HOMES Almost 63% of British people own their own homes. There are about 25 million homes in the UK, of which seven out of 10 are owner-occupied. Most live in terraced houses and tower blocks located mainly in town centres, semidetached houses in districts nearer to town centres, or detached houses which usually lie in expensive suburbs, closer to the countryside than the centre. Many people live in rented accommodation, including council flats and houses built and owned by the local government. Modern council housing estates may be a mixture of different buildings, providing a variety of facilities for their inhabitants, such as play areas for children, a community centre, etc. Since the 1980s, council tenants have been allowed to buy their own homes very cheap if they have lived in them for more than two years
Living in the countryside a pleasant experience or a never-ending hardship? People have always had a choice where they want to live. Many years ago, a most of people did not have a choice where to live. It used to be that poor people lived in the countryside and rich people in the city. Nowadays it has changed. People can choose and most of them choose to live in the city. City and countryside are both different places where to live. Both have their positive and negative sides. There are differences in the environment, in job opportunities and how expencive or cheap is to live in the countryside. Those differences are making people to think about advantages and disadvantages of living in a countryside. There are several advantages, why to live in the countryside. Rural versus Urban Of course, living in a rural or an urban society-both have their strong sides and weak sides. I have lived in rural society for my whole life so I know how life outside city is. Best thing about not living in a town is the quietness. If you have lived in quietness for your whole life then you won't even understand how pleasant it actually is. But I have heard that many city peoples enjoys only the peace and quietness at countryside, because when you live in town you hear till morning to evening driving cars. Another big plus for rural environment is clean and beautiful nature. Forests where you can go camping and lakes where you can go swimming. It may look very exciting to an urban people but it may seem boring to rural people. So, good thing about living in city is that there are probably many more people who you can meet with. Essay Do live in the countryside or in the city? At the time I am living with my mother in the countryside. I am eighteen years old and when I finish school I want to be independent and live on my own. People say that when you live in the countryside you are living the easy life. I agree but physically it is very exhausting. You have to work hard to keep the house and yard clean. When you have a farm there is no lack of work and you always have your hands in the soil. At least there is always some action. Although living in the countryside has few bad sides, I am sure rural life stays always in my heart. To me country life has more pros than cons. I belive there are many cities in Estonia that are worth visiting.Most tourists come to Tallinn,the capital of Estonia,and they don`t go any further than that . For them going to the countryside is the best way to relax and to get to know the real living standards. In conclusion I would like to say that I personally believe that people who have thought of coming to Estonia for a relaxing vacation with their family should certainly do so. There are so many different ways to have a good time and at the same time educate yourself.We have a history full of surprises and interesting stories and people here are very friendly. When I was in grad school in Boston, a friend came to visit from New York. On the subway back from the airport she asked "Why is everyone smiling?" I looked and they weren't smiling. They just looked like they were compared to the facial expressions she was used to. If you've lived in New York, you know where these facial expressions come from. It's the kind of place where your mind may be excited, but your body knows it's having a bad time. People don't so much enjoy living there as endure it for the sake of the excitement. Nerds don't care about glamour, so to them the appeal of New York is a mystery.
