THE U.K Different Parts The United Kingdom is a short way of saying the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The UK is the political name for those countries which share a parliament in London. All of them were at one time independent kingdoms with their own monarch. Now they are all part of the same kingdom and share the same monarch. The UK consists of Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales. The peoples of these countries are British subjects; they hold British passports and therefore their nationality is British. The british Isles is the geographical name for all the islands off the west coast of Europe. These islands also include The Republic of Ireland, which is politically independent of the Britsh government. Many people refer to the inhabitants of the British isles as 'the English', but England is only one of the countries. The other countries are Scotla...
MATERJALITEHNOLOOGIA EKA 2009 Marita Lumi ehtekunst Kautsuk Objekt: Moosipurgikaane tihend. The Christmas season in the UK would be nothing without the traditional ,,panto". Comedians, singers and dancers perform in hilariously exaggerated ways. The shows are mostly aimed to children and are based on popular fairy stories and folk legends. Pantomime has become big business in the UK. It can often run for six to eight weeks. Pantomime needs to have a strong story line and has to include all the important elements as the good battling against the evil where the good must come out as a winner. Shows include comic chases and situations which are known as Slapstick comedy. This comedy takes its name from a magical device that makes slapping noise and is used by characters. The most famous of those pantomime clowns was Joseph grimaldi who made his first appearance in 1800. Pantomime now had its first real star.
BRITISH HISTORY 17TH-19TH CENTURY SEVENTEENTH-CENTURY ☄ When James I became the first English king of the Stuart dynasty, he was already king of Scotland, so the crowns of these two countries were united. ☄ The kind of Middle English spoken in lowland Scotland had developed into a written language known as Scots ☄ The Scottish Protestant church adopted English rather than Scots bibles ☄ Religion and politics are inextricably linked ☄ Some people tried to kill the king because he wasn't Catholic enough and another king had been killed, partly because he seemed too Catholic ☄ Anger grew in the country at the way that the Stuart monarchs raised money ☄ Puritanism- ideological Protestantism ☄ Some of them thought the luxurious lifestyle of the king and his followers was immoral. They were also fiercely anti-Catholic and suspicious of the apparent sympathy t...

Two holidays in the UK In the UK are many holidays, some are weird, some aren't. I describe two holidays, which I think are quite interesting. Bank holidays are public holidays in the United Kingdom, when banks and many other businesses are closed for the day. One bank holiday is Stiltion Cheese Rolling. Cheese Rolling has become an annual event in Stilton and every May Day hundreds of villagers and visitors make their way to the main street to watch the teams battling for the honour of being called the 'Stilton Cheese Rolling Champions'. The event is also Stilton village festival, and includes Maypole dancing, live music and other entertainment. There are side-shows, fairground rides, stalls, food and drink, and a concert in the evening. The Floral Dance always takes place on the 8th of May, except when that falls on a Sunday or Monday, when the Dance is held ...
Selles protsessis toimub korduv aurustumin...

The Middle Ages The Middle Ages are one of the most turbulent periods in English history. The Middle Ages are so called as the middle period between the decline of the Roman Empire and the Renaissance. The Middle Ages started in 1066. with the Battle of Hastings and the Norman Conquest. William the Conqueror took all the lands from the Saxon English and gave these to French nobles. Normans were known as great builders. This is assured by the fact that many great castles and other buildings, including the Tower of London, were built during the Norman Conquest. In 1086. Domesday Book was compiled. It is a detailed survey of England ordered by William the Conqueror. The reign of King William Rufus who was the son of William started in 1087 and lasted until 1100. Next king was Henry I who was the brother of William Rufus. His reign was from 1100-1135. In 1135 Henry I nephew Stephen got to the throne of Engla...
Vihmamantli leiutas samuti sotlane MacIntosh. Kautsuki esimeseks patenteeritud kasutusalaks oli vahend pliiatsikirja eemaldamiseks ehk siis kustutuskumm - leiutajaks kuulus keemik Priestley. Koostis Kummi koostises on Kautsuk, väävel, tahm või mõni muu aktiivne täiteaine ja lisandid. Kummi on kõrgelastne polümeer, mille põhiline koostisosa on vulkaniseeritud kautsuk. Jüri Gümnaasium THE GREAT PLAGUE IN LONDON Research paper Ervin Sagor 10.h Supervisor: Kristel Kriisa Jüri 2011 TABLE OF CONTENTS INTRODUCTION The history of England has always been fascinating for me and plague was one the most horrifying diseases in human history with millions of deaths across the world. That is why I chose the Great Plague as the topic of my research. The purpose of my study is to educate myself and gain more knowledge on the history and find out how people lived in England in the seventeenth century. For a start, I will give a short review what the bubonic plague is. Then I tell about Black Death in England before the Great Plague, city life before and during the plague. Secondly, I will examine how the plague reached Great Britain. ...
Beethoveni viies sümfoonia Käisin Estonia kontserdisaalis, 9. veebruaril kell 19 kuulamas „Beethoveni viiendat sümfooniat”. Kontserdil oli kavas: Sergei Prokofjevi klaverikontsert nr 3, C-duur ning Ludvig von Beethoveni sümfoonia nr 5 C-moll. Kontserdil esinesid Vladimir Mištšuk klaveril (Venemaa), Eesti Riiklik Sümfooniaorkester ning dirigendiks oli Nikolai Aleksejev. Valisin kontserdiks, mille põhjal kirjutada retsensiooni just seetõttu, et lähemalt tutvuda Sergei Prokofjevi loominguga, keda me tunnis põgusalt käsitlesime. Eesti Põlevkivi ehk kukersiit, mida peetakse maailma parimaks, paikneb Eesti kirdeosas umbes 6000km2 suurusel alal. Kukersiit on ordoviitsiumi madalmeres kuhjunud orgaaniline sete, olemuselt tüüpiline settekivim, mis koosneb umbes 50% ulatuses põlevast fossiliseeritud orgaanilisest ainest ja savi- ning lubiaine lisandist. Orgaanilist ainet (kerogeeni) on temas 15-70%.
Londoni üleujutused London on Suurbritannia pealinn, mis asub Thames'i jõe kallastel. Vee vooluhulk Thames'is on suur. 1983. aastaks valmiski Briti valitsuse algatusel Thames'i jõele hiiglaslik tõusubärjäär. Tormid omakorda toovad kaasa enamasti veema...

põhikool Depech Mode Referaat Koostaja: Kuupäev: 24. oktoober Pärnu 2009 Sissejuhatus Rock-muusika on laialdane ja varieeruv levimuusika suund, milles enamasti meloodilist vokaali saadab kitarr, trummid ja tihti ka basskitarr. Instrumendid on erinevates rock-muusika zanrites tihtipeale erinevad. Eesti keeles võib rock-muusikale kirjapildis viidata mitmel erineval moel. Kuigi enamasti tarvitatakse inglise keelest pärit lühendatud versiooni "rock", on korrektne kasutada kirjutamisel ka selliseid võimalusi nagu rokk, rokkmuusika ja rock-muusika. Rock-muusika juured peituvad 1950. aastate rock'n'roll'is, rockabilly's ja rhythm and blues's. 1960. aastatel tekkisid sulamzanrid folgi ja dzässiga. 1970. aastatel järgnes veel suurem rock'i piiride avardamine, mille tagajärjel tekkis juurde mitmeid rock'i alazanreid nagu soft...
United Kingdom AT115 Martin Pillai Early history • In 1066, the Normans invaded England from France • In 1603, the kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland were united in a personal union when James VI, King of Scots, inherited the crowns of England and Ireland and moved his court from Edinburgh to London • In the mid-17th century, all three kingdoms were involved in a series of connected wars, which led to the temporary overthrow of the monarchy and the establishment of the short-lived unitary republic of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Ireland. Acts of Union • On 1 May 1707, the united Kingdom of Great Britain came into being, the result of Acts of Union being passed by the parliaments of England and Scotland to ratify the 1706 Treaty of Union and so unite the two kingdoms • The term "United Kingdom" became officia...

From 28 to 27. What is the long-term consequence of the UK leaving the European Union? There is no question that the United Kingdom leaving the European Union or Brexit as we all know it, is a big hit for the EU and the UK. It’s by no means an easy process and a lot of people are against it, but today nothing can be done to stop it. Even though Brexit is seen by its leaders as a positive change, it will also have quite a negative effect on Britain and play a big role in reshaping European Union. Most British people were voting for Brexit to regain sovereignty, to ‘take back control’ and regulate their laws. At first glance, it may seem that they would be in charge of their actions which would mean that nobody on the outside can manipulate them. Although nowadays countries depend on each other a lot and the UK is no exception. Everything is more connected than ever and because of that existing completely on your own is quite an impos...
