Pros and Cons of School Uniforms

To start with, school uniforms have many good sides for students, however, uniforms also have bad sides which are particulary involved with financial problems. In the first place, school uniforms help to prevent violence in school territory, for example uniforms can prevent gangs from forming on campus and identify intruders in the school yard. Secondly, school uniforms increase a sense of belonging and school pride. It encourages discipline, lessens economic and social barriers between students. Besides that there is no need to spend money on trendy clothes. Thirdly, school uniforms make students a target for bullies from other schools. In addition to that, uniforms give students no freedom of expression. Last but not least, school uniforms are an unfair additional expense for parents and besides that a financial burden for poor families. To sum up, it can be said that school uniforms have both good and bad sides. In my opinion,

Saudi-arabia deserts

Neotropical realm. A good example is the Atacama of Chile. Cold deserts occur in the Antarctic, Greenland and the Nearctic realm. Climate In hot and dry deserts temperatures exhibit daily extremes because the atmosphere contains little humidity to block the Sun's rays. Many mean annual temperatures range from 20-25° C. The extreme maximum ranges from 43.5-49° C. Minimum temperatures sometimes drop to -18° C. Rainfall is usually very low and/or concentrated in short bursts between long rainless periods. In semiarid deserts summer temperatures usually average between 21-27° C. It normally does not go above 38° C and evening temperatures are cool, at around 10° C. The average rainfall ranges from 2-4 cm annually. In coastal deserts the average summer temperature ranges from 13-24° C; winter temperatures are 5° C or below. The maximum annual temperature is about 35° C and the minimum is about -4° C. In Chile, the temperature ranges from -2 to 5° C in July

Slumdog Miliooner

This appeals to us as an audience as it makes us believe that if you strive for love, nothing can hold you back from achieving that love. Jamal and Latika are the two young lovers in Slumdog Millionaire and the plot revolves around Jamal's quest to be with Latika and the obstacles that are thrown in his way. The first obstacle appears to be the game show, but we are quickly shown that it is the conflict with the host Prem that Jamal must win to be united with Latika. The conflict between Prem and Jamal helped me understand the main idea of "Love conquers all". It helped me understand this by the use of flashbacks during the show. When Jamal was asked a question on the show, there was a flashback showing how Jamal knew the answer to the question he was asked. This gave the audience an insight of Jamal's past, living in the slums of India and all the obstacles he had to overcome. An example of an obstacle Jamal had to overcome was the murdering of his mother by the Hindu's

Why Travel?

other cultures, and to better understand your own culture and values. Travelling not only teaches you about other cultures, but it also teaches you more about yourself and your own culture. After all, only from the outside can you look back in. Where will your travels take you and what will you see? Travel can be an escape - an escape from the daily grind, an unhappy relationship or perhaps a transitional period between college and the starting a career or between one job and another. Some people travel not so much to go someplace but to get away.

Estuary English - A Controversial Issue?

Cockney are: · h-dropping, so that Cockney hand on heart becomes ('and on 'eart). · th-fronting, using labiodental fricatives instead of dental fricatives This turns I think into /a fink/ and mother into /move/ (Wells 1997) However, Coggle (1993) claims that TH fronting in word-medial and word-final positions is becoming widespread at the Cockney end of the EE spectrum. 4. Difficulties in defining phonological boundaries between Received Pronunciation, Estuary English and Cockney Rosewarne (1984 onwards) places Estuary English speakers on an accent continuum between RP and Cockney, and according to him they can display various shades of EE either towards the Cockney or the RP end of this continuum. Maidment (1994) represents this definition by means of Diagram 1 and points to the fact that such a depiction of Estuary English would indicate that there are rigid boundaries between Cockney and EE, and EE and RP.

Eksperimentaalne uurimus.

His life after that is full of success, but also tragedy, which is caused by a forbidden love against his bosses wife. 5. What is the conflict in the story? The main conflict was in the relationship between Jankowski and the circus director August. The stance was critical even in the beginning of their meeting and August constantly humiliated Jankowski. Things did get better between them after Jankowski schooled the circuses new starRosie the elephant, for which August was grateful. EU COOPERATION WITH RUSSIA AND EASTERN

Which have been the main developments and success stories in this partnership in 2000-2012? Which side is more interested? The main cornerstones of the EU and Russia relations are the trade and energy relations. One biggest breakthrough has been gas pipeline Nord Stream. Russia is the third biggest trade partner of the EU and is the main importer of gas and crude oil. The economic benefits are the biggest cornerstones of the relations. Cooperation between Russia and the European Union progressively strengthens in foreign policy and security issues, in combating illegal migration, organised crime and terrorism. The main achievement of recent years, which can be hardly overestimated, is the understanding increasingly gaining ground that partnership between Russia and the EU is one of the cornerstones of maintaining stability and prosperity not only in Europe, but world-wide.

Theatre: Theatre as compared to film and literature

Theatre: Theatre as compared to film and literature Im going to compare theatre to film and literature. There are some seally big differences between thatre and film or literature. Firstly the main difference between literature and theatre is that if you read a book, you have to imagine the whole image in your head and thus everybody sees one thing differently, but in theatre you have a real live picture in front of you. Also in books the feelings, thoughts and emotions are described better than in theatre performances. Secondly, in theatre performances you can only see one stage and one place but in movies the situations are depicted in various places, for example on streets and other places, which can

Friends have more Influence than Family on Teenagers

Friends have more Influence than Family on Teenagers Human interaction plays a vital role in our existence. It isn't abnormal for people to learn from each other or act according to the social norm set by others. In their teens, people begin to form strong connections with other individuals their own age this may inherently play a role in how we act. The connection made between friends is usually much stronger than between family members. With teens, there is always a `rebellious' factor in play, which may make them adapt certain behaviors or ideas from our friends, in order to appease the inner rebel inside of us. Teenagers act according to the norm that is prominent in the group they are apart of. For example, the punk movement will possibly penetrate different groups and to feel apart of the group, teens will also dress accordingly. On the other hand, our parents behavior will have an influence on

Filmi analüüs "Invictus"

The title of the film is also a title of a poem ,,Invictus", written by William Ernest Henley. I quite liked this film. It is an interesting and teaching film, which make people think about their attitude towards other people. Nelson Mandela, who released from Victor Verster Prison after 27 years spent in jail, is the first black president of South Africa. He concentrates on problems, which are associated with racial divisions between black and white South Africans. The problems between black and white are obvious even between his own security team. Mr. Mandela attends a game of the Springboks, which is the South Africa's rugby union team. He realizes that the blacks in the stadium cheer against their home team, as the mostly-white Springboks represent prejudice and apartheid in their minds. He realizes that he did the same thing, when he was on Robben Island. South-Africa has to host the 1995 Rugby World Cup

Peace and keeping

What is peace? It is a state of harmony and the absence of hostility and wars. It sounds simple and easy, but for some reason, throughout the history, it has been very difficult to actually keep peace. Why then is it so important? Firstly, when there is peace, people are happy. Friendly relations with neighbours and different countries give people an oppurtunity to live normal lives. However, for example, when there are some tensions between two countries, the people of those countries would live in constant fear and threat. Secondly, violence is not acceptable in any form or situation. I think that when there are disagreements between some countries, they should try to solve them verbally. It is natural that we don`t all agree with everything, but a certain level of acceptance and understanding must be reachable with words. Luckily, there are more and more international peace organizations that help acheive

disaster. Over 40 tonnes of the deadly methyl isocyanate (MIC) leaked from the Union Carbide Corporation Plant, toxifying and killing thousands of people. This study was aimed at determining the causes of this disaster and also the effect it had on people and the environment. A thorough analysis was done on several scientific works and articles. A lengthy documentary was also included in the analysis. The analyses established that a metal plate was missing from between two pipes in the Union Carbide Corporation in which water managed to reach the MIC tank. The chemical reaction between water and MIC caused a major temperature and pressure rise in the tank which allowed the toxic gas to escape from the emergency pipes. The gas was not neutralized, as the three fundamental emergency systems failed to work. The gas killed up to 10, 000 people in 3 days and approximately 35, 000 by 1994. The gas affected

Home Schooling

http://www.abiks.pri.ee There is big different between home school and state school. The way how there are taught is different too. There are arguments both for an advantage and disadvantage. Firstly in home school parents have the freedom to decide what to teach. Furthermore they have the freedom to decide how to teach. Secondly parents can teach their children more than just facts and when children learning what interests them, it motivates them to learn even more. But on the other hand home schooling isn't the best way

descriptive dimensions to two dimensions on the monitor screen. But once learned, it can be useful in many instances. The easiest way to visualize this scheme is to think of the H, S, and B values representing points within an upside-down cone. At the edge of the cone base, think of the visible light spectrum (preceeding page), cut from the page and pasted into a circle with shading added to smooth the transition between the (now joined) red and magenta ends. · Hue is the actual color. It is measured in angular degrees around the cone starting and ending at red = 0 or 360 (so yellow = 60, green = 120, etc.).

Money makes the world go round

important then money is left for every individual himself to decide. People use their money differently, for example their are celebrities who waste money on 5 different cars and 4 houses just to show they are rich but there are also people like Bill Gates who are very humble and donate huge amount of their money to help people who can not help themselves. Our grandparents always told us that money cannot buy happiness. The fact is they were wrong. Scientists have studied the connection between money and happiness. Their conclusion is that there is a positive connection between the two. I myself have always considered money to be an important thing but not as important as happiness but i also considered a possibility that money can buy me happiness, so my conclusion is that money is the most powerful and important thing in the current world in which we live.

History of Football

History of Football Forerunners of football The creation of football as we understand it today is geographically confined to British shores, but there is extensive evidence of ancient games with the same basic principles as the modern day incarnation. The first of these was identified as part of Shang Dynasty China in the 5th century BC, the game's objective being to kick a leather ball through a hole in a piece of cloth which between two 30 foot poles. The Tsu'Chu military exercise in 3rd century China was also an interesting elaboration on this theme; the premise once again being to kick a leather ball through a 30-40 centimetre opening. As the Tsu'Chu exercise lacked the central team element of today's football, attention has also been given to the Greek and Roman games of episkyros and Harpastum respectively. Psychology – Gleitman

Dreams and Social Behavior: More than 95 percent of our dreams are peopled with others and most revolve around our relations with them. Culture- culture affects not only what dream is about but also how the dreamer thinks about it when she recalls it later on. In some societies including our own, dreams are generally dismissed as nonsensical fancies, irrelevant to real life. Dreams and internal conflict- according to Freud, dreams are product of an elaborate clash between two contending forces-unconscious primitive urges of our biological heritage and the civilizing constaints imposed by society. The disguise explains why dreams are so often odd and senseless. Senselessness is only on the surface, a cunning mask that lets us indulge in the unacceptable wish without realizing that iti is unacceptable. ' some distortions involve various transformations of the unacceptable themes, one is symbolism'
