The secret life of Walter Mitty

youtube.com/watch?v=kGWO2w0H 2V8 The film was the newest film adaptation of the short story of the same title, written by James Thurber and was published in The New Yorker in 1939. Eight years later, a film adaptation was made starring Danny Kaye, though the story was entirely different from the original. In Stiller's movie, Walter is a single guy who is fixated on his co-worker (Kristen Wiig) but can't come up with enough interesting facts about himself to fill out his eHarmony profile. Walter is a photo editor for Life magazine, but he can't find the one shot from a famous photojournalist (Sean Penn) that is meant for the cover of the final issue. So he finally breaks free of his humdrum life to see the world and track down the missing photograph. Stiller ends up starring and directing the entire movie after much negotiation during the pre-production. Jim Carrey and Sacha Baron Cohen...

The Secret Life of Bees

I chose this movie because I am currently reading the book and I like the book very much. So I wanted to know if the movie is also good. The book was written by Sue Monk Kidd and the movie was a adapted version of it. As well as the book the synopsis is set in 1964 in South Carolina. The movie is mostly about a 14 year-old girl named Lily who is haunted by the memory of her late mother. And to escape the lonely and sad life that she has with her father she flees with Rosaleen and they fled to a town in South Carolina. There they start to work in the honey industry. Lily also meets Zach there. The movie was very interesting to me and a bit different form the book. I think that the casting was done great and many of the characters were exactly how I imagined them to be. The movie was really good and I would recommend it highly. ...

All the world's a puzzle;arutlev kirjand

All the world's a puzzle All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts, His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant, Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms. Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel And shining morning face, creeping like snail Unwillingly to school. And then the lover, Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier, Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard, Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel, Seeking the bubble reputation Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice, In fair round belly with good capon lined, With eyes severe and beard of formal cut, Full of wise saws and modern instances; And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts Into the lean and slippered pantaloon, With spectacles on nose and pouch on...

A Movie Review of Moliere

An historical love story, surrounded by affairs and intrigues, now retold in new colours, gained popularity amongst young and elderly, connecting those who prefer theatre, good humour and a little bit of sadness. It can be said that the play of the actors was one of the most successful challenges performed in front of the camera. They lived in the seventeenth century, talking and feeling everything as naturally as if they had been born around that time. The humour mostly gentle, sometimes cruel, described and criticised perfectly every aspect of the complicated society, the naïve King and the women who had secret love affairs. It is clear that the actors gave their best while filming the movie and got the result they may be proud of. As for more, the story itself is catching. The m...

Attraction of blogs

It is very common that people write those thoughts down, usually into their secret diaries. Nowadays individuals write public blogs, which using has grown quite popular. In my opinion, blogs have become more fashionable than keeping private diaries, because they are public. Everyone has access and a chance to read your own personal views. We live in a modern world, where information is crucial and selling, therefore keeping a blog on the Internet is a big attraction for readers. Furthermore, there are all kinds of journals on the web, for example food sites, where people can find many recipes for different meals. Also, fashion blogs, which can give inspiration if wondering what to wear for some kind of an occasion. Not only are the blogs entertaining, they can also be very helpful and useful. The writers of the blogs get attraction from the a...

Famous castles of Scotland

It is Scotland's second most visited tourist attraction. Human habitation of the site is dated back as far as the 9th century BC. As it stands today though, few of the castle's structures pre-date the Lang Siege of the 16th century, with the notable exception of St Margaret's Chapel, the oldest surviving building in Edinburgh, which dates from the early 12th century. As with all castles, Edinburgh's fortress has been a centre of military activity. As an ancient fortress Edinburgh Castle is one of the few that still has a military garrison, albeit for largely ceremonial and administrative purposes. The New Barrack Block is now home to the official headquarters of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and 52 Infantry Brigade, as well as home to the regimental museum of the Royal Scots and Royal Scots Dragoon Guards....

William Blake · William Blake (17571827) was an English poet, philosopher and artist. He was one of the most extraordinary personalities to emerge during the period of Romanticism. He began printing his own illustrated poems in colour in 1787. The first example was Songs of innocence(1789). Harry Potter ja segavereline prints - kokkuvõte

raamat, mis avaldati 2005. aastal. J. K. Rowling kirjeldab Harry Potteri seiklusi kuuendal kooliaastal võrratute üksikasjade ja huumoriga, tegevus on tempokas ja hoogne, sundides lugejat hingetult selle keerdkäike jälgima. SisuHarry Potter peab jällekord veetma suvevaheaja Dursleyde juures.

Carl Lewis

Carl Lewis The greatest and most famous athlete of the last century, who formerly won about 20 gold medals in four different events (100 m, 200 m, long jump and 4x100 relay), is called Carl, which is a nick that hides his true identity: Frederick Carlton Lewis. He was born on 1st July 1961 in Birmingham, Alabama, the same country of Jesse Owens for the will of doom: in fact his parents lived there fleetingly owing to their job. Third of five sons, he spent his childhood in Willingboro together with his younger sister Carol, Bill, his dad and Evelyn, his mother. Since his first years of life he could breath the soft and clean air of sport: his father used to train athletes at university and his mother was 6th at 80 m hurdles in the Pan-American games of 1951.He saw the Olympic games of 1968 on TV and could admire Bob Beamon: he was...

Straitland

Straitland Historical Facts Straitland has served as a junction of international trade routes for Vikings. Long struggle of power with foreign intruders has left ancient strongholds in Valjala, Lihula and Soontagana. The churches in Muhu, Valjala, Mustjala, Karja and Kihelkonna are honorable and elderly because Straitland was the one to bring Christianity to Estonia. The castle of Kuressaare is still standing proudly, but in Lihula only ruins can be seen. The patterns of national dresses and the churches bring memories of secret sign cultures of Medieval Times. Good knowledge of singing and facilit...

Oliver twist - kokkuvõte

She delivered a sickly child who had trouble breathing. The woman, without a word of who she was, died and left her new born boy, Oliver, to the drunken nurse that stood by. Chapter2: The State gave Oliver to Mrs. Mann who housed a number of orphaned children. Mrs. Mann took a large portion of the money given to her by the authorities for each child's food so Oliver grew up small and malnourished. On his ninth birthday, the town beadle, Mr. Bumble, came to collect Oliver and take him to the board for an interview. They told him he was to live with other wards of the state to become educated and learn a trade. Oliver did not mind this, but soon after he arrived, the state decided to implement a plan that would save money by feeding the people very little. After a time on this diet, the boys at the table chose Oliver to go ask the head cook for more...

Loomadel testitud toodete nimekiri !

Iga aasta teaduslaborites hukkuvad miljonid loomad karmide katsete tulemusel. Loomadel katsetatakse ravimeid, kosmeetikat, relvi. Vivisektsioonidel on palju alternatiive. Rahvusvaheline organisatsioon ,,Tudengid humaanse hariduse eest" on välja andnud kataloogi, milles on 400 alternatiivi vivisektsioonidele...

Exami kysimused-vastused

STYLE The term "style" is polysemantic (has many meanings): a Latin word "stilus" originally meant a writing instrument used by ancient people. Already in classical Latin the meaning was extended to denote the manner of expressing one's ideas in written or oral form. Jonathan Swift defined style as "proper words in proper places". In present day English the word "style" is used in about a dozen of principle meanings: 1. the characteristic manner in which a writer expresses his/her ideas (e.g. style of Byron) 2. the manner of expressing ideas, characteristic of a literary movement or period 3. the use of language typical of a literary genre (e.g. the style of a comedy, drama, novel). 4. the selective use of language that depends on spheres / areas of human activity (e.g. style of fiction, scientific prose, newspapers, business correspondence, etc.). The Picture of Dorian Gray

Mari Tiirik, i-2 Oscar Wilde "The Picture of Dorian Gray" Basil Hallward is a taciturn and solitary artist, who finds his perfect motif in a young boy called Dorian Gray, who is the model for his oil painted masterpiece. Due to the fact that Dorian is very handsome, actually even heavenly beautiful young man, a friend of Basil, a cynical aristocrat Lord Henry Wotton (Harry) finds great intrest in Dorian. Lord Henry Wotton wants to buy the picture, and moreover, he wants to meet the boy in the picture himself. Unfortunately, Dorian is an innocent and a pure child, this is why Hallward doesn't find the idea of these two men meeting, because he is afraid that Dorian won't find his relationship with Basil intesting and exciting anymore. Basil fell in love with Dorian while painting his picture. Basil also treated him good, kept his self- esteem and spirit up by saying all the great things about him, of how good he looks and how much...
