities are. While writing about nerds, Graham talks about his own progress to become computer scientist and painter

WE NEED PAPER BOOKS We really need paper books. Now a days, most of teenagers think that studying by a computers or mobile phones is much more useful, but actually ist's not. A lot of people spend their time at home using a computer, when people start doing it in schools too, they are going to be blind soon, because it affects your eyes. People should really think about their future more. I understand if you are doing some schoolworks on the computer, but definitely not all of those. Should smart devices be banned in the classroom?

lives, we can see them everywhere. Students have them all over the world. The disadvantages of banning smart devices are several. Cellphones can be very useful if used for the right purposes. When smart devices are banned then students can’t use their smart phones for looking up information, or knowing what homework is and can’t use them for dictionaries or calculators. The advantages of banning smart devices are more than advantages. When tabs, smart phones or computers are banned then also students could not cheat on a test by looking for information on the Internet and they could not get distracted on their devices by being socially active by texting on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or playing games. In my opinion of banning smart devices is a good idea because students will be a more alert to be aware of the teacher. The students will use their brain more efficiently when they don’t have access to easy search technology through their phone.

My ideal school

I am sure everyone has their own idea of what an ideal school is.It is a place where you can feel comfortable to learn in. My ideal school would be situated in the middle of a city so it is near to shops, cinemas and theatres. Around the school would create running tracks, football places and facilities for every sport you could think of. There would also be a huge park for the pupils and public to enjoy together. Each classroom would be fitted with the most modern computers. Only twenty pupils would be in a lesson at one time so that the teachers could pay attention to each pupil. White boards and projectors would be available in every classroom. In my ideal school students would have large amount of technology. I would love for all students to have use the iPads. I think if students get to use something like the iPad it allows students to do work with a fun. To sum up, I think students can study well in this good environment.

By the year 2050 people will be living longer because scientists will have found cures for many diseases. By the year 2050 we will be going to other planets because space travel will have improved. By the year 2050 we will be doing more creative jobs because computers will be doing the most boring jobs. By the year 2050 there will be no more rainforests as we will have cutted them all down. By the year 2050 people will be living in cities under the sea because normal cities become too crowded. By the year 2050 there will be more poor people as there will be fewer jobs. Not remarkable, you might think, especially given that he lives near a forest. But birdsong in the Jones household is usually drowned by a tidal wave of electronic music crashing around the house as soon as his four children wake up. This is a family who have chosen to fill their home with every conceivable gadget. They have nine television sets, including one in each bedroom and in the kitchen. All the children have their own personal computers and CD players. Of course, there are all the usual appliances we all take for granted, such as the washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, deep freeze, microwave oven, and video recorder, but they also have an electric trouser press, two power showers, an Olympic-sized spa bath and jacuzzi, three cars, and a music system which plays throughout the whole house. Pros and cons of technology

Pros and Cons of Technology Today we are so used to live surrounded by technology. We could not imagine our lives without it. But what are the pros and cons of technology? Time is money. Of course those wonderful inventions can save our time and nowadays when the pace of life is very fast, it is so important. In my opinion the communications technology is the most valuable, because it makes possible to resque people who need help. A development of transport is also important in this field. But the fact is that people are getting lazy. Machines do all the work for the people. We just sit and watch machines doing our duties, unfortunately it is so harmful for our health. Computers, the internet and social networks they all put up a wall between real-life communicating. People can not speak and write correctly, because they are usind slang every day on the internet. It is quite impossible to avoid technology, we are forced to use it, fo...

Sport has many positive effects on people besides having a fit body. There is a saying that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Team sports show and teach how to work in a group, how to communicate. People who play sports can release some energy in the game also and they will be calmer, their decisions will be more calculated. Modern electronic games

Essay: Modern electronic games Electronic games have become very popular among people of all ages nowadays due to the easy access to computers, consoles and internet. They are mostly frowned upon by adults, because they do not seem to find any positive aspects about them. But are electronic games really that bad for you? Of course, like anything else, video games can be addictive, which may lead to eye damage. The impact of excessive visual medium is evident as a large number of children these days start wearing spectacles from an early age. Long hours of playing can also result in headaches and dizziness.

Scientific research continues to explore the fields that people previously undreamed of. Fifty years ago, few people could even imagine things like computers, lasers and space-scuttles. Now all these newly invented technologies are benefiting people all over the world. In a word, advanced science and technology has made man master of the globe. As is known to all, each coin has two sides. When we are enjoying the remarkable wonders which science and technology has brought us, we are suffering at the same time from a lot of troubles. Most needed professions in 21st century in Estonia

21st century century when the world around us changes faster than ever before. With that accompanies different changes in our everyday lives. Nowadays there is growing demand in highly qualified workers and not only in big empires but also in smaller countries like Estonia. In Estonia the most needed professions are connected with computers, different hi-tech machines and healthcare. Firstly, in my opinion the biggest deficit is in doctors. The main reason for that might be that the studies take a lot of time, sometimes about 10 years, which means that we can start working at the age of 28 to 30. Another reason could be that doctors are in my opinion very often underpaid and with that comes up another problem. In hope to get bigger salaries they often go abroad leaving our

important. It increases knowledge and expands vocabulary, which integrates to writing. Reading books makes a person more intelligent and it gives a different perspective. Nowadays people tend to read less books than they used to. The main reason for this catastrophy is the development of technology. People would rather watch moving pictures in the television than pick up an old book covered in dust. In the past, when there were no television or computers to entertain people, books were basically the only amusement. On the other hand the lifestyle of ours has gotten tremendously busy and some do not find the time to just sit back and relax by reading. With the development of technology, people will become more lazier which may result in the lack of reading. Printed books will be replaced with e-books, print media with social media and so on. pictures of the victim. Sometimes the youngsters are too gullible and they do as told. The consequences might be very extreme. There have been cases where the victims find photos of themselves naked on the Internet. The worst part is that sometimes they can't handle the pressure and commit suicide. Due to the constant improvement of technology there are many hackers online, who create viruses to hack into other people's computers. Often are the users of the web too curious: they open suspicious links and click on the wrong ads. This may result in hackers breaking into the victims computer to make profit in their own way.Thankfully various anti-virus software is always being updated. The Intrenet most definitely posesses more different threats, that's why people should think ahead of what they post online. One small wrong step might result in a catastrophy.

Xeon - A line of Pentium II chipsets from Intel introduced in 1998. Unlike previous Pentium II chips, which used a Slot 1 form factor, Xeon chips use Slot 2. This allows for faster data transfers between the CPU and L2 cache. Xeon chip speeds start at 400 MHz. Cache - Pronounced cash, a special high-speed storage mechanism. It can be either a reserved section of main memory or an independent high-speed storage device. Two types of caching are commonly used in personal computers: memory caching and disk caching. A memory cache, sometimes called a cache store or RAM cache, is a portion of memory made of high-speed static RAM (SRAM) instead of the slower and cheaper dynamic RAM (DRAM) used for main memory. Memory caching is effective because most programs access the same data or instructions over and over. By keeping as much of this information as possible in SRAM, the computer avoids accessing the slower DRAM.

Essee "Teenager and pocket money"

Should teenagers nowadays earn their pocket money. Many children earn their pocket money by doing some jobs at home, but lots of them do not need to work for it. I think that it depends on the specific children whether his/her parents should pay him/her. My parents do not give me money for bringing firewood or mowing the lawn. They have never paid me for such jobs and I think I would feel rather bad if they did. I have understood that I need these domestic jobs done as much as everybody else in my family. My mother doesn't get paid for feeding me, so why should I be better than her. I know a family where one of the children gets paid for simple domestic jobs and the other does not. It seems unfair to me. On the other hand, I find that getting paid for chores could be rather good motivator for younger kids. In the world full of computers and TVs we are getting lazier day by day. Children nowadays may need this motivating. If ...

We are having phones, full on different features, with last ten years, almost every family have their own computer and in some countries everyday food is changed with genetically modified food. But how our life can be changed after hundred years? In 2112, we are living in Earth. We are not using air, because after air pollution, it is dangerous for people to breathe it. We are definitely driving with aircrafts, because we ran out of fuel over 50 years ago. Because Earth is very polluted, there isn't any way to grow food. All food is made in factories from plastic and other chemical stocks, so they are not very healthy. Poor people live only about 20 years old, because people get their vitamins and nutrients, to be live, only from chemist's. All cars are converted to aircrafts. Engineering products and equipment manufactured in Estonia range from cables, mobile phones and computers to security equipment for cars, laboratory equipment, different hoists and other equipment for different industries. English essay The Future of Education

There is also a chance that Teachers will have an easier job in the future, they will instruct the students only if needed. Also on the horizon are smart objects. These objects are geared more to small children then those that are in high school or college. Objects with animations such as building blocks that can talk and light up to indicate to a child how to stack them correctly. But that can also have an opposite effect, like the children will become addicted to the computers and such. That could be also fatal to the brain of the child. Then there is the good things for children who have problems with health. Like the development in the area of prosthetics. These new prosthetics are used to make education equal for all children. They have recently developed an implant for children with hearing disabilities. Microelectronic lenses are being designed for those with reading and sight problems, although there is a chance that it will have an opposite effect

Internet (inglise keeles)

The Internet is the latest in a series of technological breakthroughs in interpersonal communication, following the telegraph, telephone, radio, and television. The evidence suggests that the Internet has blended into the rhythms of every day life: the Internet is used at work, in schools, in universities, and hospitals etc. It is used for a wide variety of purposes, such as surfing for information, working, playing online games, and just chatting. The fact that people are not interacting in visible public spaces does not mean that they are in isolation. It is just sometimes quicker and easier way to find needed information and for some people who simply doesn't have time to meet and have a chat in a cafe or somewhere it might be the only way to chat. It is through that fore some people Internet through its entertainment and information capabilities draws people away from family and friends, but I would say that most still prefer meet...

The Internet is making literature irrelevant

The Internet is making literature increasingly irrelevant in the modern world Stanislav Stõkov MASB11 When computers were not so spread as they are today, and the Internet had not appeared in the lives of people, we used to spend much more time reading. Literature and books were our best friends, and one of the most important ways on entertainment. Nowadays, if you ask a person, when he or she has read last a book and what the book's title was, the person will not know what to answer. Nobody reads any more, or if they do it is on the internet and only a summary so as not to get tired too much.

Simple and small ways affect the enviroment for the better

never breaks down, and has led to the poisoning and death of numerous sea creatures. Don’t use plastic bags, use reusable fabric bags instead. Don’t waste food, use up your leftovers. Also if you have usable clothes or household items that you don’t need anymore, donate them to charity or sell them, instead of sending them to the landfill. You can protect the enviroment by reducing, reusing and recycling. All these little things like using rechargable batteries, turning off your computers at night, paying bills online, using both sides of paper or planting a tree and so on, all these things matter. It’s not much asked to do these simple and small things for the enviroment.

"What makes a good movie?"

precision because the viewers already have their visions of the characters and the director has to work hard to get the actors as similar to the characters in the original story as he can. When the characters have been selected and the movie is already being shot it needs to have some great special effects. Some movies have been successful even without any special effects, but nowadays people expect to see special effects in every movie. Special effects are now mostly made with the help of computers and the level of the effects depends on the skill of the people doing them and the level of their equipment. When all three are good and people have put much effort in them, the movie will probably be great unless someone messes things up very badly. But even when one of these elements is a bit weaker but another is superb, the movie can still be a great success.

The Fear of Choosing The Wrong Major in University

doubt and fear. For example, over the years, there has been an increase of people, who have decided to study Information Technology in University, including myself. The increase has been due to the immense labor shortage in Estonia and the high salaries students will be earning after university. For me these are not the reasons I want to study IT, but because I am genuinely interested in developing new software and applications for computers. But since a lot of teenagers want to study IT, I find myself questioning, if so many people are getting degrees, will there be enough jobs for all of us graduates? Another minor fear I have about working in the IT sector in the future is tied to gender inequality. Stereotypically, IT specialists are nerdy men with ponytails and glasses, spending time alone in their room with no social lives. Because of this stereotype, men are more favored by the employers and

Launch control system means that the driver presses the gas pedal to the floor and the car takes off with no reaction time when it’s the right time to start. In rally cars usually start with 2 or 3 minute gaps between them. Formula One is most definitely the most hi-tech racing series. Almost everything there are controlled with computers. One thing to point out is the steering wheel of a Formula One car. Modern F1 wheel might have 35 or more knobs, buttons and switches. Driver can adjust almost everything of his car with the wheel. Usually F1 wheels have also LED screens which can display as many as 100 pages of info and data. Third topic I talked about was simulators. Modern road circuit simulators can be very similar to real life experience. For example most of the testing in F1 are made with simulators
