At turn on, the diode can be considered as an ideal switchbecause it turns on rapidly as compared to transients in the circuit. 6) One of its main applications is in rectifiers, circuits that convert the Alternating voltage or alternating current into direct voltage or direct current. It is also applied in detectors, which find the signals in the noisy operation conditions. The third application is in switching circuits because an ideal rectifier acts like a perfect conductor when forward biased and lik a perfect insulator when reverse biased. 7) A power diode is more complicated in structure and operational characteristics than the small signal diode. The forward bias characteristic of the power diode is approximately linear, which means that the voltage drop is proportional to the omic resistance and to the current. The rated currents of power diodes are thousands of amperes and the area of the pn junction

Sotsioloogia essee: Hechter ja Horne

According to them, social order is not always higher, where common beliefs and language is shared. For example in South America the violence rates are higher than in North America, even though South America generally comprises of more similar ethnical and religious groups. Thus, the quality of shared meaning in explaining social order can be questioned, as the existence meaning does not prevent individuals from committing deviant acts. The importance of a shared meaning seems to be more explanatory in communities with high cohesiveness, for example religious groups, where people feel the presence of the meaning in their daily activities and thus experience the bonding effect of it. However, as the world is growing more and more anonymous due to globalization and emergence of megapolises, it becomes harder for people to experience the meaning, as their lifestyles are growing more individualistic. Hamelti tegelased (Ingilse keeles)

About thirty years old at the start of the play, Hamlet is the son of Queen Gertrude and the late King Hamlet, and the nephew of the present king, Claudius. Hamlet is melancholy, bitter, and cynical, full of hatred for his uncle's scheming and disgust for his mother's sexuality. A reflective and thoughtful young man who has studied at the University of Wittenberg, Hamlet is often indecisive and hesitant, but at other times prone to rash and impulsive acts. Hamlet (In-Depth Analysis) Claudius - The King of Denmark, Hamlet's uncle, and the play's antagonist. The villain of the play, Claudius is a calculating, ambitious politician, driven by his sexual appetites and his lust for power, but he occasionally shows signs of guilt and human feeling--his love for Gertrude, for instance, seems sincere. The disadvantages were, that I actually didn't understand the colloquial language very well. Thats why I confess, that I had some help from the book translated into Estonian language, but I read both of the books through. Otherwise, it was a readable book, definitely a tragedy and well- written. The author absolutely achieved his purpose. I would definitely recommend it to everybody, especially younger girls, because there is a lot written about love, evil people and their thoughtless acts, it is just what people experience mostly in their younger age.

Agatha Christie - The Moving Finger

Although I didn't think Megan would refuse and that she had developed a mind of her own after all, taking into account that she had to follow orders throughout her life and didn't have a friend to talk to. I would definitely recommend it to others, because it is an easy reading. Firstly, due to the fact that it is a detective novel, which can keep the excitement until the end. Also, it contains a lot of sophistication and truth to understand why a certain man acts the way he does. And finally, it is an easy read for those who have English as their second language, at least easier that a lot others. There are words to which you might not know the exact replica, but the meaning of the whole sentence doesn't get lost because of that single word. 3

Hemingway A Farewell to Arms (themes, motifs, symbols)

At first, their declarations of love are transparent: Catherine reminds Henry several times that their courtship is a game, sending him away when she has played her fill. After Henry is wounded, however, his desire for Catherine and the comfort and support that she offers becomes more than a distraction from the world's unpleasantness; his love begins to sustain him and blossoms into something undeniably real. Catherine's feelings for Henry follow a similar course. While the couple acts in ways that confirm the genuine nature of their passion, however, they never escape the temptation of dreaming of a better world. In other words, the boundary between reality and illusion proves difficult to identify. After Henry and Catherine have spent months of isolation in Switzerland, Hemingway depicts their relationship as a mixture of reality and illusion. Boredom has begun to set in, and the couple effects small daily changes to reinvigorate their lives and their passion:

Discuss the representation of the generation of fathers in Turgenev’s novel “Fathers and Sons”

1 From the beginning of the novel, Turgenev allows the reader to unveil the similarities and differences between the generations by portraying their interactions, moods, thoughts and eby their manners of speaking. At the beginning, as Nikolai is waiting for his son, some of the qualities of the fathers' generation are displayed. The lengthy description of Nikolai's bibliography associates him with the gentry. The reader learns that Nikolai acts on emotion, marrying Masha despite his parents will, and found joy in a love-filled marriage. This can be somewhat descriptive of the ideals represented by the gentry romanticism, aesthetic virtues, sentimentality. Also noticeable in this scene is the use of diminutive forms when portraying Nikolai -" ", " " that belittle Nikolai as a serious man and portray that the owner is "not a part of the adult world" (Bialyi 1968:13)

Charles Darwin

Many scientists rejected evolution and the Great Chain of Life feeling that its concepts had no place in biological science. The key was produced by the theorist of the "dismal science" of economics, Thomas Malthus. Malthus said that human (and animal) populations increased at a geometric rate, whereas food supply increased only at an arithmetic rate. Therefore population was continually outstripping food supply, and was kept in check only by starvation, or by indirect acts such as war and diseases. Malthusianism raised a very good question which is not easily noticed. Which individuals survived in hard times, and which died? Luck was probably the largest factor, but not the only one, other factors applied, such as the strong, the courageous, or the adaptable had a somewhat better chance of surviving than those who lacked those characteristics. To the degree that strength, drive, or adaptability were acquired characteristics, they would

drug wears off. Drugs don't solve problems, of course. And using drugs often causes other problems on top of the problems the person had in the first place. A person who uses drugs can become dependent on them, or addicted. This means that the person's body becomes so accustomed to having this drug that he or she can't function well without it. Can I Tell If Someone Is Using Drugs? If someone is using drugs, you might notice changes in how the person looks or acts. Here are some of those signs, but it's important to remember that depression or another problem could be causing these changes. A person using drugs may: · Lose interest in school. · Change friends (to hang out with kids who use drugs). · Become moody, negative, cranky, or worried all the time. · Ask to be left alone a lot. · Have trouble concentrating. · Sleep a lot (maybe even in class). · Get in fights. · Have red or puffy eyes.

No sooner was the Hundred Year's War over than a long power struggle began for the English crown between two families the House of Lancaster and the House of York. The War of The Roses ended when Henry VII united the two rival houses, giving origin to the Tudor dynasty. The state began to take its present shape with the Acts of Union in 1707, which united the crowns and Parliaments of England and Scotland to create the Kingdom of Great Britain. A further Act of Union joined the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland to create the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Many people, seeing no incentive to join personally in the movement, just continue behaving the way they did before and yet reap the benefits of other people's work. When everyone acts as a free rider, no benefit at all will come from the proposed action. Because it is in everyone's personal interest not to participate in the collective movement, the movement is highly vulnerable to failure. The Death of the Author

topple it. In France, Mallarme was doubtless the first to see and foresee in its full extent the necessity of substituting language itself for the man who hitherto was supposed to own it; for Mallarme, as for us, it is language which speaks, not the author: to write is to reach, through a preexisting impersonality — never to be confused with the castrating objectivity of the realistic novelist — that point where language alone acts, “performs,” and not “oneself”: Mallarme’s entire poetics consists in suppressing the author for the sake of the writing (which is, as we shall see, to restore the status of the reader.) Valery, encumbered with a psychology of the Self, greatly edulcorated Mallarme’s theory, but, turning in a preference for classicism to the lessons of rhetoric, he unceasingly questio- ned and mocked the Author, emphasized the linguistic and almost “chance” nature of

of emergency, to issue laws (which, except in the case of emergency, require ratification by the People's Council), to declare amnesty, to amend the constitution, and to appoint civil servants and military personnel. The Emergency Law, which effectively suspends most constitutional protections for Syrians, was formally in effect through a declared State of Emergency from 1963 until 2011 and remains the de facto standard for security operations. The National Progressive Front also acts as a forum in which economic policies are debated and the country's political orientation is determined. However, because of Ba'ath Party dominance, the National Progressive Front has traditionally exercised little independent power, and most decisions come from the Ba’ath Party Regional Command. The Syrian constitution of 1973 requires that the president be Muslim but does not make Islam the state religion. Islamic jurisprudence, however, is a main source of legislation.

Street Art

Other pieces have drawn attention for their edgy themes or the boldness of their execution. Banksy's work on the West Bank barrier, between Israel and Palestine, received significant media attention in 2005. He is also known for his use of copyrighted material and subversion of classic images. An example of this is Banksy's version of Monet's famous series of water lilies paintings, adapted by Banksy to include drifting trash and debris. Banksy's worldwide fame has transformed his artwork from acts of vandalism to sought-after high art pieces. Journalist Max Foster has referred to the rising prices of graffiti as street art as "the Banksy effect." Banksy's identity remains unknown, despite intense speculation. (A&E Television Networks, Banksy Biography.com 2014, [https://www.biography.com/people/banksy-20883111] 20.12.17) In my opinion, Banksy is one of the brightest graffiti artists of our time, who keeps his identity in secret. I believe that graffiti is one of the most honest arts

English and Native tribes. 13. Political system, symbols Canada is a constitutional monarchy with Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada as head of state, and a parliamentary democracy with a federal system of parliamentary government and strong democratic traditions. Formally considered a constitutional monarchy, Canada is governed by its own House of Commons. While the governor- general is officially the representative of Queen Elizabeth II, in reality the governor- general acts only on the advice of the Canadian prime minister. Official symbols of Canada include the maple leaf, beaver, and the Canadian Horse. Many official symbols of the country such as the Flag of Canada have been changed or modified over the past few decades in order to 'Canadianize' them and remove references to the United Kingdom. Prominently, the use of the maple leaf as a Canadian symbol dates back to the early 18th century, and is depicted on its current

Big data in cloud

Traditional data storage methods and technology are just not enough to store big data and retain it well. Enterprises today need a shift to cloud-based data storage solutions to store, archive and access big data effectively. [21] Storing high quantities of data doesn't come cheap. Small and medium-sized businesses are struggling to afford the initial set up, migration, but when the overhauling cost is taken care of, then big data acts as an incredible revenue generator for digital enterprises [21]. But when the big data is successfully set up, maintaining it becomes a big issue, as big data is highly versatile. Data must be organized by its origin and structured, as data can come from an offline or online source, and it can be either structured and unstructured. [21] Leading us to the next problem, we lack skilled professionals and technology, as big data is a reasonably new topic

By 1996, genre acts such as Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake were being signed to major labels. The original 2 Tone bands had emerged amid punk rock's second wave, but their music was much closer to its Jamaican roots--"ska at 78 rpm".[326] Ska punk bands in the third wave of ska created a true musical fusion between the genres. ...And Out Come the Wolves, the 1995 album by Rancid--which had evolved out of Operation Ivy--became the first record in this ska
