no direct input in policy decisions. The Reform Act of 1832 had set the standard of legislative authority residing in the House of Lords, with executive authority resting within a cabinet formed of members of the House of Commons; the monarch was essentially removed from the loop. She respected and worked well with Lord Melbourne (Prime Minister in the early years of her reign) and England grew both socially and economically. On Feb 10th, 1840, only three years after taking the throne, Victoria took her first vow and married her cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Their relationship was one of great love and admiration. Together they bore nine children between 1840 and 1857 - four sons and five daughters: Victoria, Bertie, Alice, Alfred, Helena, Louise, Arthur, Leopold, and Beatrice. Most of her children married into other Royal families of Europe.

Inglise keele ajalugu, essee "My languages"

She was the one who got me reading books in English. I've never stopped. During a few final years they also tried getting some Latin into our soon-out-of-school heads, but the project failed miserably. Firstly, Latin is tough. The grammar part is crazy, to my not so humble opinion. Secondly, we had uni students to teach us, and each and every one of them had different ideas how it should be done and how to interest a big bunch of overgrown teenagers – especially since Latin classes were the 10th or 11th in a day, so everyone was dead tired and braindead by that time. So we got a taste of grammar – horrible! - a bunch of proverbs! - yay, something useful for a change! - some texts – can't remember a damn thing et cetera et cetera. This concludes the languages I've learned from school. University has added some Hebrew – pretty cool, especially how it's written and how they actually added letters to the Bible without actually changing a word; and some Greek. Oh yes, there's Greek

and Middle Anglia. In the 9th century, the Viking challenge grew to serious proportions. Alfred the Great's victory at Edington, Wiltshire, in 878 brought intermittent peace, but with their possession of Jorvik the Danes gained a solid foothold in England. An important development in the 9th century was the rise of the Kingdom of Wessex; by the end of his reign Alfred was recognised as overlord by several southern kingdoms. Near the end of the 10th century, there was renewed Scandinavian interest in England, with the conquests of Sweyn of Denmark and his son Canute. By 1066 there were three lords with claims to the English throne, resulting in two invasions and the battles of Stamford Bridge and Hastings, the results of which established Anglo-Norman rule in England. Tudor England Tudor period was between 1485-1603. First King of Tudor period was Henry VII. He won

They had their own customs and laws, which we know due to sagas (oral history). They had no written language. Beowulf Beowulf is an epic or a long poem describing the adventures of an hero. It belongs to the Anglo-Saxon period, when they were still living on the mainland and then brought to Greta Britain . It was made up in the 3rd or 4th century. I was spread orally until it was written down in the 10th century. The author is unknown and the manuscript is kept in the British Museum (near Trafalgar Square). The story is very important as it allows us to lear about the way of life in the 4th century. The characters can be divided into two groups fictitious and historical. The epic deploys many metaphors - e.g. the sea = the swan's road, body = a house for bones and alliteration. It is structured as two parts. In the first part King Hroghtgar, king of Danes built a

They also built Hadrian's Wall in 122 A.D. Romans occupied Britain for four centuries. The Roman way of life all vanished after the invasions from Northern Europe by the Angles, Saxons and Jutes from the 5th century onwards. They ruined Londinium, but they were easily turned into Christianity and religion became more and more important. The Vikings, who came in the 9th century, first raided England to plunder it, but then they decided to stay. In the 10th century England fell under Danish Rule, with King Canute finally managing to unite the Anglo-Saxons and Danes at the beginning of 11th century. Prague(praha)

The Moravians (the ancient lands of Moravia now form 7 the eastern part of the Czech Republic) were ultimately undone by internal conflicts, especially with the Czechs, who finally broke away from the empire. Prague Castle (Prazsk hrad, or just hrad to the Czechs) was built in the 870s by Prince Boivoj as the main seat of the Pemysl dynasty. Vysehrad sometimes served as an alternative in the 10th and 11th centuries. Christianity became the state religion under the rule of the pious Wenceslas (Václav in Czech), duke of Bohemia (r c 925-29), now the chief patron saint of the Czech people. Wenceslas was the 'Good King Wenceslas' of the well-known Christmas carol written in 1853 by English clergyman John Mason Neale. Netherlands

The Netherlands became part of Lotharingia (Lorraine) and still later, in 925, part of the Holy Roman Empire. At that time a Dutch nation did not exist, and the immediate loyalties of the inhabitants were to local lords. Gradually over the next centuries the whole region came to be called the Low Countries, or Netherlands, including present-day Belgium. (3) 7 During the 9th and 10th centuries Scandinavian raiders, called Vikings, frequently invaded the coastal areas, sailing far up the rivers in search of loot. The need for a stronger system of defenses against such marauders gradually led to an increase in the power of the local rulers and their vassals, the nobles, who were largely a warrior class. Concurrently, the towns began to grow in importance, as artisans and merchants settled in them and improved their defenses. The

perhaps as early as the First Dynasty, although the first evidence is from the account books of King Neferirkare Kakai of the Fifth Dynasty (about 2400 BC). Papyrus sheets were glued together to form a scroll. Tree bark such as lime (Latin liber, from which also comes library) and other materials were also used. According to Herodotus (History 5:58), the Phoenicians brought writing and papyrus to Greece around the 10th or 9th century BC. The Greek word for papyrus as writing material (biblion) and book (biblos) come from the Phoenician port town Byblos, through which papyrus was exported to Greece. From Greek we also derive the word tome (Greek: ), which originally meant a slice or piece and from there began to denote "a roll of papyrus". Tomus was used by the Latins with exactly the same meaning as volumen. Whether made from papyrus, parchment, or paper, scrolls were the dominant form of book in the

years: allowance must also be made for the fact that each Hijri century corresponds to only 97 years in the Christian calendar. The year 1428 AH coincides almost completely with 2007 CE. Islamic holy days fall on fixed dates of the lunar calendar, which means that they occur in different seasons in different years in the Gregorian calendar. The most important Islamic festivals are Eid alFitr on the 1st of Shawwal, marking the end of the fasting month Ramadan, and Eid alAdha on the 10th of Dhu alHijjah, coinciding with the pilgrimage to Mecca. History Islam's historical development resulted in major political, economic, and military effects inside and outside the Islamic world. Within a century of Muhammad's first recitations of the Qur'an, an Islamic empire stretched from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to Central Asia in the east. This new polity soon broke into civil war, and successor states fought each other and outside forces

PETROLEUM

Tallinn 2013 Ott Speek Subject: English Geodesy Study group: GI-21b PETROLEUM PRESENTATION Petroleum (L. petroleum, from Greek: Πέτρα (rock) + Latin: oleum (oil) is a naturally occurring flammable liquid consisting of a complex mixture of hydrocarbons of various molecular weights and other liquid organic compounds, that are found in geologic formations beneath the Earth's surface. The name Petroleum covers both naturally occurring unprocessed crude oils and petroleum products that are made up of refined crude oil. A fossil fuel, it is formed when large quantities of dead organisms, usually zooplankton and algae, are buried underneath sedimentary rock and undergo intense heat and pressure. Petroleum is recovered mostly through oil drilling. This comes after the studies of structural geology (at the reservoir scale), sedimentary basin analysis, reservoir characterization (mainly in terms of porosity and perme...

Sedamööda kuidas teaduslikud avastused (ja hüpoteesid) on muutnud ebanormaalsuse seletusi, on muutunud klassifikatsiooni alused ja rühmad. Praegu on haiguslugude pidamise ja statistika aluseks RHK-10 (ICD-10 ehk 10th revision of the International Classification of Disorders), mille on kehtestanud Maailma Tervishoiuorganisatsioon (WHO) 1992. a. Psüühika- ja käitumishäired on selle klassifikatsiooni V peatüki sisuks, kõigi selle peatüki häirete kood algab tähega F. small. They led roughly the same way of life and spoke two variants of the same Germanic tongue (which combined to form the basis of modern English). By the end of the tenth century England was one kingdom with a Germanic culture throughout. Under Norman rule the Anglo-Saxons and Danes gradually and peacefully merged into one people – the English people. 39 Notes 1. The Vikings were excellent seamen, fishers and shipbuilders. In the 9th – 10th centuries they sailed as far as Novgorod and Kiev. Constantinople and Cicily, Iceland, Greenland, and North America (A Viking leader Leif Eriksson reached it about the year 1000, that is 500 years before Columbus). Armed gangs of Vikings raided nearly all the European countries. The inhabitants of coastal and inland cities often collected money to pay them off. Besides the British Isles, the Vikings settled in Iceland, Greenland and a part of north-

ESTONIAN SYMPHONIC MUSIC. THE FIRST CENTURY 1896-1996.

The absolute value of music may be recognised, but it is not possible to prove it. Who tries to demonstrate it has understood the problem primitively. The matter becomes clearer if we estimate it from the absolute standpoint. The yardstick is spiritual beauty, religion, sublime beauty.2 1 The Estonian newspaper “Välis-Eesti” in Sweden, May 18, 1981, p.2. 2 In personal conversation at his home October 10th, 1999. EINO TAMBERG May be God really exists but He has not come to me. If He comes and if I recognise Him then I shall believe. Simply a hand-touch of another person, this is an individual God for me. To be joyous is an appreciable action in society. In us, there is really too much seriousness and angry struggle. Too little smiling. 1 In this mode of music I am composing the human being or his psyche is the essential thing

additional note: "I took the decision of not crossing the Vistula." The message was dated 8:40 a.m.; by 4 p.m. the Austrian liaison officer had brought it to the attention of the German headquarters. Knowledge of Novikov's decision determined the initially successful Austro-German tactics of the battles of the Vistula and San rivers. Other intercepts were valuable in more local situations. A message of Prince Engalitschev, colonel of the 10th Russian Cavalry Division, warned of a strong attack on the fortress of Przemysl; the prepared commander easily warded it off until the Austrian advance forced the Russians to lift the siege in mid- October. During this advance, Pokorny's group solved as many as 30 cryptograms a day. It was at about that time that the Russians made their first key change. It apparently consisted only of altering the order in which the cipher alphabets were to be used, the alphabets themselves remaining

88 seconds 300-meter fly-in 36.00 seconds The workout distances are then randomized between 15 meters and 55 meters, such as 55 meters < 5.57 seconds. This means that Scott's workout is a series of 10 runs of 55 meters that must not exceed 5.57 seconds each. Four-minute rests are taken in between runs. If Scott does not run under 5.57 in his rst attempt, he is given one more opportunity to make it on a second run. If he exceeds his time on this second run, or any "rep" before his 10th, his workout is finished for that day. This is a sharp contrast to conventional methods. Sprint coaches usually tell their runners to run "repeats" at a particular distance and at a particular speed. A typical workout prescription might be "10 × 100-meter runs at 80% of top speed." Unfortunately, no one knows when he or she is running at 80%, or any other percent for that matter. Coaches also prescribe so-called "over-distance" runs to improve "speed endurance." This is
