Aborigeenid (Inglise keeles)

ancestors in the Dreamtime. When the traditional music and songs were used, living men considered themselves to be in the Dreamtime. Particularly during initiation ceremonies. However 'new songs' were created from time to time. They told of important events in the history of the tribe. Events such as great battles or hunting expeditions. Other songs and music were for general amusement or entertainment and early European observations of the Aborigines included camp life where the people played games and sang songs around their camp fires. Almost all of the Koori (preferred name of Australian aborigines) shaman are initiated within one large group, called "The Dreamers". This is due to the fact that Australia has some of the strongest, and chaotic magic, around. All of the shaman are needed to put a check on that chaos. A Koori shaman takes only a small penalty for some tasks when astrally perceiving. As a trade off they are unable to mask

Inuit Culture

CARIBOU, NETSILIK, COPPER and Western Arctic Inuit (who replaced the MACKENZIE INUIT). There are five main Inuit language dialects in Canada, Inuvialuktun, Inuinnaqtun, Inuttitut, Inuttitut, and Inuttut that are collectively known as Inuktitut or Inuttituut. (see NATIVE PEOPLE, LANGUAGES) In the last census 32 580 people or reported Inuktitut as their mother tongue (first language learned). Traditionally, the Inuit were hunters and gatherers who moved seasonally from one camp to another. Large regional groupings were loosely separated into smaller seasonal groups: winter camps (called "bands") of around 100 people and summer hunting groups of fewer than a dozen. Each band was roughly identified with a locale and named accordingly - eg, the Arvirtuurmiut of Boothia Peninsula were called "baleen whale-eating people." During roughly 4000 years of human history in the Arctic, the appearance of new people has brought continual cultural change

Reading task

villains, monsters and sprites, wish fulfillment and epic feats of magic and courage. It taps into every high schooler's literary reference points while presenting the uninitiated with a wonderful set of seminal characters to champion. So why then does Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, come across as slapdash? Why does it feel rushed and strung together? We barely settle in to the story before our demi-god in training is attacked on a field trip, whisked off to Camp Half Blood, and is doing his best Theseus impression (look it up). Toss in some more CG beasties, a way too short cameo by Ms. Thurman as everyone's favorite serpent-headed gorgon, a gratuitous music montage to Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" and you've got a film that is desperate to balance the needs of folklore with the demands of a contemporary demographic. That might explain Brandon T. Jackson, who literally redefines the sentiment "a little goes a long way

E.M.Remarque "Läänerindel Muutuseta"

Before they can end the recruit's life, however, other soldiers begin to emerge from their holes. Summary Paul describes the unsanitary conditions of life at the front. Tjaden, tired of killing lice one by one, scrapes them off his skin into a boot-polish tin. He kills them by heating the tin with a flame. Haie's lice have red crosses on their heads, and he jokes that he got them at a hospital where they attended the surgeon general. Himmelstoss has arrived in the camp, proving the rumor true. He was caught tormenting his recruits excessively and has been sent to the front as punishment. Müller begins asking everyone what they would do if the war ended suddenly. Kropp says the war will not end, but Müller persists. Kat mentions his wife and children. The younger men mention women and getting drunk. Haie says that he would become a noncommissioned army officer since digging peat, his old job, is such a terrible occupation
