Animal Experimentation

Animal Experimentation Based on the Constitution of Estionia, we are all born with equal rights. However, mankind denys that animals share these rights. Animals are just as entitled to the rights of living, avoiding pain as humans are. Nonetheless, we still abuse them, often even without a second thought. Despite the wide use of animal testing, the research gained from it is not helpful to mankind. The chemicals and medicines tested on animals reacts differently on every species. That is why results gained from animal testing could be incorrect and misleading. In many cases, not only are the results wrong, but the opposite can be true for humans; a drug may cure a disease in lab animals but have an bad effect when used in treating people for the same symptoms

Description of an animal

Endangered animal koala bear Though often called the koala "bear," this cuddly animal is not a bear at all, it is a marsupial. Koalas live in eastern Australia, where the eucalyptus trees they love are most plentiful. In fact, they rarely leave these trees. That is why they are usually called "treehuggers". Koalas have thick, grayish fur, with white on their chests, inner arms, and ears. They have large furry ears and leathery noses. The koala has large, sharp claws to assist with climing tree trunks. The koala is one of the few mammals that have fingerprints.

Animal communication - CATS

CATS - COMMUNICATION · Cat communication is the range of methods by which cats communicate with other cats, humans and other animals. · Communication methods include postures, movement, auditory and chemical signals. Meowing · A meow is a sound used by cats to signal a request to their mother or owner. When communicating with human beings, adult cats express variations of this tone to demand food or attention, register complaints, and convey bewilderment. An alteration in tone, pace, or punctuation changes the meaning, however slight. Purring · A purr is a sound made by most species of felids, but most large felines like tigers do not. A tonal buzzing can characterize differently between cats. · Purring is often understood as signifying happiness; however, cats sometimes purr when they are ill, or during ten...

Elistvere Animal Park

Elistvere Animal Park One Sunday in October I visited Elistvere Animal Park. There are wild animals in the park that naturally live in Estonian wild nature. Unlike most zoos there animals live in as natural conditions as possible. In Elistvere I saw elks, lynxes, foxes, wild boars and many more animals that we can come across in nature. Also I saw there animals who don't live in Estonian nature but they can easily live in our climatical conditions, for example European buffalos and reindeers.

I am an animal person

I Am an Animal Person In the world there are so many different people. Some people like and some do not like animals. But what makes an animal likeable and what is the reason why some people can not have an animal? Firstly, the biggest plus what animals can give is love. Every animal it does not matter how big or small he/she is, loves his/her host with all of his heart and he/she does not care how rich or famous you are. For example, puppies do so much trouble when they are young, but they show love every single day, sometimes they have to lick only your cheek to make you feel good. Secondly, one fateful thing about having an animal is that people do not have any time for them. Some people travel a lot and they can not afford to keep an animal. And even if you do not

Animal farm by George Orwell

where all animals live free from the tyranny of their human masters. old Major dies soon after the meeting, but the animals got inspired by his philosophy of Animalism. They plot a rebellion against Jones. Two pigs, Snowball and Napoleon, prove themselves important figures and planners of this dangerous enterprise. When Jones forgets to feed the animals, the revolution occurs, and Jones and his men are chased off the farm. Manor Farm is renamed Animal Farm, and the Seven Commandments of Animalism are painted on the barn wall. The rebellion is a success - The animals complete the harvest and meet every Sunday to debate farm policy. The pigs, because of their intelligence, become the supervisors of the farm. Napoleon, however, proves to be a power-hungry leader who steals the cows milk and a number of apples to feed himself and the other pigs. -> Napoleon's lust for power increases to the point

Plants and animal life: For millions of years New Zealand has been isolated and unique birds, animals and plants have developed here. Best known are flightless birds such as the Kiwi. Because there were no ground based enemies for ancient birds many lost there ability to fly with the passage of time. Lizards, frogs, and bats are the only indigenous land animals in New Zealand. Biggest dangers to wild animals in Estonia.

What are the biggest dangers to wild animals in Estonia? Wild animals in Estonia, like in many other places in the world, are in danger. Forest industry, agriculture and other human activities in the nature, as well as pollution, disturb and even endanger the life of wild animals. Firstly, big forest machines disturb animals. For example, in winter the machines disturb animals who hibernate in winter. As a result, animals can leave their habitations and go somewhere else where is quiter. In addition to disturbing animals, the forest industry endanger wild animals' lives. Some machines can simply kill some animals accidentally. Besides, there are some species which are rear in Estonian forests. These species should be protected. A further problem is poaching- although it is not a very big problem in Estonia, it affects the number of animals. There are, however, a lot of wild animals in ou...

Sample Letter to the Editor Letter to the Editor [ Date ] [ Newspaper Name ] [ Newspaper Address ] [ RE: Headline and author if you're writing in reference to a story OR "Performing Animals in the City of _______" ] Dear Editor: While circuses and traveling shows featuring wild animal acts may seem innocent enough, it has become apparent over the past decade that wild animal acts are inherently cruel and unsafe. Most circuses and traveling shows that use wild animals keep them for months on end in cramped transport cages, sometimes hardly larger than they are, with only brief periods outside to perform. The animals have no opportuni- ty to move or behave in a natural way. That's why veterinarians, animal behaviourists, biologists and animal welfare organizations around the world have condemned wild animal acts.

Animal rights movements and their views on hunting

Animal rights movements and their views on hunting Koostaja: In Wikipedia there are listed 34 animal rights organizations [8], so in this report author has picked out some of these organizations and will introduce their views on game management and hunting. First hypothesis before deeper research is that all such organizations are against all sort of hunting. When mentioned animal rights people usually think about people fighting against wearing furs and keeping animals in cages, but when delving deeper into this there are many problems that animal rights organizations/ movements are addressing. There are also those organizations that have not made any statements about hunting, some of those concentrate only on pets (mostly cats and dogs) but some just don’t mention hunting in any way. These types of organizations have been left out from this report.

Power Destroys Ideals

Throughout the centuries people have fought for power. Leadership has been a reason for many wars and fights. For some people one of the most important things in life is to have power over everybody else. Very often those who become leaders destroy or forget about the ideals they had before and about the promises they made. G. Orwell's book "Animal Farm" is an excellent example of how easy it is to forget about the ideals. In his novel George Orwell pictures a human society through the animal farm. He uses exagerations which help to feel the atmosphere of spoiled society. Society ruined by dictators, false ideas and corruption. In the novel the animals are shown as the exagerated copies of human beings with all their characters, habits and feelings. The story took place on the farm where the animals led a rebellion against the human beings. The revolution was started by the pigs who were considered the most intelligent animals

Pet therapy

Quite by chance, researchers discovered that the survival rate of people who owned a pet was significantly greater than those who didn't. At first, they treated these findings with suspicion, but the more research that was done, the more conclusive the proof became. People with pets really were living longer.  It was discovered that stroking a cat or dog lowers a human being’s blood pressure and reduces anxiety. Just having an animal around you can lower your heart rate. Cats and dogs aren't the only pets that can help you to relax either. A dental school in America has discovered that gazing at fish in a tank helps patients relax before undergoing dental treatment.  The current trend towards using pets in therapy sessions is based on the work of an American psychologist, Dr Boris Levinson. He was treating a child who was very withdrawn and refused to talk

George Orwell "Animal Farm" essay - "Human nature exposed in the novel"

Human nature exposed in G.Orwell's ,,Animal Farm" Humans are the most deceitful animals in the World. Even if we do not want to confess it to ourselves, we have to accept the fact that humans constantly change their ways of thinking and acting to make the World a better place to live in for themselves. Our lives are fulfilled with lies we enter to our or someone else's mind. A lot of it is connected to people's constant need of power and control. "Animal Farm" is a book that reverberates that kind of human nature through politics, dictatorship and power, but in nowadays' World this kind of behaviour occurs also in our everyday life, not only politics. First of all humans are in a constant need of power. The essence of the power does not even matter as long as they have some kind of control. It could be control over some group, over a person and his mind, actions and thoughts or just over a certain situation where we wa...

Stress

Stress Stress is a necessary part of nature. It´s the organism´s defence mechanism for changes in the surrounding enviorment. Without it we could not survive. Stress has many effects on the body that are necessary for a reaction to the stressor. When an animal senses danger, it automatically triggers a fight or flight response. In case of a lifethreatening situation, stress is an invaluable ally. It can even motivate us to prepeare for upcoming challenges. But as we move further and further from our natural habitat, stress becomes more of nuisance than a lifesaver. Things that cause stress to the modern man are nothing compared to the problems that troubled our ancestors. Few hundred years ago the average european was still worrying about his livestock being looted. But we feel that a Powerpoint presentation that is due tomorrow is something that threatens our existance. Stress can cause some people u...

Different types of forests and their forms of usage.

Forests Tropical and subtropical forests, also known as rainforests or tropical rainforests, are lavish and ample forests with broad leave tree. They are mostly found at lowlands near the equator - Asia, Africa, South & Central America and on many of the Pacific Islands. Almost 50% forests of the world are tropical and subtropical in nature. Rainforests are characterized by high rainfall. They are home to two-thirds of all the living animal and plant species on the planet. Tall, broad-leaved evergreen trees are the dominant plants, forming a leafy canopy over the forest floor. The undergrowth or understory in a rainforest generally consists of shade-tolerant shrubs, herbs, ferns, small trees and large woody vines. The temperature ranges from 5°C to 50°C. Human uses of tropical and subtropical forests:

They communicate by touch, sight, and sound; elephants use infrasound, and seismic communication over long distances. I choosed that animal becose I love this animal and it's so big and strong. MORE INTERESTING ABOUT THIS ANIMAL : Because of their large size, elephants have a huge impact on their environments and are considered keystone species. Their habit of uprooting trees and undergrowth can transform savannah into grasslands; when they dig for water during drought, they create waterholes that can be used by other animals.

Infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis 2019

It is the most common ocular disease of cattle caused by bacteria Moraxella bovis. This study focuses on IBK despite having low mortality rate and complete recovery, it causes significant loss of productivity in the herds affected due to the costs of treatment and considerable impact on afflicted animals, including blindness. This research is focused on the details, such as risk factors, pathogenesis, etiology, clinical signs prevention, transmission, and treatment, which animal handlers should be aware of to minimize the harm caused by IBK. Vaccination does not ensure lifelong immunity and not prevent a primary and reinfection of the cattle. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the cattle in a healthy body condition to assure a high immunity level, which helps the body to defend itself against the disease. This study is based on scientific articles from different magazines. The purpose of the research is to learn more about IBK and how to handle it. IBK seems to be

Animals we miss today

Causes: *The main cause of animal extinction, without doubt,is human demand, either for animal resources directly, or for the natural resources of the animals' habitats. *In addition to that, there are other indirect causes caused by human activities. *Habitat loss: Is considered to be the main cause for animal extinction. Humans are clearing our forests for wood and timber. The foodchain is disturbed and animals will die. *Wildlife trade: Poaching and wildlife trade are another common threat to animals. International wildlife trade has also been linked to drugs trade. The most common anilmal trade is pet trade, such as orangutangs. Animals are also killed for fur(tigers, leopards, cheetahs) *Climate change: It has been recently suggested that warmer global temperatures may be affecting animals

Protecting endangered species will make a difference in humans life

Protecting endangered species will make a difference in humans' life In the nature of humankind it is natural to hunt animals. However, nowadays hunting endangered species will make humans be just killers, because it is not necessary to kill something just to have a trophy on the wall at home. People can be proud of what they have done, but decreasing the population of a species largely will cause the specific animal breed to go extinct faster than it would happen via natural causes. Therefore, humans should stop hunting endangered species to slow down their extinction, as these species offer balance in the wildlife, are used without purpose in medicine, and may even reduce poverty. Species on the brink of extinction affect us more than we realize. Sure, pandas are cute, and rhinos are fun to look at, but is there anything more to that

The jaws were muscular but weak and had 46 teeth. • The thylacine held the title of Australia's largest predator until about 3500 years ago. • The thylacine resembled a large, short-haired dog with a stiff tail which smoothly extended from the body in a way similar to that of a kangaroo. • Its yellow-brown coat featured 13 to 21 distinctive dark stripes across its back, rump and the base of its tail, which earned the animal the nickname “tiger". • Its body hair was dense and soft, up to 15 mm (0.6 in) in length; in juveniles the tip of the tail had a crest. Extinction in Australia • The thylacine is likely to have become near- extinct in mainland Australia about 2,000 years ago, and possibly earlier in New Guinea. • The absolute extinction is attributed to competition from indigenous humans and invasive dingoes. • Humans had an adverse effect on the

poachers. For example Loxodonta africana is an African elephant who has been hunt down and whose population was significantly reduced in 20th century. The population in the Tanzanian Selous Game Reserve, once the largest of any reserve in the world, dropped from 109 000 in 1976 to 13 000 in 2013. 85 000 elephants were lost to poaching in Tanzania between 2009 and 2014. Even though zoos compared to reserves are really small, they are still important in preserving animal species. Also, some of the animals lose their natural habitat completely due to the natural disasters or something even worse like pollution caused by who?-human being. It is really hard to accept the fact that we are trying to protect something from ourselves. Giant panda in south central China does not have a "home" anymore. Chinese Wolong National Nature Reserve with the help of UNESCO World Heritage Site and Japanese zoos are helping to preserve panda bears.

So we don´t need worry about that a monkey jumps trough our window and arranges a big mess or wild animal attacks people. People can go in nature with no feare to get attacked by wild animal. Before Of Monsters and Men had been established, Nanna had a solo musical project called Songbird and was a video store clerk. The two sing about an epic battle between birds and bees, wolves running with the wind in the dark, and a whale--with a house on his back--who gives people rides across the ocean. Ghosts, mythic kings and magical monsters are more to Raggi's liking. He has filled the band's debut album, My Head Is an Animal, with such mystical things. Sustainability aspects of biofuels

but the relationship is neither straightforward nor simple as there are other factors that influence the prices of food and its production (Fammini, 2008; AJanovic, 2010). As was described in by Fammini (2008), the 2007-08 food price crises had a number of factors playing for it. One of the underlying causes was the rising demand for food crops from developing countries, such as China and India. The demand has particularly grown for meat and dairy products, which implies increased demand for animal feed. Food reserves have gradually reduced sine the 1990s and the main reason is to decrease stock holding costs. Increased fuel prices and food speculations by the financial institutions have also influences the food prices and its supply. Agriculture

However, the sector's role in the economy is much smaller than in most other major industrial countries, in terms of employment and contribution to GDP, reflecting Britain's early industrialization. Agriculture employs less than 2 per cent of the population and contributes 2 per cent of GDP. However, it achieves high levels of efficiency and productivity. Britain is self-sufficient in 58 per cent of all types of food and animal feed. Large parts of Britain, notably in Scotland and Wales, are suitable only for grazing. Overall, in the first half of the 1990s about 39 per cent of agricultural land was under pasture, another 27 per cent under rough grazing, and the remainder under crops or lying fallow. Over half of all full-time farms are devoted to dairy or beef farming, or sheep. Cattle and sheep contribute more than 40 per cent of the value of gross agricultural output.
