Essee What does being free mean?

What does "being free" mean? Freedom plays an important role in our everyday life. It is hard to understand what "being free" mean as every person has his own view on it, which depends on our lifestyle and upbringings. There are a lot of kinds of freedom in the modern world. It can affect on people`s life positively as well as may cause different problems. To begin with, there are certain arguments in favour of being free. Firstly, people in developed countries have a freedom of speech. As a result, democratic policy in such regions offers a great opportunity to citizens to have their opinions heard and be considered. Moreover, some people suggest that being free mean material independence. If a man provide himself (materially), he is able to act as he wants to do it. In spite of having many advantages, being free may also be harmful for certain people. The most important disadvantage is that too much freedom in children`s upbringings ...

ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces." We have reached a situation where people communicate much less face to face. They communicate much more on the internet in chat rooms. It has created a situation where people have a problem with formal e-mails or documents. We have reached a situation, where many people think, it is normal, when you are always online in facebook or on the internet. There have been incidents when people have not been able to keep their promises. They have made appointments but have decided to cancel them and have sent an e-mail. Unfortunately, the other person has not read the mail. In addition to, some people would like to live in the virtual world. Their minds are always on a video game. It is like a drug or narcotic. It affects people mentality and damages spirit. We have cases where people freak out and don't even take care of their own hygiene. Our society has children who come home

Computerised world – a better or a worse place to live in ?

Computerised world – a better or a worse place to live in ? Although computers are said to be one of the most successful inventions there are many people who do not totally agree with that saying. Computers are able to do everything that make our life easier, but why are there still so many different opinions about ones' usefulness? The positive side of having computers in our life is how much it actually changes our life and makes it easier. There are no problems, I mean literally no problems that computers could not do. Computers are used to find information, read news, study, and some even play computer games. But

think of them. What is more, people often spend more time with their virtual friends chatting rather than dedicating time to the people that truly care about them. A final key argument relates to people turning lasier, with internet people will go less outside to make real friends that they can learn to know and can examine their behaviour. Even so virtual world has its benefits. One of the biggest is that you are able to meet a lot of more people than you can in real life. It also gives us a better opportunity to learn from other cultures. In fact many teenagers learn a lot from foreign friends whom they have met through the internet. This helps us to see life in a different perspective. With internet people do not have to feel lonely, you can have as many friends as you like to keep you company. Overall in my opinion, virtual world is a good thing as long as you can make a difference

Science reigns people

gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.”. The more one thinks about his words, the more they have to be accepted. It is true that science affects people, but the most influential is the part that directly concerns them and their lives. That is why this essay will take a closer look at some of the pros and cons of medical development. I will begin with the positive aspects of medical evolution. Firstly, thanks to advanced medicine, doctors are able to detect diseases at an early stage, or even before they arise, which gives people a longer life. Secondly, knowing how diseases spread and behave is possible with the help of medicines to avoid huge outbreaks that could kill thousands of people. Thirdly, studies will be helping to make the medicaments less harmful. Fourthly, making complex transplant operations can help many people to survive and live a full life.

The topic Im going to speak about is marriage

There is an opinion that some people say that everyone should use public transport instead of cars. I don’t agree with that argument, because riding on public transport is not always comfortable and convenient. Firstly I would like to say that you have to adjust the time and you cant go where you need at any time. For example to call a taxi you have to wait when in will arrive. To take the bus you have to know timetable when busses run. Secondly, if you have your own car then you will able to sit in car at any time and go from point A to point B. In driving time you will have opportunity to make stops In conclusion want to say, that riding on the bus is cheaper than on your own car. As I know that many peoples choose to use their own cars, because it makes you life easier.

Marxism

class society as such.  Why to be against Marxism? 1. Marxism removes incentive, with the slogan “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” which implies that you should only get what you need, regardless of productivity or skill, which discourages people from working hard, forces production to fall, which reduces wealth, and ultimately societal wellbeing. 2. Equality of outcome would stop productive people from being able to produce as much as they can and force those less gifted to work to the bone. 3. Classless society means there’s no need in making a step forward in self-growth in order to gain higher positions which directly leads to hire wealth  Would Marxism work in modern world? From my point of view, no. These thought is because of the fact that modern society with all its achievements of science, technique and industry point the way forward to a dazzling future of

Is It a Crime to Download Music Free of Charge?

Is It a Crime to Download Music Free of Charge? Nowadays, a lot of people listen to music on their computer and most of the time they download it illegally. I obviously understand that it is illegal and we should not do it but the question is, should we be able to do it legally. To begin with, music is a big part of our lives. If children were not given the ability to cheer them up with music, the depression levels would definitely be higher, as well as less motivation in children. For an example, the average American child listens to 4 hours of music in a day. I personally listen to at least 5 hours of music a day and all that from the computer when I get home. Secondly, the artists would not have such big crowds at their shows and concerts

Towns in Roman Britain

The only toilets were public lavatories, which were built around the town and connected to underground sewers. What could you find in most Roman towns? Most towns would also have shops as well as the forum. At one end of the forum was a large building called the basilica. There were temples too where the Roman gods were worshipped. What were Roman buildings made of? Buildings were made of stone and brick. They were so well built that we have been able to excavate many Roman buildings and even towns. What were the names of the Roman towns? The three largest were London, Colchester and St. Albans. Colchester was their main town. The Romans called towns with different names to what we know them as today. Lindum (Lincoln) Eboracum (York)

The Life of Dante, the Inferno of Dante

wrote "The Unilateral Imagination; or, I too Dislike it", in his Essays of Four Decades. This critique was established from a lecture given by Tate in 1955 based on his works. An example of Dante's ability to tell so much in one single word was expressed by Tate when he cited the word "ombre" which translates "shades," to remind us of the continuity of the Christian Hell and Virgil's pagan Hades. "Shades" are referred to as three-dimensional bodies, able to feel pain as if they were alive in solid ice and immobile, yet to have the intensity of fire. If Dante had tried to touch one of them, his hand would have met no physical resistance since the shades would melt into the air. Tate stands in awe of Dante's abilities to express such a large concept or picture in so few words. He says, "I believe we all wish we had been able not only to write better poems, but poems that say much

The economic theory of · monopolistic competitive markets, · oligopoly and · monopoly is used to suggest the nature of problems that may exist when firms or agents have market power and are able to distort prices away from the purely competitive optimum. The existence of market power is tied to the demand conditions the firm faces. 3. Language. Two sections of the brain responsible for language were found to be larger in women than in men, indicating one reason that women typically excel in language-based subjects and in language- associated thinking. Additionally, men typically only process language in their dominant hemisphere, whereas women process language in both hemispheres. This difference offers a bit of protection in case of a stroke. Women may be able to recover more fully from a stroke affecting the language areas in the brain while men may not have this same advantage. 4. Emotions. Women typically have a larger deep limbic system than men, which allows them to be more in touch with their feelings and better able to express them, which promotes bonding with others. Because of this ability to connect, more women serve as caregivers for children. The down side to this larger deep limbic

H. G. Wells

He aspired to a different place in society. When he was thirteen, he left school to become a draper's apprentice, a job his family expected would be proper for a boy of his station. The work repelled him, however. He worked briefly in a drugstore, returned for a stint as a draper's assistant, then finally found a job as a teacher's assistant in a grammar school. Education and academia suited him well. In 1884 he entered college with a scholarship to study biology. He was able to study under one of the great biology teachers of the time, Thomas Henry Huxley, and Wells graduated in 1888. The writings of Jules Verne undoubtably influenced Wells, and he wrote his first novel, The Time Machine, partly in response to this new kind of literature that Verne produced. The story appeared in various forms in magazines from 1888 to 1894 and was released in its current form in 1895. The book was successful, and Wells did not need to teach or worry about money from that time on.

Advantages and disadvantages of taking a cap year - essay

to enjoy young life, because life never becomes easier and the next chance to stretch out could be when we reach our pension time. To go on a bit longer holiday abroard with best friends is for sure expensive, but I think that it would be the time to remember. A gap year can change the option made earlier which subject a student wanted to study in university, and maybe it is the only time when a student is able to think what he/she really wants. A year off can also ruin the rhythm of studying. It might happen that a student does not want to go back to school after a nice holiday and instead of going back to school he/she would prefer working, earning money and starting a personal life. I think that if a person has his/her clear sights, a gap year would do only good. It may be the time to move on with life, to start a personal life, to stabilize everything and after that

Ideal marriage

This is due to the variety of couples and views on life. Fortunately, there are some basic traits that all succesful wedlocks have in common. In order for a marriage to work, it needs to have the full attention of both participants. Both man and woman need to respect each other, including their duties, rights and responsibilities towards one another. In my opinion, a perfect marriage has to be a partnership. Both husband and wife need to be able to speak their minds without feeling judged or worse, ignored. Furthermore, one of the most important aspects to happy marriages is the couples ability to stand together and plan their future. It is especially vital for newlyweds to have clear plans for their upcoming life together. For example, i think it is very important for both sides to express their wishes on whether or not they want children in the near future. Marriage should not be rushed into

English essay The Future of Education

The face of education is changing rapidly because of direct injection of computer technology into schools. Online courses soon will prevail over the traditional high school and college education. Online Universities will create classes sponsored by companies. These companies will direct the universities on the materials of the course. The company will then offer those who pass the course a job. This will create a worker who will not be able to do his job without a computer. Teachers will take a backseat in these courses. There is also a chance that Teachers will have an easier job in the future, they will instruct the students only if needed. Also on the horizon are smart objects. These objects are geared more to small children then those that are in high school or college. Objects with animations such as building blocks that can talk and light up to indicate to a child how to stack them correctly. But that can also have

How to become successful?

But what could be the gameplan when inching one's way towards success in my point of view? First of all, i believe that figuring out the path one wants to follow in life and being persistent on staying on that path is even more important than a well-rounded education. An excellent example to support that idea is Steve Jobs, one of the founders of Apple Inc., who had a poor education, but a clear vision of what he wants to do. Conclusively, one will be able to foresee even some of the hurdles one will or will not have to overcome, a physicist knows, that his physical condition won't be a barrier on his way to success. Secondly, resilience should be a key word for every success-seeker. Everyone meets setbacks in terms of opposing people, financial troubles, or one might just be lacking in time. However, giving up on one's dreams is definitely not the solution. Depending on the problem

was expelled due to his participation in revolutionary activities. Then he spent the summer on the islands of Åland in Finland and after that moved on to Paris. There Mägi practised drawing at free academies. After that, he lived in Norway, where he actually executed his first masterpieces a series of Norwegian landscapes. In 1912 Konrad Mägi returned to Estonia where Tartu became his main place of residence, and where he began to teach drawing. At the end of his life he was no longer able to carry on his work due to serious lung disease. He also destroyed one part of his invaluable works during hysteric attacks. He died at the age of forty-six in Tartu neural clinic. At the time "Valgjärv" (1916-1917) was painted, the artist painted mostly in South Estonia and in connection with that there occurred a change in his choice of motifs. A person who has committed a crime loses his/her right to be

a crime, doesn't have accurate posture, because there can be many different reasons why a crime was committed and what kind of reasons did it have. Second, another area, where we can find inequality, is at work. When looking for a job, first of all, people without criminal past are chosen first. Employers tend to choose their employees regarding to the past, because they are careful about a person they choose to work with. You should be able to trust a person, to rely on him/her and who can value honesty and work ethics. Quite frequently people who committed a crime aren't even given a chance to prove, can they can also be valuable employees. The painting is famous, in particular, for the elusive smile on the woman's face, its mysterious quality brought about perhaps by the fact that the artist has subtly shadowed the corners of the mouth and eyes so that the exact nature of the smile cannot be determined. The shadowy quality for which the work is renowned came to be called Leonardo's Smoke. During his lifetime Leonardo was valued as an engineer. In a letter to Ludovico il Moro he claimed to be able to create all sorts of machines both for the protection of a city and for siege. When he fled to Venice in 1499 he found employment as an engineer and devised a system of moveable barricades to protect the city from attack. He also had a scheme for diverting the flow of the Arno River in order to flood Pisa. People gain a lot from foreign travel

Essay: People gain a lot from foreign travel There is a saying that many people gain a lot from foreign travel. In myopinion, it is certainly true. Every person tries to travel as much as possible. There is a huge number of advantages of foreign travel and I would like to describe some of them. One of the significant benefits is knowledge that we gain from travelling. It is quite an expensive hobby and poor people can`t afford it. They are not able to get experience in different foreign cultures because such people do not travel at all. Every culture differs from another and it is not possible to learn all of them. But everyone should try to see the difference between our and foreign culture. Furthermore, learning from travelling is more interesting and funny than learning at home. Moreover, one particular thing about culture is the unique food. Review: Educating Rita

The film begins with Rita's arrival to the university, where she wants to discover herself and get educated before having children. There she also meets first time with her tutor Frank. Since the first time they meet, Rita knows that she wants Frank to be her tutor. Frank, however, finds that Rita is rare and unique. That is also the reason, why Frank did not want to teach Rita, he did not want her to change. Thanks to the efforts and sacrifices Rita is able to achieve what she was wanting. The film ends as Frank is sent to Australia and Rita realises that the life with education has the same problems. I think that this film is for everybody. It speaks about finding yourself and about desire to find and develope yourself, which can come anytime, at age 15 or at age 55. For kids under 15 it could be a bit difficult to understand because it is with deep thought.

A short story

Fortunately, my friend lived nearby, so I rushed to her house. When I arrived, she said her mom had driven to work 5 minutes ago, otherwise she would have picked me up. So we called a taxi but I had to wait for another 15 minutes. When I finally arrived I had already given up hope. I was suprised by a secretary who greeted me with a smile and said she was happy that I had received her message about the one-hour-delay of the interview. But I didn't have my cellphone with me, so I wasn't able to read that message! It turned out that the people in that company were all very kind and they gave me the possibility for a one-day work trial. When I had finished the day I left as a new employee. When I thought about the day's adventures, I smiled. Everything had come out right in the end.

Jutustus " My dream house"

There are a majority of mirrors and wardrobes. There is no question that the accent of the house is living room, as it is the place where I can relax, watch TV, listen to music or just sit and look at the fire. In case I am speaking about my dream house, I must say that there without fail are sports hall with all modern and expensive sports equipment, and little relaxing sauna. There I could get a great rest for my body after hard day. In addition to this, I am able to add that there is a big kitchen in my dream house. The kitchen must be light and have all modern equipment such as huge fridge, microwave, modern oven, vacuum saucepans, dishwasher and some other things as dresser with amazing dishes. Oh, it just occurred to me that I've forgot to tell about furniture. My dream furniture is upholstered, comfortable, and elegant. Usually, it must make my dream house as cozy as it is possible. Another important thing which needs to be mentioned is that

Advertising has a bad influence on children

To begin with, childrens are defenseless. They do not understand the ads or commercials, they do not know that it is only a business plan. Advertisements are made in such a way as to attract the attention of children. And that leads to there that children ask their parents to buy some certain products. Children are very useful customers for companies, they help businesses to increase their profits. Secondly, children are often able to remember messages targeted towards adults and kids remember the content in advertisements what will have a influence on children for a very long time. Very large influence on children has junk food commercials or ads. When children see on TV junk food commercials they want to try it, and when they do, they become to like junk food, but children do not understand that junk food is not good for their health. They are unaware of the fact that junk food does not contain nutritional value.

Lui finds herself unable to choose between a man who claims to love her enough to kill for her and one who claims to love her, but feels sadistic temptation to kill her. My opinion of what author tries to say: Nobody can't tell what You should like and dislike Everybody changes, but are still able to fit in We all have bats in our belfry There are lots of things in the world that most of the people have never seen Author tries to present a different world (Hitomi has stretched her ears, so she knows about alternative/punk/goth etc. kind of stuff) The movie trailer Trailer of the movie can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63QcVOWFYnw&fea "I want to be part of an underground world where the sun doesn't shine, there are no love

Equality

Equality Equality is a very important subject in todays world. Even though people of all races, social statuses and of both sexes have more equal rights in just about everything today, than they have had throughout history, there are still many places in the world and lots of topics, where equality is still a big problem. The point of equality, is for everyone to have the same opportunities. In a society with perfect equality, everyone would be able to do what they want, no matter where they are from, how wealthy their parents are, what color their skin is and so on. A persons gender or skin color wouldn't matter, if he or she would apply for a job or candidate for a political position. The same goes for voting rights and the laws would also be the same for everyone. A good example of how modern countries have more equality among their citizens is the United States of America. Just 56 years ago African Americans had to sit in the back of
