London

London There were some people living on the banks of the Thames when the Romans came to England in 43 AD. But we don't know much about them. London first called Londinium . In 200 they built a wall around their city, a part of which can still be seen near the Museum of London . London Bridge was built in stone in 1176. It was London's only bridge until 1729. Now there are about twenty bridges . London soon became the largest city in England and by the time of the Norman Conquest in 1066 it had become the most important city in Britain. It grew in are and population until September 1666, when the Great Fire destroyed four fifths of the wooden buildings in the City including St Paul's Cathedral. The fire began in the kitchen of King's baker in Pudding Lane and lasted for five days.

Vene teadlaste avastused.

There, Kulibin built a "planetary" pocket-clock, which showed not only the current time, but also the month, day of the week, the season and the current moon phase. Kulibin also designed projects for tower clocks, miniature "clock-in-a-ring" types and others. He also worked on new ways to facet glass for use in microscopes, telescopes and other optical instruments. During the 1770s, he designed a wooden one-arch bridge over the Neva river with a span of 298 metres (instead of the typically used 50-60 metre spans), offering to use an original girder with a cross grate. In 1776 a model 1/10th the natural size of this bridge was tested by a special commission of academics. Kulibin's project was praised by Leonhard Euler and Daniel Bernoulli, but was never realized. After 1780, Kulibin worked on possibilities for a metallic bridge, but these projects were also rejected by the government. Altogether Kulibin

A weekend in London

On sunday we will go at first to St. James's Park. St. James's Park is both the oldest and smallest of London's parks, built by Henry VIII in 1536. The righthand side will be the Cabinet War Rooms. The Churchill War Rooms played host to Winston Churchill and his wartime government during the dark days of World War II. Safe in their underground rooms beneath London's Whitehall, they met and slept in bunkers to plan Hitler's defeat. If we would go to the southside of the lake we will cross the bridge in the middle. This will give as one of the most celebrated views of Buckingham Palace. We will walk down the Mall and past St. James's Palace and make some photos of the guards. Then we will go across Green Park to Piccadilly, where we can do some shopping. Afterwards we will walk east towards Piccadilly Circus. A quick stroll down Regent Street will bring us out onto Pall Mall, from where we can go on east towards Trafalgar Square. This is a home to one of London's most famous landmarks

London

It is in Central Europe. The city lies on the river Thames. London has 7,556,900 inhabitants, which is more than a quarter of the countries in Europe! For one city, London is very special. The beginning of London Before the founding of London, there had already been smaller groups of people in the area. There aren't any records on who they were. The first mayor settlement of London was in 43 AD. Romans came to the banks of the river Thames. They built houses, a port and a bridge over the river (later known as London Bridge). They named the place Londinium. In the year 200 they built a wall around their city. The wall doesn't exist today, but a part of it can be seen near the Museum of London. In the year 61 Londinium was burned down. The houses were made out of wood back then, so this was easy to do. The people, who destroyed the city, were from the Iceni tribe. The tribe was located to the north-east of Londinium. They had

Great Britain

It is the ninth largest island in the world, the largest European island and the largest of the British Isles. With a population of about 60.0 million people in mid-2009, it is the third most populous island in the world, after Java and Honsh. Great Britain is surrounded by over 1,000 smaller islands and islets. The island of Ireland lies to its west. The capital of England is London and its official language is English. The island was first inhabited by people who crossed over the land bridge from the European mainland. Traces of early humans have been found from about 500,000 years ago. Until about 10,000 years ago, Great Britain was joined to Ireland. When visiting the capital London a tourist should go sightseeing around the city. There are lots of attractions to look out. For example the famous Big Ben is a huge tourist magnet or The Eye as well, where people go and enjoy the view. Also many museums in London give tourists good information about England's history or art.

voltage and ground -- effectively a short. This usually destroys one or both transistors. In a high-power circuit, the results can be quite dramatic, with blue sparks and pieces of transistor flying across the room. Shoot-through can be caused by bringing inputs high at the same time. It can also be caused by bringing one input high while simultaneously taking the other input low. If one of the transistors in the bridge turns off a little slower than the others turn on, the result will be momentary shoot-through. The usual method to avoid shoot-through is to introduce a short delay between turning off one side of the H-bridge and turning on the other. The delay must be long enough to allow both transistors to turn off before the other pair turns on. 5. a. Which pin would be used for sensing current? Pin 8 b

London

During the 19th century, London was transformed into the world's largest city and capital of the British Empire. Its population expanded from 1 million in 1800 to 6.7 million a century later. During this period, London became a global political, financial, and trading capital. In this position, it was largely unrivaled until the latter part of the century, when Paris and New York began to threaten its dominance. The first railway to be built in London was a line from London Bridge to Greenwich, which opened in 1836. This was soon followed by the opening of great rail termini which linked London to every corner of Britain. These included Euston station (1837), Paddington station (1838), Fenchurch Street station (1841), Waterloo station (1848), King's Cross station (1850), and St Pancras station (1863). From 1863, the first lines of the London Underground were constructed.Parliament finally gave consent for the MBW to construct a massive system of sewers
