Markko Märtin

He was on target to notch up victory on that year's Acropolis Rally Greece, his career first, until suffering two punctures and instead being forced to concede to the more experienced McRae. But Märtin still impressed during his time as pilot of the Ford Focus WRC. He won the equivalent event in Greece the following year as well as being only the third driver in the history of the WRC to break the Scandinavian stranglehold on the Neste Rally Finland. In addition to this, Märtin was a winner, again with Ford, of the Corona Rally Mexico in 2004. He also won the Tarmac rallies of Corsica and Catalunya in the same year. These victories happened to be the last for the Märtin/Park partnership. For 2005 Märtin departed the team for former constructors' champions Peugeot and their 307 car. Sadly, in comparison to the heights of previous seasons, initial promise was to give way to grief

Bermuda

England a century before the Acts of Union created the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Bermuda's first capital, St. George's, was settled in 1612 and is the oldest continuously inhabited English town in the Americas. Although commonly referred to in the singular, the territory consists of approximately 138 islands, with a total area of 53.3 square kilometres. Compiling a list of these islands is often complicated, as many have more than one name (as does the entire archipelago, which, in addition to its two official names, has historically been known as "La Garza," "Virgineola," and the "Isle of Devils"). "St. George's Parish (each known as St. George's), whereas Bermuda's capital, the "City of Hamilton", lies in Pembroke Parish, not in "Hamilton Parish", on the largest island, "Main Island," which itself is sometimes called "Bermuda." Bermuda was discovered in 1503 by a Spanish explorer, Juan de Bermúdez. Executive authority in Bermuda is vested in the

Artist report or review

In the winter of 1942 a few months before his death Kristjan Raud finished his composition entitled The Return of Kalev asymbolic work in those complicated years when Soviet power alternated with German occupation. In my opinion was Kristjan Raud very important artist, because he was one of the first Estonian artists who is brave enough to try and make his career in his homeland in Estonia. However that he should know that he could fall through and his career will be finished. in addition war Kristjan Raud remarkable and outstanding artist who deal with Estonian folklore.

"Legal english vs everyday english" speech

There is a smaller chance that your document will be misunderstood when plain language is used. And if your documents give instructions, your client is more likely to understand and follow them correctly. For example, a lease tries to regulate the way a tenant uses a property. That purpose cannot be achieved if the tenant cannot understand the lease. So lets be honest, having a tenant comply with a lease is so much better than taking action against a tenant for not complying with it. In addition to that not using legal English can save you a lot of time and money it gets your point and message across and people actually are able to understand it, which means your clients won't be calling you as often to get explanations and they will also be making fewer errors while they fill out important forms. So it can definitely be said that using plain language may help you save time, resources and most importantly you will be able to give better service to your clients.

"Estonia"

In Estonian coat of arms there are 3 lions. The national anthem is ,,My Fatherland, my Delight and Joy". The melody of our national anthem is the same that of the national anthem of Finland. Estonians hold up their traditions. My country is famous for its Song and Dance festivals which are held in every 4 years. At Christmas, every year we eat the same Christmas food the blood sausage and sauerkraut. The national food of Estonia is kama. It is finely milled flour mixture. In addition, Estonians have also invented Skype. The climate in Estonia is temperate. We are lucky to have 4 seasons. In winter, the minimum temperature is -43,5°C and in summer the maximum temperature is +35,2°C. It is difficult sometimes because Estonians have endure the big changes of temperature. That is why we are so adaptable. The wettest period in Estonia is September and there are many thunderstorms in August. Sometimes the weather is so unpredictable that people cannot plan

Introduction of Estonia

The current coat of arms of Estonia is a golden shield which includes three slim, blue lions in the middle, with oak branches along the side of the shield. The heraldic lions of the coat of arms are the most ancient of Estonia's symbols. ,,My Fatherland, My Happiness and Joy" was adopted as the national anthem of the Republic of Estonia in 1920, and again in 1990. The lyrics were written by Johann Voldemar Jannsen and are set to a melody composed in 1848 by Frederik (Friedrich) Pacius. In addition to the three main state symbols , Estonia has chosen her own national flower(Cornflower) and national bird(barn swallow). Estonia even has her own national stone(limestone) and national fish(Baltic herring), which seem to be a rarity among other national symbols. All four have gained official status. Estonia is one of the smallest country in the European Union but it's modern and competitive in it's development.

Savanna

of grazing by sheep, goats and cattle, ranging from changes in pasture composition to woody weed encroachment. The removal of grass by grazing affects the woody plant component of woodland systems in two major ways. Grasses compete with woody plants for water in the topsoil and removal by grazing reduces this competitive effect, potentially boosting tree growth. In addition to this effect the removal of fuel reduces both the intensity and the frequency of fires which may control woody plant species. Grazing animals can have a more direct effect on woody plants by the browsing of palatable woody species. There is evidence that unpalatable woody plants have increased under grazing in savannas. Grazing also promotes the spread of weeds in savannas by the removal or reduction of the plants which would normally compete with potential weeds and hinder establishment

Tolerance and Diversity

People are very easily affected. Media and television are the main influencers. People today just watch television, read newspapers, magazines and take almost everything they say very seriously. Sometimes it seems that people's brains have been paralyzed by the media. They are not able to think themselves, which leads them to stereotypes created by mass media. Today young people are more tolerant than the elder ones. They don't have stereotypes of people built in their mind. In addition they are not influenced by elder's opinions. Elder people do not agree with the fact that their daughter or son might get married to a representative of another race. However young people would say that love is blind and so is friendship. Diversity is related to tolerance. Countries with rich diversity also do not have a tolerance problem. However, small countries with only one or two nationalities can be the centre of such problem

The Most Influential Figures in British History

Firstly, Elizabeth I made a great impression on British history as she kept England from major wars during her reign, the kingdom expanded and she supported culture. The rule of Elizabeth I can be called a peaceful time as England did not enter any huge conflicts. She managed to keep good relations with other great countries. However, the defeat of the Spanish Armada left no one questioning the superiority of the British navy. In addition, the kingdom’s territories grew during her reign, Virginia in America being named after „The Virgin Queen“. Queen Elizabeth I also valued culture. Arts flourished while Elizabeth was in power, most notably the theatre. She had the first real theatres built allowing poets like Shakespeare to create masterpieces. It is no wonder that Elizabeth I’s reign was named „The Golden Era“ as it was a time of peace during which England’s territory grew and arts such as theatre thrived.

does not require us to do the impossible we do that which is quite possible. A few weeks ago, I went through my friend's wallet and found an organ donor card. It really made me think. Would I be willing to donate an organ to help someone or to receive an organ from someone I do not know if I needed it? This whole idea makes me stop and think. Health issues are very common nowadays and luckily, medical science has advanced so much that nearly everything is curable. In addition to good medical science, organ transplants have improved too. You can replace almost everything from your body. But when all of these great advances come down to a personal decision, it gets difficult. I respect donors a lot, but I wish I knew what inspired them to do so. If someone handed me a donor card to fill out, my instinct would propably be to pass it right back. I do not plan to ever get rid of any part of my body

Book report/review "The Snow Child"

1920's and it talks about a couple, Jack and Mabel, who decide to make a snow girl out of snow. The next day the snow girl has become a real human being. Before Jack and Mable were living in Alaska they were living in Pennsylvania. They moved to Alaska to get away from the family, because they had lost their first child. It was hard for Mabel to recover there, because there were children around all the time. In Alaska they were living a very isolated life - no neighbours, no friends. In addition, at that time there did not exist such things as food shops, so they had to hunt all their food. Life was quite hard in Alaska and I am not so sure that it had a good influence on Jack and Mable, however it changed their life in a positive way. I believe that the decision to move to Alaska brought the couple closer and made them stronger. One day they made a snow girl, they put a scarf around her neck and a pair of red mittens, which Mabel's sister had knitted

The Estonian War of Independence

The unit of teachers took part in battles in the southern parts of Estonia and in the areas of Latvia. The unit was dismissed and the teachers returned to schoolwork in March 1919. The school year continued where it was left off. In the picture, amongst others, sits Aleksis Kuusik (point to the bearded guy in the second row, second from the left), who was the teacher of physics, maths and cosmography in our school at that time and later became the headmaster for 23 years. In addition, there is Aleksander Veiderma (point to the noticeable man in the middle of the picture), who was the chief of the unit for teachers and the head of the government of schools in Tallinn at that time, later the minister of education and the headmaster of the Tallinn's School of Commerce and Trade for Girls. During the War of Independence, seven of our schoolboys died: Heinrich Vellmann, Gunnar Ambrosius, Hugo Läänemets, Artur Viikmann, Hans Püss, Raoul Kallismaa, Nikolai Reinok

Social problems in England - tekst

1) 1.Racism 2. Crime 3. Unemployment 4. Alcohol/Drug abuse 5. Economic recession 6. Poverty 7. Riots 2) Racism is a common problem in many countries and in Englad it is present because there are many immigrants from all over the world. As it is a widespread social problem it's also one of the worst ones, because the hatred directed to different races or even nationalities makes the foreign people feel bad and also to hate the locals. This brings up many conflicts like the bombings in 2005 (when 4 islamic suicide bombers killed thmeselves and 52 civilians), but usually the conflicts are smaller, like brawls between different ethnic groups or mockery and insults. 3)In 1999 was the biggest racism related crime in the last 3 decades, when a Neo-Nazi David Copeland placed homemade nailbombs at public places directed to african and bangladeshian communities and killing 13 and injuring 139 people.,. Estonia traditional costumes

The main regions fall into South, North, and West Estonia, and the islands as a separate group, reflecting ancient tribal peculiarities. South Estonia This region is the most conservative in dress. Maidens in Southern Estonia bound their hair with a ribbon plaited from colourful pieces of cloth or woollen yarns. Instead of a skirt, the Setu women wore a garment resembling the Russian sarafan. Setu women were extremely fond of silver ornaments: on their chest they wore a conical brooch, in addition to various silver chains. Traditionally, the large setu brooch was only worn by women of child-bearing age; nowadays older women, too, use it as a decoration. The men of the southeast wore their shirts loosely on their pants with a belt, similar to the Russian tradition. North Estonia This region was relatively unified and prone to modernisation. Here people were first

Mardi Gras esitlus

The millions of colorful beaded necklaces thrown from floats are the most visible symbols and souvenirs of Mardi Gras. The tradition of throwing beads and small trinkets from Mardi Gras parade floats dates back almost as long as the parades themselves. Originally, the beaded necklaces were made from glass, but the Krewes switched to plastic in the mid 1900s. Throws started in the 1920s when Rex and a few other Krewes started throwing small trinkets. In addition, millions of cups, stuffed animals, plastic cups, small toys and even bags and toy coins known as "doubloons"are decorated with krewe logos and thrown to parade-watchers. Mardi Gras around the world In Ireland, Australia, and Canada, Mardi Gras is known as "Pancake Tuesday", while in Britain it is popularly known as "Pancake Day". In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the week before Ash Wednesday is called "shrovetide", ending on Shrove Tuesday.

Syria (Helimun)

4. Judicial system and its functionality The Syrian legal system is based partly on French law and partly on Syrian statutes. Investigating magistrates determine whether a case should be sent to trial. Minor infringements are handled by peace courts, more serious cases go to courts of first instance. There are civil and criminal appeals courts, the highest being the Court of Cassation. Separate state security courts have jurisdiction over activities affecting the security of the government. In addition, Shari'ah courts apply Islamic law in cases involving personal status. The Druze and non- Muslim communities have their own religious courts. A Supreme Constitutional Court investigates and rules on petitions submitted by the president or one-fourth of the members of the People's Assembly challenging the constitutionality of laws or legislative decrees. This court has no jurisdiction to hear appeals for cases from the civil or criminal courts.

Media

Many millions of people watch television for amusement during their free time. But television provides viewers with more than just entertainment. Most people get a large proportion of their news from TV news broadcasts. So television is the chief source of news for many households around the world. TV does what none of the other media can: it brings the sights and sounds of some importnant news events by means of filmed, taped, or live reports. In addition to daily news reports, television covers special news events. Coverage of such an event may replace many hours of regular TV shows. Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin, Jr. KBE (April 16, 1889 December 25, 1977), better known as Charlie Chaplin, was an Academy Award-winning English comedy actor. Chaplin became one of the most famous actors as well as a notable director, composer and musician in the early to mid Hollywood cinema era. He is considered to have been one of the finest mimes and clowns

Hoe to write an argumentative essay?

HOW TO WRITE AN ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY An argumentative essay is a formal, impersonal piece of writing in which the writer is either expected to give a balanced consideration of a particular topic, or to state their own opinion clearly and then support it by giving reasons. An essay should begin with an introduction in which some background information is given about the problem that is going to be discussed. The angle from which the problem is going to be looked upon in the essay is also stated. In longer essays these are in different paragraphs, in shorter ones they can be in one paragraph. The body of the essay usually consists of several paragraphs, the number of which depends on the length of the essay. Each paragraph should begin with a topic sentence. The following sentences should enlarge on the theme, give examples, etc. If it is an essay discussing the advantages and disadvantages of something, the advantages should...

Internet piracy

2 distributors from the law? These questions are just a couple of the many that arise and are argued by advocates and opponents alike. Advocates of file sharing also support the notion that internet piracy has no economic impact and if it does, the impact is insignificant and can be easily defended. File sharers rationalize their actions based on the argument that they "would not have purchased the content anyway." In addition, it is argued that freely obtaining a digital copy of something does not have any impact because a tangible, physical item is not being stolen. Thus, it is a seemingly victimless crime. Last, file sharers argue that the content that they are freely stealing is not worth the price. Perhaps they consider a certain piece of software, for example, to be poorly written. Supporters profess that software companies should be penalized for distributing low quality software with

Breton Island. Ontario has the largest French-speaking population outside Quebec. The Charter of the French Language in Quebec makes French the official language in Quebec, and New Brunswick is the only province to have a statement of official bilingualism in the constitution. Other provinces have no official languages as such, but French is used as a language of instruction, in courts, and for other government services in addition to English. Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec allow for both English and French to be spoken in the provincial legislatures, and laws are enacted in both languages. In Ontario, French has some legal status but is not fully co-official. Several aboriginal languages have official status in Northwest Territories. Inuktitut is the majority language in Nunavut, and one of three official languages in the territory.

possessed a dominant role in the global economy. From the late 19th century the Second Industrial Revolution in the United States and the German Empire presented an increasing challenge to Britain's role as leader of the global economy. The flag of the United Kingdom is the Union Flag (also referred to as the Union Jack). It was first created in 1606 by the superimposition of the Flag of England on the Flag of Scotland and updated in 1801 with the addition of Saint Patrick's Flag. Wales is not represented in the Union Flag as Wales had been conquered and annexed to England prior to the formation of the United Kingdom; the possibility of redesigning the Union Flag to include representation of Wales has not been completely ruled out.[436] The national anthem of the United Kingdom is "God Save the King", with "King" replaced with "Queen" in the lyrics whenever the monarch is a woman.

Wooden pallets

SLAID 1 I am going to talk about wooden pallets. After I am finished I will answer any question you might have about my presentation. SLAID 2 Lets start with history. Wooden pallets date back to 1000 B.C. Egiptians used sheets of wood for transport and storage. These wooden sheets are called skids or sleads. They are still in use but their shape and durability has changed a lot. It was the during the early 1920’s, shortly after the modern forklift was invented, when skids evolved into pallets, revolutionizing the way merchandise was stored and transported. The new design of pallets allowed goods to be moved, stored and stacked with extraordinary speed and versatility. During the WWII the allied countries established a standard size pallet to ease shipment and transportation. This agreement skyrocketed the production and popularity of wooden pallets during the war After the war variety of sizes and designs were produced and used. The tra...

Walking for meetings - analysis of a Nilofer Merchant presentation

would have also talked for themselves. Despite that her hand gestures were just perfect and she did not seem nervous. To sum up the whole presentation she used some funny words and pointed at her lower back as in the beginning of the presentation. This was used to make people more lively and to let them know that the presentation is about to end. Also she encouraged the audience to move more and told that her life quality has increased greatly due to moving and having meetings while walking. In addition, she used a rhyme to make sure that her message is said out loud and clear - “walk and talk, walk and talk”. I think she reached the goal with her rhyme and whole presentation. At least I started to think differently after listening to her presentation.
