Meg Gabot

Meg's Biography Meg Cabot was born on February 1, 1967, during the Chinese astrological year of the Fire Horse, a notoriously unlucky sign. Fortunately she grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where few people were aware of the stigma of being a fire horse-at least until Meg became a teenager, when she flunked freshman Algebra twice, then decided to cut her own bangs. After six years as an undergrad at Indiana University (a college to which she was only accepted because her father taught there), Meg moved to New York City (in the middle of a sanitation worker strike) to pursue a career as an illustrator, at which she failed miserably, forcing her to turn to her favorite hobbywriting novelsfor emotional succor. She worked various jobs to pay the rent, including a decade-long stint as the assistant manager of a 700 bed freshmen dormitory at NYU, a position she still occasionally misses. She is now the author of over forty books for both adu...

How to become successful?

How to become successful? Success as a rather abstract term has become the main goal that youngsters want to achieve nowadays when they are putting the things in their lives into perspective. Success is measured individually by each person based on their values, intrests and achievements. But what could be the gameplan when inching one's way towards success in my point of view? First of all, i believe that figuring out the path one wants to follow in life and being persistent on staying on that path is even more important than a well-rounded education. An excellent example to support that idea is Steve Jobs, one of the founders of Apple Inc., who had a poor education, but a clear vision of what he wants to do

Many newspapers and magazines feature stories about the private lives of famous people

and nowaday people are fond of famous people life details, despite embarrassing or untrue things. Besides, magazines help famous people support their popularity and in some way develope their careers, giving other people free information about their private lifes. Gossips increase people`s interest and products, which are produced or broadcasted with famous people will be more common ,than others things. In conclusion, based on the arguments listed above is clear that more appropriative role for featuring private life of famous people is for magazines, than for newspapers, which should focus on serious situations. Magazines are more linked to social things and may not only inform people, but also help famous people increase their popularity. Valeria Prostjakova

Can you buy everything for money?

Cash be particularly useful purposes, than for evil deeds. Money is indeed a topic that concerns the very large number, then you're not rich or poor, it still affects the lives and the way we live. People should understand that money does not have to be so, that I had a lot of money is intended primarily to allow life to live as love. After all, we all dream of unlimited money and a lifestyle that would allow us to do everything. One might assume that wealth is based on a high enough IQ, education, contacts, etc., but these conditions do not permit a large fortune and wealth. I have to accept in full the sentence heard, that we have already programmed a little after the money in the wrong perception to believe. There are, of course, said that only big money can bring the work and trouble, something does not fall after all, just for you, and the rich are actually those people who have become rich by deceit.

I read it through and now I'm trying to give the conclusion of the article as well as express my own opinion. 70 percent of planet Earth's surface contain water. Water is the beginning of life and vital natural resource. It's vital for every living organism. That's why we have to keep the water bodies clean and stop polluting our fresh water. It's hard to believe, but planet Earth is in great danger. People can't see the whole picture

Singing Revolution To the end of 80s, the Soviet Union folks didn't want to live under socialistic- communistic order anymore. The Soviet Union was protected with the Iron Curtain, which symbol was the Berlin wall. At the same time, not only Estonia, but also other countries that were under the authority of the Soviet Union, increased the independence efforts. People didn't want to live like this anymore, it was based on fear and commands. The start of the Estonian public announcement of the reindependence is probably the Singing Revolution. To begin with, the Singing Revolution was a non-violent wish expressing and embarked on the Soviet Union to fall apart. Are student organizations beneficial for students?

postive and negative side to everything. One the one hand it appears that some students might support and think that student organizations are really advantageous for them and others do not support that idea. For example many stundents might complain about that sudent organizations are full of politics and assuming that they do not consider it necessary and beneficial to join any of them. It seems that they may have based their opinion on someone else’s comments or experience and not on their personal experience. In addition it appears that students might not know the plus sides and possibilities that student organizations could enable them so they do not even bother to make clear the benefit of being part of student organizations. One the other hand it might be said that students who have been in many student organizations have got jobs or scholarships more easily than those who have not. Firstly

Film review “Scent of a Woman“ 1992 by Martin Brest

It touched me, and even made me cry a bit. I really think it fulfilled it's purpose. The dialogue in Scent of a woman is so well-written, very quotable, the acting unbelievable. The film includes only what's necessary, because it's interesting to watch and I never got bored of it, it was an exciting experience. Pacino makes Scent of a woman something very memorable, powerful and a life affirming film experience. Even though it's over 2 hours 30 min, it fly's by. Scent of a Woman is based on the 1975 Italian film Profumo Di Donna. I think this incredible movie leaves a legacy of life. It makes us appreciate life and also understand that a life can be lived in a minute just like Al Pacino says in one of this movie's most beautiful scenes. The movie also talks about values, integrity, and moral principles, by sides of this movie's wonderful script it's incredible cast makes it one of the most outstanding movies I have ever seen. And the humor of this movie is really great. I

precision, but sought them more in the rigorous description of our immediate experience (the phenomena) than in the logical analysis of concepts or language. Continental Philosophy In "Being and Time" Heidegger turned phenomenology toward "existential" questions about freedom, anguish and death. Later, French thinkers influenced by Husserl and Heidegger, especially Sartre and Merleau-Ponty, developed their own versions of phenomenologically based existentialism. Continental Philosophy The term "continental philosophy" was the invention of analytic philosophers of the mid-20th century who wanted to distinguish themselves from the phenomenologists and existentialists of continental Europe. Over the last 50 years, the term has been extended to many other European movements, such as Hegelian idealism, Marxism, hermeneutics and, especially, post-structuralism and deconstruction.

Games Programming with Java and Java 3D

3.3. DirectX versus OpenGL A head-to-head comparison of DirectX and OpenGL isn't really fair: DirectX is a set of APIs for graphics, audio, multimedia, networking, and others, whereas OpenGL is aimed solely at the graphics domain. Even if we restrict the comparison to DirectX Graphics and OpenGL, we must still decide whether to limit OpenGL to its core features or to permit vendor-specific extensions. In most technical areas, DirectX Graphics and OpenGL are almost equivalent, since both are based on the same graphics pipeline architecture, and there is a strong flow of ideas between the two. DirectX Graphics is aimed more towards game development, including such things as programmable vertex and pixel control, but these features are available as extensions to OpenGL on some platforms. The most significant differences between the two APIs are unrelated to their functionality. OpenGL is ported to a wide range of platforms and OSes, while DirectX

Short analysis of two phonetics articles

subjects. Never thought a single word or a sound you make could tell random strangers who you are? Well, prepare to be convinced otherwise. (Well, not solely by these two articles or my short conclusions, of course, it is a very wide field and there is yet much research to be done.) Anyhow, here I have found two research articles, both dealing with whether it is possible to distinguish someone's sexual identity solely based upon a few words, or much less, a single phone. As it turns out, it is. How it is done, is also shown (although I must admit that my current education did not allow me to understand all the details of the methods used) and a lot of research poured into finding out what it is that random people find "sounding gay" or "sounding heterosexual". The articles have a nine year gap, and the newer, written 2015 also mentions Munson et al's research several times

Lewis Carroll

He was for many years widely assumed to have derived his own "Alice" from Alice Liddell. This was given some apparent substance by the fact the acrostic poem at the end of Through the Looking Glass spells out her name, and that there are many superficial references to her hidden in the text of both books. It has been pointed out that Dodgson himself repeatedly denied in later life that his "little heroine" was based on any real child, and frequently dedicated his works to girls of his acquaintance, adding their names in acrostic poems at the beginning of the text. Gertrude Chataway's name appears in this form at the beginning of The Hunting of the Snark, and no one has ever suggested this means any of the characters in the narrative are based on her.

In addition, the European organization has a number of product managers (most of them in Brussels) plus managing directors in charge of each of the 17 European subsidiaries. The Greenhouse Effects

The Greenhouse Effect: Scientists are sure about the greenhouse effect. They know that greenhouse gases make the Earth warmer by trapping energy in the atmosphere. Climate Change: Climate is the long-term average of a region's weather events lumped together. For example, it's possible that a winter day in Buffalo, New York, could be sunny and mild, but the average weather the climate tells us that Buffalo's winters will mainly be cold and include snow and rain. Climate change represents a change in these long-term weather patterns. They can become warmer or colder. Annual amounts of rainfall or snowfall can increase or decrease. Global Warming: Global warming refers to an average increase in the Earth's temperature, which in turn causes changes in climate. A warmer Earth may lead to changes in rainfall patterns, a rise in sea level, and a wide range of impacts on plants, wildlife, and humans. When scientists talk about the issue o...

How far can we go being tolerant?

It is the ability to see things from the other side, capability to take our companions as equal and bravery to show out all those things. Just like all valuable things are uncommon, tolerance is rare too. It is caused by the fact that comparing to the previous centuries people have changed more self-centered and envious, forgetting others around. Tolerance as a characteristic feature is an acknowledged ideal in today`s modern society. The democratic state is based on tolerance. Over the last few years the attitude against ethnic monorities has been a frequently discussed topic in Estonia. Russians, who settled in Estonia during the USSR occupation are causing economical, racial and religious conflicts between them and Estonians. Although Estonians don't have any particular reason why we don't accept Russians as equals, we are used to just unaccept them. Religous percecution is a serious side of intolerance. Jew-baiting has been the

Book review. A&Q (Slumdog Millionaire)

Mohammad Thomas knew answer for all the questions he was asked for. One of the main reasons whay I started to read this book, was the success of the movie Slumdog Millionaire. Although I had not seen the film I thought that the theme of the book and the film was very interesting. So I decided to read the novel first, because the chances are (predictably and almost consistently so), I would like the book better. Most of the movies that were based on books like Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, and the more recent Marley and Me and multiple award- winning Slumdog Millionaire for example, fell short to its namesake. While they were no doubt entertaining films, fans of the book would have expected more and so would I. The book had a depth and a feeling, that was to me, lost in the movie. Page after page, I was riveted. His mis- adventures were more real, more painful, more lonely somehow - even though he was all of that in the movie too

The Life of Indigenous Australian Children.

Many had to sleep in dormitories with about nineteen to twenty-five other girls in each of dormitory. If any of the girls wet the bed, she would get her nose rubbed in the wet sheet and then receive a beating. The food they ate was so bad that sometimes the meat was infested with maggots. They were not supplied with shoes; in order to keep their feet warm; children would jump into the cow dung. In Kinchela Boys' Home, which was based in New South Wales, the boys often suffered sexual and physical abuse. Often the white people would send Aboriginal women out into the white community, and if they came back pregnant, the rule was to keep each woman for two years and then take the child away; sometimes mother and child would never see each other again. The white society thought it would be in the best interest of the child to remove her from the corrupting influence of her Aboriginal family
