Unusual animals

I slaid I am going to talk about strange animals that live in Australia. II slaid Australian kangaroos are the most famous Australian animals, and they belong to the most recognisable icons in the world. Australians call them 'roos' and they can be found in all parts of Australia, not just in the Outback. Their young are called joeys. All kangaroos are herbivores and only eat plants. The biggest enemies of kangaroos are humans. III slaid The Koala is one of Australia's best known animals. It is an icon represented when promoting Australia to the tourist industry. Koalas are mainly found in the south east Australia. Koalas are often referred to as a Koala bear. However they are not a bear. The name Koala comes from an Aboriginal word. It means "no drink", as Koalas get enough fluids through the eucalyptis leaves they feed on. They do not move around much and are only active for about 2 hours of the day. Natural zones and flora of Australia

Natural Zones and Flora. There are five distinguishable natural zones in Australia. In the very east there are wet forests (1.) that occupy the space between the Great Dividing Range and the eastern coast. Westward from the Great Dividing Range the wet forests give place to beautiful grasslands with some trees . These grasslands are called the savannas (2.). Farther west the trees disappear and the bushlands (3.) begin. The real desert (4.) occupies the centre of the Western Plateau. In the very southwest there are thin forests of evergreen trees (5.). Most of Australian trees are kinds of eucalyptus trees (or gum trees to Australians) and acacia ( wattle to Australians). Eucalyptus trees are found everywhere in Australia. There are many kinds of them and they greatly differ in size. One kind, the great mountain ash, can grow to 120 metres and it grows in the wet forests in the eastern part of the continent. These strong trees do not d...

The Dog fence

The Dog Fence When you think about the world's longest manmade structures, China and Great Britain (Stonehenge) spring to mind. Very rarely does the Australian continent get a mention, which is a shame, because the Dog Fence, or Dingo Fence, is the longest structures on earth. The Dingo Fence is a barrier that was built in Australia during the 1880s and finished in 1885.This fence was built only on one purpose: to stop dingoes (Australia’s wild dogs) from killing sheep. It is one of the longest structures on the planet, and the world's longest fence. it’s 3,307 miles long. That makes about 5,320 km. That is about two and a half times longer than the Great Wall of China. The fence starts near the coast of Great Australian Bight and ends up in the eastern part of Queensland in the Bunya Mountains, not far from the Pacific Ocean. At the time, it was the longest man-made structure in the world. It was ...

The country of my dreams

The country of my dreams The counrty of my dreams is Australia. It lies in the Southern Hempishere between the Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean. One of the resones why i like Australia is its nature. It is recognized as a megadiverse counrty. Its isolation from other continets explains much of the strangeness of its animal and plant life. There are a lot of interesting animals like kangaroos, koalas and wombats and birds like emus and kookaburras. Australia is a highly developed country. It has the sixth largest per capita income in the world. It is said that Melbourne is the world's most liveable cities. Another reason why Australia appeals fo me, is its beautiful beaches and climate. Winters are mils and summers are hot and sunny. Australia's beaches are always full of surfers, and one day i hope i will be one of them . Australians have a very good quality of life. There are a lot of universities, where to ...

When in Rome do as Romans do

When in Rome do as Romans do Australia is located in the South-East of the world and there is very warm, now there is approximately 30°C. Australia has a population of almost 20 million people and they speak in English. Half of the people there are christians. One of the only things I knew about australia are that there is very warm and there are a lot of kangaroos. In Australia the appearance of people is very formal. Men wear dark business suit and a tie, women may wear a dress or a scirt and blouse. For casual clothing there are pants for both men and women. Australians are friendly and open, but directness and punctuality is very important. They maintain good eye contact during conversations. They bring small gift of chocolate, wine or flowers if invited to someone's home, but gift giving is not very common in bussiness. They avoid littering and when approaching a queue, they go to the end and wait their tu...

The letter to Australia

3 Aprill 2011 Hi Nipitiri! It's been such a long time that I haven't written to you ! Don't worry, it doesn't mean that I had forgotten you. I hope that You had a great time in Australia. I have never been in Australia, so I want to ask some question from you. I hope you don't mind and you will have a time to respond to the letter. I have heard that there is a weird and wonderful musical instrument called a didgeridoo. Did you saw it? How it looks? And how they play it? I'll like if you will talk to me about it. It seems a very interesting instrument. Australins have a strong sense of humour and I have read that they will tell anti-English jokes to the English, anti-lawyer jokes to the lawyers and anti- mother-in-law jokes to mothers-in-law. Is is true? Did Australians laugh about you? They are very easy-going by nature. They pu...

Essay about NewZealand and Australia

In my essay I will describe the most characteristic features of the Maori people and the aborigines. I will divide the essay in 3 parts the Maori people, the aborigines and their comparison. Maori are the host people of New Zealand. Their name is derived from Ma-Uri which means the children of heaven. The arrival of the Maori people to New Zealand is considered to be somewhat of a mystery. It is known that first Polynesians arrived to New Zealand about 1000 years ago, when navigator Kupe discovered the land in 950 AD. He named it Aotearoa The Land of the Long White Cloud. Although these facts can be debatable, I will focus my attention on this interpretation of Maori history. After the Maori arrived to New Zealand, they started to develop into tribes and sub tribes, this tribal system is still in use. Their culture had almost no influence from the rest of the world. They evolved a culture endorsed by agriculture and hunting. Of cour...

Sixty million years ago Australia and its nearby islands were separated from the rest of the world by a great upheaval. They were cut off from Asia by the ocean. There are also many different seas around Australia, like the Coral and the Tasman Seas in the west or the Timor and the Arafura Seas in the north, where the Indian and the Pacific Oceans meet.
