Matlock Paper book review
Interesting and gripping but it had its downside, I think that there were way too
many descriptions about people. Despite of that I enjoyed reading The
Matlock Paper, Robert Ludlums´ 3rd thriller novel. Story is about English professor, James Barbour Matlock who is recruited by the Department of Justice to investigate a drug smuggling ring, led by a
mysterious figure named „Nimrod.“
Everything
starts with a man named Ralph Loring, who approaches Matlock, whose brother died due to an overdose of heroin. Ralph feeds James with the
information that the justice department has acquired over the years on Nimrod. Heared everything he just couldn´t resist taking the job although it puts his life in danger. Loring also gives James the document that plays very important role in this book. Just in the beginning of the book Loring is brutally murdered within minutes
after a meeting with Matlock. James still decides to start his
investigations. Nimrod finds out about Matlock and they try to stop
him. They even get his girlfriend brutally tortured and gang raped
which makes Matlock very emotional. Eventually James discovers something that not only puts his own life but also the life of the

Geography of the novel extends from east coast to west coast. It is also international because part of it takes place in france. Organization of LEIVA??, industrial interest, war and ??, art, expluatation, standardisation, dehumanistaion, degradation of ethical and cultural values. He is fascinated with outcasts, the alienated, the outsiders, people who have been beated with life, the descenters-those who don't agree with the majority are the descenters, they are interested in those people. The book follows the lives of nine characters. All aspects of the lives are represented to us, the rich are corrupt, the poor may be not so corrupt, decent, but they can accomplish nothing because they are poor. The unjust triumph and the whole trilogy ends with a memorable sketch of a young harmless hitchhiker who wants to catch a car on a highway that leads nowhere. The final scene is the big indictment-critisism of america, road to nowhere. It is one of the experimental novels
Libraries. We know a lot of things thanks to books, but we do not know exactly when and where they originated, and what should be considered the first book in the world. Ancient document, written on parchment, papyri and vellum can hardly be qualified as books the way we understand the word today. Centuries went before paper replaced parchment and papyri. In the 15 th century Johann Gutenberg invented a mechanical process of duplicating texts, which we today call book printing. The first book was printed between 1444 and 1446, so these years can be considered as the beginning years of book printing. His most important preserved printings are the 40 copies of the Bible. By the end of the 15 th century there were about 1000 print-shops in Europe already. The oldest Estonian book dates back to 1535.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) Introduction The Picture of Dorian Gray came out in 1891, in Estonian 1929. It is the only published novel written by Oscar Wilde and also considered as a classic gothic horror fiction with a little bit of philosophy in it. I decided to read this book in Estonian, because I have two books in this language available at home. The book I read was published by Eesti Päevaleht in 2007 and it consists of 184 pages. The story is centred on Dorian Gray, a young man of great beauty and on his portrait, painted by Basil Hallward. From my point of view, I think that Wilde wanted to teach us a lesson about being too conceited and having such a high opinion of oneself. It is well known that nobody gets away without punishment. A. T. Trolley’s Larkin at Work (1997) offers an insight into the genesis of a number of major poems and Larkin’s method of composition. Shorter essays add further aspects to the discussion of Larkin. Ruuben's butterflies: Kirsipiia The last book I read is Ruuben's butterflies: Kirsipiia written by an estonian writer Kiiri Saar. The book is published in September 2012. The main character in the book is a girl named Kirsipiia, who has just started the last year in school. She is unsociable and has only one friend in the class. She is also quite chubby and she is bullied in school. She thinks that life is quite boring and she hasn't got any idea how to brighten her world and what to do with her life.
