Estonian Language Estonian laguage(previously called ,,ground language" by estonians in old days) belongs into Finno-Ugric language group. It is spoken by about 1.1 million people, mostly in Estonia. Some people have said Estonian reminds them of the sound of babbling water. Some non-Estonian people I know just say it sounds weird. Estonian language is closely related to Finnish. Originally they were a single language but they parted about 5000 years ago. Most of Estonian vocabulary is borrowed from other languages like German ang English.
