Gay rights

Gay rights According to an opinion widely held, homosexuality is said to be freer today than ever before. It is present and visible everywhere: in the street, in the newspapers, on television, at the movies. It is even supposedly completely accepted, judging by the recent legislative advances made in many countries for the recognition of same sex couples. Certainly, some work remains necessary in order to eradicate the last vestiges of discrimination. But with changing public opinion, it will only be, according to some people, a matter of time, the time needed for a movement begun many decades earlier to achieve its goals. To tell the truth, the 20th century has undoubtedly been the most violently homophobic period of history: deportation to concentration camps under the Nazi regime, Soviet gulags, blackmail and persecution in the United States in the McCarthy era... Obviously, all of that can seem very distant to us now. But quite oft...

All forms of media

All forms of Media Assuming you mean Broadcast Media, the single most important function of Media is to report events as they are happening. The advantage of this is that more people can be informed and therefore involved in the happenings of the day. But like any other facet of life these wonders can be corrupted by those with their own agenda. That is to say that a news agency can choose to omit some things from their broadcast to place a particular "spin" on the events. Using 9-11 as an example: Everyone saw the planes crash into the buildings but none REALLY knows why this happened. Same with the assignation of JFK. Information can be repressed or expounded to create misinformation that leaves us all wondering why. Mass Media refers to all forms of media that are open to and accessible by the public. This includes newspapers, television, internet, magazines, radio etc. Following are the advantages and disadvantages of mass media t...

The European Union Law , The EU institutions

TALLINN UNIVERSITY The Law School Law The European Union Law The EU institutions Lecturer: Matti Kauppi Student: Viktoria Gratšjova Tallinn, 2014 The institutions of the European Union form a complex and unique polity and, in determining whether or not this structure and the law making powers granted to each respective institution are inherently undemocratic, it is vital to define what is meant by the term ‘democratic’. In his Gettysburg address Abraham Lincoln referred to a government which was ‘of the people, by the people, for the people’and it is by this criterion that democracy is often judged. These principles are reflected in having equal access to power and in being equal before the law. It must be considered not only whether law making powers are granted to elected persons, but also whether the balance of power between institutions within the...

Kanep

Uurimustöö Kanep Juhendaja: Helen Oppar Koostas: Kevin Suurkivi Varstu 2009 ÜLDANDMED: Kanep ehk Cannabis üks levinumaid narkootikume, mis näiteks Hollandis on legaliseeritud. Kanep jaguneb omakorda marihuaanaks, hashiseks ja vedelaks hashiseks ehk vedelaks kanepiks. *Marihuaana on kanepi emastaimede kuivatatud ja peenestatud ladvad ja õisikuosad. *Hashis on tavaliselt valmistatud kanepi näärmerakkude vaigutaolisest eritisest käsitsi. *Vedel hashis on valmistatud hashise lahustamisel atsetoonis või alkoholis. Marihuaana sisaldab kanepi narkootilist mõjuainet THK-d kõige vähem, 1%-12%, aga on leitud ka 25% THK-d sisaldavat marihuaanat. Hashis sisaldab THK- d tunduvalt rohkem, umbes 8%-25%. Vedel hashis sisaldab THK-d kuni 60%. Cannabis indica ehk india kanep on kanepi alaliik, mida tuntakse cannabis sativa nime all on laialt tuntud ka meil. Misusing and Abusing the IoT - Now and in the Future The Internet of Things is the network of physical objects—devices, vehicles, buildings and other items which are embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity, which enables these objects to collect and exchange data [1]. As the amount of devices connected to the internet of things is constantly on the rise, making it innately more secure and protecting those devices from abuse, in a sense of unwanted access , manipulation by third parties and other scenarios, is rapidly turning into a pressing issue. According to some sources there were about 13.4 billion connected devices back in 2015 and the projections show there might be up to 38.5 billion such devices in 2020 [2]. As the number of devices increases, the necessity for a proper security mechanism concerning those devices becomes a priority in order to safely adopt the evergrowing internet of things into e...

Halduse kontrolli all mõistetakse avaliku administratsiooni üle teostatavat järelevalvet, mille ...

Võrdleva Poliitika kodutööd

Hiljuti USAs aset leidnud sündmuste ülevaade Obama kirjutas alla seaduseelnõule, mis suurendab USA võlalimiiti President Obama kirjutas alla Kongressi mõlemast kojast läbi pääsenud seaduseelnõule, mis laseb valitsusel laenata rohkem raha, et maksta sotsiaalkindlustushüvitisi ja riigitöötajate palkasid. Seega on riigi rahandusministeeriumil võimalus laenata $17.2 triljoni piirini, ilma et sellega kaasneksid eelarvekärped muude valdkondade arvelt nagu Obama juhitud tervishoiureform (BBC News, 13.02.2014). Samuti kirjutas president alla eelnõule, mille raames taastatakse nooremate veteranide hüvitised varem kehtinud tasemele. (NBC News, 16.02.2014) Samasooliste paaride õigused Kuu aja jooksul võtsid kahe USA osariigi Kansase ja Arizona kojad vastu sarnased eelnõud, mille kohaselt ei ole nimetatud osariikide ettevõtjad sunnitud pakkuma teenuseid samasoolistele paaridele, kaitstes sellega teenusepakkuja religioosseid uskumusi. Eelnõu...

TheCodeBreakers

Some of the things you will learn in THE CODEBREAKERS • How secret Japanese messages were decoded in Washington hours before Pearl Harbor. • How German codebreakers helped usher in the Russian Revolution. • How John F. Kennedy escaped capture in the Pacific because the Japanese failed to solve a simple cipher. • How codebreaking determined a presidential election, convicted an underworld syndicate head, won the battle of Midway, led to cruel Allied defeats in North Africa, and broke up a vast Nazi spy ring. • How one American became the world's most famous codebreaker, and another became the world's greatest. • How codes and codebreakers operate today within the secret agencies of the U.S. and Russia. • And incredibly much more. "For many evenings of gripping reading, no better choice can be made than this book." —Christian Science Monitor THE ...
