Body and exterior vocabulary autotehnik

Spoilers on the front of a vehicle are often called air dams, because in addition to directing air flow they also reduce the amount of air flowing underneath the vehicle which generally reduces aerodynamic lift and drag. Spoilers are often fitted to race and high-performance sports cars, although they have become common on passenger vehicles as well. Some spoilers are added to cars primarily for styling purposes and have either little aerodynamic benefit or even make the aerodynamics worse. · Front spoiler (air dam) Spoilers for cars are often incorrectly confused with, or the term used interchangeably with, wings. Automotive wings are devices whose intended design is to generate downforce as air passes around them, not simply disrupt existing airflow patterns · Rear spoiler (wing)...

The Rise and Demise of the New Public Management, 28 10

In that sense, "Good Governance" privileges the Second over the First Sector, even in First Sector areas. The Hatter ... had taken his watch out of his pocket, and was looking at it uneasily.... "Two days wrong! ... I told you butter wouldn't suit the works!" he added , looking angrily at the March Hare. "It was the best butter," the March Hare meekly replied. (Carroll 1865) As this implies, `Good', like its superlative, is often a relative term, meaning `good of its kind', or for its standard purpose, whatever that may be. Failing such a reference, the judgment of goodness is indeterminate, and cannot be applied or debated without risk of confusion. [Thus, the March Hare's statement is right in that the...

Water Purification

Conveyance Pump A pump for sending water from purification plant to a service reservoir located at a higher elevation. Service Reservoir A reservoir from which water is conveyed to homes, factories, and other destinations according to the amount of water that is consumed. Rapid sand filtration First, to quickly remove the impurities from the raw water, a coagulant is added , forming the impurities into large clumps that settle to the bottom. After this process, the water passes through a coarse sand layer in a filter bed, which cleanly removes the impurities. This method is effective even when the raw water is relatively turbid, and can be used to treat large amounts of water using only a small area of land. Slow sand filtration First, the flow of raw water is slowed considerably to allow impurities to settle naturally...

The President of the United States and his family

Obamas' pet The name of the First Family's dog is "Bo." Malia and Sasha picked the dog's name. Bo was born on October, 9, 2008. He is a Portuguese Water Dog from the same breeders of the Portuguese Water Dogs that belonged to the late Senator Ted Kennedy. Senator Kennedy recommended the breed when he found that the President was looking for a dog breed that is usually not a problem for those with dog allergies. The Obamas added Bo to the family when he was just a puppy and he has grown into a beautiful specimen of the breed. The White House refers to Bo as the "First Dog". Racism A race is a group of people that come from a common background. That group is generally determined based on skin color. Programmeerimiskeel

Early AI programs: checkers (in USA) The first AI program to run in the U.S. was also a checkers program, written in 1952 by Arthur Samuel of IBM for the IBM 701. Samuel took over the essentials of Strachey's program (which Strachey had publicised at a computing conference in Canada in 1952) and over a period of years considerably extended it. In 1955 he added features that enabled the program to learn from experience, and therefore improve its play. Samuel included mechanisms for both rote learning and generalisation. The program soon learned enough to outplay its creator. Successive enhancements that Samuel made to the learning apparatus eventually led to the program winning a game against a former Connecticut checkers champion in 1962 (who immediately turned the tables and beat the program in six games straight). 1952...

Easter in England

without breaking it! More traditions Morris Dance is the biggest attraction of Easter jubilation in England. This dance is always staged by professional male troupes who observe old spring dances to frighten away the evil spirits of winter. The attire of the dancers is extremely traditional wherein they wear white shorts, red sashes, black trousers and straw hats. Red and green ribbons along with flowers and streamers are also added to their attire to make their look all the more colorful. Churches are beautifully decorated with different color flowers. White lilies are placed on the altar and these gorgeous flowers are also displayed on the graveyard. For offering prayers in the church, men and women dress up in their special outfits and as a part of their wardrobe, colorful Easter bonnets embellished with flowers is like a must. Brazil's national drinks

It is also known as aguardente, pinga, caninha or other names. Cachaça is mostly produced in Brazil, where, according to 2007 figures, 1.5 billion liters (390 million gallons) are consumed annually, compared with 15 million liters (4.0 million gallons) outside the country. It is typically between 38% and 54% alcohol by volume. When it is homemade it can be as strong as the distiller wants. Up to six grams per liter of sugar may be added ." The major difference between cachaça and rum is that rum is usually made from molasses, a by-product from refineries that boil the cane juice to extract as much sugar crystal as possible, while cachaça is made from fresh sugarcane juice that's fermented and distilled. While many rums are made from molasses, "cachaça rum" is made from "cachaça", by-product quite different from molasses. Cachaça is prior to crystallisation of sugar. Molasses are produced after crystallisation...

Typical closed classes found in many languages are adpositions (prepositions and postpositions), determiners, conjunctions, and pronouns.[1] Contrastingly, an open class offers possibilities for expansion. Typical open classes such as nouns and verbs can and do get new words often, through the usual means such as compounding, derivation, coining, borrowing, etc. [2]...

Hue Saturation Brightness

But once learned, it can be useful in many instances. The easiest way to visualize this scheme is to think of the H, S, and B values representing points within an upside-down cone. At the edge of the cone base, think of the visible light spectrum (preceeding page), cut from the page and pasted into a circle with shading added to smooth the transition between the (now joined) red and magenta ends. · Hue is the actual color. It is measured in angular degrees around the cone starting and ending at red = 0 or 360 (so yellow = 60, green = 120,...

Tsensuur

Tsensuur internetis Sisukord Sissejuhatus Alates ajast, mil internet muutus vabalt kättesaadavaks enamikule inimkonnast on selle kasutajate hulk kasvanud erakordselt kiiresti. Uuringud väidavad, et iga kuu lisandub internetti umbes 19 miljonit kasutajat. Viimaste andmete järgi on interneti kasutajate hulk ületanud 2,2 miljardi inimese piiri.

Book report/review "The Snow Child"

In my view, the book achieved its goal perfectly. The author knew exactly what kind of a message she wanted to bring to the reader and I believe that she succeeded. One specific point, which left me a bit confused was Fauna, the snow girl. I still can not understand how and why she woke up and became a real person. I guess this is the fact, which makes this book special, but I would have liked the book more if the author would have added a story about how she woke up. In general it was book that was a perfect combination of happiness and sadness. Happiness and sadness were in balance, however the book ended sadly. I would recommend this book to everyone, I see it as one of those books, which you have to add to your have-to-read list....

Halloween

As the legend says, Jack was a man who tricked the devil and after Jack had died he was allowed neither in heaven nor in hell. With a lantern in his hand he began to search for a resting place on Earth. This was the original JackoLantern. Since Halloween came to America from Ireland (Scotland and Wales) people used pumpkins because they were bigger and easier to hollow out than turnips. During the centuries the cultures have added their own elements to the way Halloween is celebrated. Druids in Britain and Ireland would light bonfires, dance around them and offer sacrifices of animal and crops. The fires were also intended to give warmth to the households and to keep free from evil spirits. Through the ages these practices changed. Kids love dressing up for halloween.
