Tag - questions

Questions : "tag" questions You speak English, don't you? A tag question is a special construction in English. It is a statement followed by a mini-question. The whole sentence is a "tag question", and the mini-question at the end is called a "question tag". We use tag questions at the end of statements to ask for confirmation. They mean something like: "Am I right?" or "Do you agree?" They are very common in English. The basic structure is: + - Positive statement, negative tag? Snow is white, isn't it? - + Negative statement, positive tag? You don't like me, do you? Look at these examples with positive statements:

I’m pleased to meet you!

I'm pleased to meet you! I decided to tell you a story. I want to write it down, just in case you won't remember it in future. I tried to find my pen, but I haven't found. So I decided to write it down on my computer. I love to write stories down. After you read this, you can ask me some questions. I want you to read this very thoughtfully. Please don't tell anyone, that I wrote you a story. I don't sure if that story make you cry, but let the story begin. Today I realised that it's not impossible to eat a hamburger in 30 seconds. Especially if you need to create your essay. It was good to see you and I hope you like my story.

Letter of complaint

Firstly, you described the camp as something extremely dreadful, although there was very fun and the atmosphere was great. Secondly, you claimed that at the camp were 30 students, but actually there were only 15 of us, maybe even less. The final point I want to make concerns accommodation. We did not spend the nights in old tents. All of us slept in modern, wooden buildings with many more showers than you claimed to be there. Could I please ask you to look into these matters. I would like to see correct information about the camp in the next issue. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Kaire Lusti

How To Get Better Grades

HOW TO GET BETTER GRADES To get better grades you have to learn everything and to be careful not to miss anything. In school you have to listen to everything your teacher says and you have to do your homework. Homework has to be done everyday and it has to be checked, because in your home your parents can check your homework for mistakes. When you are at school you have to be prepared and be ready to answer any questions that teachers could ask you. If you have something not done or forgot to do something, then you have to apologise to the teacher and it has to be done for the next day. The main key to success is paying attention in class, listening to every word your teacher says and to do your homework very good.

Oliver Twist

The story starts with Oliver’s mother giving birth to Oliver and she herself dies after giving birth. No one knew who was Oliver’s father, so he grew up in a workhouse. In 8 years, he was moved to a different workhouse, because he was too old to keep living in the same one he lived in before. In the workhouse children have to work all day while they are starving. One day after finishing their food, some boys including Oliver decide to cast lots and whoever loses has to go and ask for more food. Oliver loses and he goes to ask, but gets denied and punished for asking for more food. Next day, an advertisement was put up claiming that whoever takes Oliver from the workhouse will also get 5 pounds for taking him. He was taken to work by mister Sowerberry, the parish undertaker. He has to help Sowerberry around the house and such, but later on he gets a more serious job. There was one more boy, Noah, working for Sowerberry, and he couldn’t take Oliver.

Having a job while studying - essee

Having a job while studying I think, that when a student have a job while studying, has positive and negative sides. The positives side of it is that when you have work then you have your own money and you don´t have to ask money your parents. You have experience when you go to work after school. But at the negative side you don´t have enough time to learn your homework, because when you aren´t at school you are at work. It takes much time of your personal life. When you want to go out with your friends, then you can´t because you have to be at work or relationships with opposite gender will suffer. And when you are grown up you will understand that you have lost a piece of your childhood.

Semi formal complaint letter

I understand he is in a band and needs to practice but I think he can not do this in apartment. I work in home, so for me, it is important to have silence so I can concentrate on my work. But when David is playing all the time it is unable to get any of my works done, except when he is out. Sometimes I have been forced to leave the apartment and work at the library because of the guitar playing was disturbing. I would appreciate it if you could speak to David and ask him to turn down the volume on his guitar or else to use headphones. I have spoken to him about it, but he has not listen to me. I will let you know as soon as the situation gets better. Thank you kindly and I hope this problem will be solved, Yours sincerely,

speak English, Estonian and German very well. Others think I am conscientious and I have good knowledge of history. If I got this job, I would very much like to present our town’s most beautiful sights. First I think that I would like to show The London Eye, because it gives a good overview of London when they want to use it. And secondly I want to show them the tower of Big Ben (also known as The Elizabeth Tower), because this is a famous tower in the world. I would like to ask how much the salary is and how many hours I have to work. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Mari Mets

Estonian climate in winter-time.

Estonian climate in winter-time. In Estonia, winter climate is very variable. Some year, it could be very cold outside, but some year it could be so warm you may wear your autumn clothes in winter. Some year it could snow so much, that you can't even get out of the house, because there's too much snow in front of your door and some year it may not snow for at least half of the winter-time. But no worries, mostly the temperature may go below -30 and because of the cold, students are absent from schools. The absent students mess up the whole classes program, because then it takes more time to study some subjects and teachers have a lot more work to do. I think, that when students skip school because of the bad weather, teachers should put homework and the work that should have been done in classes, on ekool, but not as concise as it would be if stundents have been at school. Then, students can study subjects on their own and if they ca...

Dear social worker

Dear social worker I am writing because of my concern about my elderly neighbor. She is a really friendly 80-year old lady but she is not able to do everyday jobs to live normal life. I have helped her to cope with everyday life but next year I will leave to other city to attend university and I think she is not able to continue without any help. Usually after school I go and visit her to ask if she needs something from shop or pharmacy. She also has problems using her mobile phone to call her friends or healthcare persons, which I also has helped her to do. Once a week I have helped her with cleaning her apartment. Sometimes when I visit her I have seen that she just needs to talk to somebody to feel happy. I have tried to help her as much as possible. I hope we can manage to find proper solutions to this problem. I wait for Your thoughts about which would be the best way to her.

The Book I Advice to Read and Why

reflection. 95 The story of the prophet Elijah is an invaluable lesson of hope for the contemporary man. To what point can we predict our own destiny? This is the question that hangs in the air over The Fifth Mountain. Paulo Coelho brings out the universal themes of how faith and love can ultimately triumph over. The author lets the reader draw his own conclusions after having experienced the hero's breathtaking adventure. Sometimes the world seems to have conspired against us, and we ask ourselves, "Why does this have to happen to me?" So, I advice to read this book for those, who wants to understand why does it happen sometimes.

Reported speech

He said to me,"I was at home yesterday." He told me that he had been at home the previous day/ the day before. He asked me,"Where did you live two years ago?" He asked me where I had lived two years before. 3. Alati pole vaja otsekõnes öeldut kaudkõnes sõna-sõnalt edasi anda. Tähtis on edastada öeldu mõte. Seda saab teha kasutades saatelauses sobivaid tegusõnu: accept, advise, agree, allow, apologize, ask, beg, promise, recommend, refuse, suggest, warn. He asked me," will you come to my birthday on Sunday?" He invited me to his party on Sunday. I said, "Thank you. I'd love to come." I accepted his invitation.

Friend

with you so that you have confidence, goes out of their way to make time for you, helps you clear up your mistakes, helps you deal with pressure from others, smiles for you when they are sad, helps you become a better person! No one can make you laugh quite the way your friends can. Most importantly of all friends love you for who you are. I know that when I am going through a tough situation, I always ask my closest friends for advice. No matter where we go or who we become, never forget who helped us get there. There's never a wrong time to pick up a phone or send a message telling your friends how much you miss them or how much you love them.

Is job satisfaction more important than money?

Is job satisfaction more important than money? There are many people who are in jobs they dislike. If you ask them about unsatisfying jobs, they definitely will answer that they do it because money is more important than job satisfaction. On the contrary, I do not agree with them. Firstly, money cannot buy you happiness. Like it is said, chase money and you will always be running. Moreover, you have only got one life to live happily and happy are you only then, when you have a rewarding job. Secondly, do what you love and the money will follow. Some people are convinced of

A letter of application

in accounts department. I am seventeen-year-old high school student and am very interested in this position. When I graduate school I would like to do a similar job to this so I think it would be a great opportunity to gain some work experience. Unfortunately I do not have any formal work experience, but I have been often told that I am good with money and every time my family have inancial problems or when we are willing to take a loan then my parents always ask my opinion so we could work out the best solution for us. As far as my personality is concerned I would describe myself honest, reliable and hard- working. I am a sociable person and I enjoy working with other as part of a team. I am also a quick learner and very good at maths, which I think is quite important for this job. If you wish me to attend an interview, I am available at any time. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, John Smith

Why I have to learn English ?

Why I have to learn English? English is very important and useful language because a lot of people in the world can speak it. You need English language example when you are traveling and want to talk with local people. You need English also in Estonia when some tourist or other person who is visiting Estonia ask you to help her to find some place or wants to talk with you. You need to learn English when you want to go to some other country to study. It is usual that there are Universities in different countries in the world where is possible to learn in English. I don't know if there is any other university outside Estonia where you can learn in Estonian. You need to learn English when you would like to find new friends outside of Estonia

Money Makes The World Go Round

When I was a small boy, I thought of money as a piece of paper that my parents give away at the store. Growing up, I have realized the power of this paper. It can get you everything. And by everything I mean absolutely everything. It can get you food, a house, a car, a bike, sometimes even love. When you go outside, then you often see homeless persons looking for bottles. You also see very rich people who seem to have everything but yet they want more. They all ask themselves the same question - how to get more money? I think money has become so valuable because prospects are slowly running out and because of that gas value goes up, food value goes up and everything else too. So if you do not work hard you will end up looking for bottles too. To sum up, people have to work harder and be more enterprising to eat, live and have more fun.

Secondly the good thing is, if you work while studing, you always have a allowence. When class is going to travel, then you have the Money to pay for it. And you don't have to ask Money for your parents. Bad thing is that the work disturb studying. Beacuse you have two big obligation, where you can not miss. You don't have time to commit studying and your marks will be Worse. Work while studying is a big burden. Sometimes the work plan dont match with school plan. Therefore you have to miss some lessons. Family or friends- which are more important

Family or friends- which are more important More important is certainly family and it is always number one in our life. Friends ofcourse are important too, but never so reliable than family and relatives. Family stay forever but friends they come and go. Also you can think whenever you are alone there is somebody who will think of you- your dear family. Friends often put upon your charitableness so you can't always trust them. There is only certain kind of friends who are trustable and you understand it yourself who is and who's not. Friends are who you can trust and share some things you can't never tell to your family. Friends are first people you call and ask out if you're bored, nobody askes her family out because we are with them everyday. Family is who want's to be with you everytime even if everybody hates you, they will be there for you! There is different kind of friends: trustable, backbiters, funny, fake etc. Also i...
