Estonian Environmental Strategy
According to the article in constitution, every person in Estonia is obliged to preserve environment
and to compensate for damage they cause. In the last fifty years, the use of natural resources has
been irrational. The result is that there are turned out many environmental problem areas and
preconditions for environmental crisis. Estonian environment was significantly polluted by Soviet
army and it takes decades to eliminate this.
After Estonia regained its independence, Estonia has moved towards a liberal and free market
economy. Different enterprises and various funds have financed large investments to address
enviromental problems. The main object of environmental protection is to provide everybody wtih a
healthy environment and natural reources without causing damage to nature. The other goal of
protection is to preserve biodiversity.
