Working at home and in the office

When people talk about working in the office, they usually consider the office work the most boring work ever. People have to sit still for long hours and work until theirand heads start to ache. They can only have a short lunch break and no more free time is allowed. When people work in the office, they have to give their fullest and slacking off is unapproved. In comparison, working at home seems to have many benefits. People who work at home can personally choose their working hours according to their own lifestyle and take as many breaks as they feel necessary. A good rest and a comfortable atmosphere can easily raise the quality of the work that people are doing. However, when people work at home, they might find it hard to focus and they can easily lost their motivation when they don't have a boss breathing down their necks and a clock that is ticking time and never giving them any rest. Working at home and in the office have both good sides and bad sides,

President of Estonia

The President can not be elected for more than two consecutive terms. History Estonia didn't have a president from 1918 to 1938. This institution was intentionally left out of the first Estonian constitution, for its authors tried to avoid the concentration of power in one person's hands by all means possible. Estonia's constitution was amended in 1933, transforming the country from a parliamentary to a presidential state. The head of state, according to the new constitution, was also called the State Elder. Konstantin Päts became the first person to bear this title. His term was to last for six years, but ended short as Estonia was annexed by the Soviet Union in 1940 Konstantin Päts Lennart Meri Took office 6 October 1992 and left office 8 October 2001 ARNOLD Rüütel He took office 8 October 2001 and left office 9 October 2006 The current President is Toomas Hendrik Ilves

How to avoid colds?

There are probably more than a million people who are suffering a terrible head cold, a cough and a sore throat right now. These illnesses are not mostly dangerous for people, but if not treated, they may become life-threatening. For example, a simple cold may become a serious disease called otitis, and a simple cough pneumonia. There are a lot precautions to avoid colds, but not everyone pays attention to. The most common way to avoid them, is to dress according to the weather. When it is windy outside, people should wear something windproof, mostly in early spring and late autumn. In winter the dressing should be warm and layerd. Eating healthy food, doing sports and sleeping normally are also very important actions to stay healthy. Healthy food, for example, is different fruits, vegetables and non-fat soups and fries. Also it's very important to drink herbal teas and eat different berries, like bilberries and cranberries. I really enjoyed reading this book, seeing events from different point of views was facinating and made reading interesting. I chose this book because of its interesting title. Native American government policy is a recurrent topic, especially because the Kashpaw family is (according to Nector) “respected as the last hereditary leaders of this tribe. Loss of a cultural identity and Native American spirituality characterizes and separates the two generations in Love Medicine: “They gave you worthless land to start with and then they chopped it out from under your feet. They took your kids away and stuffed the English language in their mouth.” The generations that Erdrich covers exp...

In 1966 Salam Arif, the leader of the new Ba'athist government, died and his brother, Abdul Rahman Arif, not a Ba'athist, assumed the presidency. Some believe that Robert Anderson, former secretary of the treasury under President Dwight D. What is wrong with current school education?

What is wrong with current school education? School education right now, like democracy, is not perfect. It has to be perfected all the time, according to the ways of life, which are always changing. There definately is not a certain perfect solution. Firts problem in current education system coul be that students are put into a „box“. Everyone gets graded by a certain standard, if you can not reach that line, then yo have failed. This is the fairest way, at least in concept. But not all the people have same abilities and strengths. Education should be more personal, focusin on a certain students talents and

A formal letter to a newspaper

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing with regard to the article 'Txting away ur education' in The Forum column. I have to admit that I was truly inspired by it! I acknowledge the problem of students sending too many text messages and hardly paying any attention at school. First, I have to agree with the argument about declaring war on texting as a new way to be in contact with fellow students over the break, class or other activity. Also, it is important to point out the fact that, according to the Nielsen Co., teens over the country were in the year 2009 sending at least 80 texts a day on average, a figure double what it was the year before. In spite of teens saying that they cannot live without cell phones and iPods, electronic devices should not be permitted in the school buildings. Although students are taking the rules more as an inconvenience than a real threat, they have to see outside of their cell phones and accept not being reachable for the length of a day

Its better to have any religion then to be atheist

its better to have any religion then to be atheist. We live in the 21th century where democracy and freedom of different kinds dominate in most parts of the world. Freedom of worship is not an exception, therefore people can believe or not believe in anything they want. According to this many people decided not to have any religion at all and called themselves ,,atheists". These people believe in their own physical and moral forces only, but now and here i will try to persuade the reader that having a God or some deity is better than to be godless. First reason, why it is better to be a religous person than atheist, is your spiritual and mental safety because if you belive in God , you will always have someone to rely on even in the worst situations, and

Law of Diminishing Returns

What is the law of diminishing returns? Why this proposition is called a "law"? It states that, at some point- when we add more variable input to a fixed input- our marginal product will start to decrease as the newly added variable input is being added to an already increasingly scares input. This can be explained by citing an example, if we add more workers to a job, such as assembling a car. At some point, adding more workers would cause problems, as they would be getting in each other's way, or workers wold often find themselves waiting for access to specific part or tool required for the job. This proposition is called a law because it is standardized and applicable on all the production processes. Any manufacturing and production company can use this proposition (or Law) to their betterment. Is Tony right in his analysis of the situation? Explain. According to my point of view, Tony's decision of increasing the price a g...

sandwich became irrevocably associated with submarines. The third popular theory claims that the term comes from Dominic Conti, an Italian who immigrated to New York in the early 1900s. His granddaughter Angela Zuccar has stated that her grandfather started a grocery store, called Dominic Conti's Grocery Store, on Mill Street in Paterson, New Jersey, selling the traditional Italian sandwiches there. He had brought the recipe from Italy. According to Zuccar, her grandfather first used the term when she was 16 years old at the time, when he went to see the first experimental 14-foot submarine called Holland I, and said: “It looks like the sandwich I sell at my store.” As is known, there are a number of regional words for this type of sandwich. What are they, and where are they used? There are quite a few other terms for the “submarine sandwich”, including: Heros – used in New York Grinder – used in New England

At one point, Thatcher, became publicly concerned with environmental issues in the late 1980s. In 1988, she made a major speech communicating the problems of global warming, ozone depletion and acid rain. Margaret Hilda Thatcher began losing her popularity in 1989. Thatcher's political downfall was, according to witnesses such as Alan Clark, one of the most dramatic episodes in British political history. I think that Margaret Thatcher has affected Britain and eaven the whole world in many ways and all intelligent people knows something about that significant woman.

The climate in Estonia

beginning of March. Often, at the end of October till the end of November, when it is quite cold there already, it hails. Hailstones are almost as big as pin's head. It very often sleets in winter because of too warm temperature. Snow melts before it reaches the ground. Sometimes, in the middle of October, you can see coat of frost on the ground in early morning. This is the sign of that the winter is soon coming. Summers there are quite warm, windy and rainy. According to some passed summers it is now raining more and longer than previous years. As you can see now, winters in Estonia are not very pleasant, summers are more likeable but they are also not even reaching perfection. I think it is all because of Global Warming.

Different nations

When they see, for example, a black-skinned person ,they start whispering. However, people who grew up in countries with wide diversity, are much more tolerant. They meet different origins and skin colours every day. Different cultures make the country interesting place to live. They can introduce their customs and culture to others and in time the cultures blend and become one. Different people have dissimilar religion. They believe according to their beliefs. Usually people follow their religion and do not tolerate other beliefs. Such behavior may cause conflicts between the people with different religions. Even if we don't have other nations in our country, we'd be affected by the media, so we'll still use English words in our everyday talk and so on.Different nations should accept each others culture, language and traditions. Then it would not be that hard to live side by side.

Air pollution in Japan

transport, cleaning smokestacks, laws, renewable sources, The history Industrial activity in Japan devoloped rapidly after the World War II. People became really sick and described it as more horrible suffering than death. In the 1970s Japan managed to clean up without sacrificing growth by investing in pollution-control technologies. They made new laws. It was the start of "Japan's Pollution Diet". Today, Japanese cities are among the world's least polluted, according to the World Health Organization. Air pollution in Japan The air pollution is different in different seasons. During the winter air pollution in Japan is particularly bad since the polluted air comes not only from industrial and vehicle emissions within Japan, but also from polluted air masses that are derived from China. An example letter

Dear Sir/Madam, 22 May 2013 I am writing to you in order to complain about the extraordinary opening hours of your National Museum of Physic Art. There were several aspects that I was sincerely dissatisfied with, and I hope that in the nearest future you will take steps to eliminate these faults. To begin with, I arrived at your museum at exactly 11.12, yet the ticket office was still closed even though according to the advertisement every door should have been opened by 11 o'clock. However, when I started to look for another gate or entrance, there were none at all. It seems that the front door of your museum is very difficult to find without a map. As for more, the staff working was extremely rude! I was trying to ask for my location and how to enter the museum but all I ever heard as a reply was insulting mumble and no clear sentences. Of course, that might have been rather understandable if we

Dalai Lamas have actually ruled Tibet; regents ruled during 77 percent of the period from 1751 until 1960.The Communist Party of China gained control of central and western Tibet after a decisive military victory at Chamdo in 1950. The 14th Dalai Lama fled to India in 1959. Today, Tibet is part of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in reality and claimed by the Republic of China (ROC) in its constitution , while a small part, according to the PRC and the ROC, is controlled by India. Both sides of Chinese government regard Tibet as part of China. Currently, Beijing and the Government of Tibet in Exile disagree over when Tibet became a part of China, and whether the incorporation into China of Tibet is legitimate according to international law. Since what constitutes Tibet is a matter of much debate neither its size nor population are simple matters of fact, due to various entities claiming differing parts of the

Respect For Other People

It means that we accept people who- and like they are. Does not matter what skin color you have, do you love men or women or are you religious or not. No one in earth is the same as I am and I am not the same like they are. I have the right to be different and like other people should accept it, I should accept and respect them. To respect other people means some how to make compromises. It means that, we need to find the best possible solution. According to cultural background it can mean different things: mostly it has a positive meaning- as consent, an agreement where both parties win something; in the USA it may rather have negative connotations as both parties lose something. Often young people are using word Respect. Saying this word, it means they acknowledge someone with value. Sometimes respect can be taken wrong, like opening a door for a lady she might think

Letter and Essay 2008

Dear Mr Roberts I am writing to express my concern about the closing of the art studio and to bring out reasons why the art studio should be left open. Firstly, there are teachers at the studio, who offer tutoring for many artists. Furthermore, there are lots of necessary facilities. In addition, as the studio is located in an easily accessible area and opened around-the-clock, it is irreplaceable for lots of students. Moreover, young talents can exhibit their creations in the studio. In conclusion, it can be clearly seen that the art studio is important for many young artists, therefore we do not hesitate to even organise a protest march against closing the studio. I hope that the art department agrees and will not close donw the art studio. Yours sincerely, Mari Mets ESSAY Choices after secondary school Many young people decide to go univeristy after secondary school, while others think that...

Weather and climate

years can be accounted for by changes in the warmth from the Sun. This was caused by alterations in the Earth's orbit at periods of 96,000, 40,000 and 20,000 years. Although that theory is widely accepted as a possible explanation for ice ages, it has not been proved. More than 50 theories have been put forward, but only a few have not been completely dismissed. Not long ago a new theory was published in the science journal "Nature". According to Dr. Garry Hunt, of University College, intense radiations from the nuclear explosion of a nearby supernova a star could cause the destruction of part or all of the ozone layer and in this way trigger an ice age. As for me, I like autumn best of all. The trees are covered with yellow and red leaves. Colors of these leaves that just start to wither are warm and they comfort me when I feel down. Days become shorter and the nights longer. It isn't so hot in the daytime anymore
