Artikli autoriteks on Weizhong Sua, Chaolin Gub, Guishan Yanga, Shuang Chena, Feng Zhenc. Maastiku muutust seostatakse linnastumisega, eriti valglinnastumisega, mis on olnud viimase poole sajandi vältel märkimisväärne ning selle nähtuse kasvu ennustatakse veel mitmeks tulevaks aastakümneks. Lewandowski - A patient in the Catholic hospital where Paul and Kropp recuperate from their wounds. Lewandowski desperately wants to have sex with his visiting wife but is confined to bed because of a minor fever. Mittelstaedt - One of Paul's classmates. Mittelstaedt becomes a training officer and enjoys tormenting Kantorek when Kantorek is conscripted as a Paul Bäumer As the novel's narrator and protagonist, Paul is the central figure in All Quiet on the Western Front and serves as the mouthpiece for Remarque's meditations about war. Throughout the novel, Paul's inner personality is contrasted with the way the war forces him to act and feel. His memories of the time before the war show that he was once a very different man from the despairing soldier who now narrates the novel. Paul is a compassionate and sensitive young man; before the war, he loved his family and wrote poetry. Because of the horror of the war

The 13th Dalai Lama proclaimed Tibet independent in 1913, but this declaration was not accepted by China. Furthermore, Tibet was not recognized by any country as a de jure independent nation. As a measure of the power that regents must have wielded, it is important to note that only three of the fourteen Dalai Lamas have actually ruled Tibet; regents ruled during 77 percent of the period from 1751 until 1960.The Communist Party of China gained control of central and western Tibet after a decisive military victory at Chamdo in 1950. The 14th Dalai Lama fled to India in 1959. Today, Tibet is part of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in reality and claimed by the Republic of China (ROC) in its constitution , while a small part, according to the PRC and the ROC, is controlled by India. Both sides of Chinese government regard Tibet as part of China. Currently, Beijing and the Government of Tibet in Exile disagree over when Tibet became a

Halloweeni teemaline kiri

Halloween, or Hallowe'en, is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31.Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses" and carving jack-o-lanterns. The term Halloweenis shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day", which is now also known as All Saints' Day. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century. Halloween is celebrated in several parts of the Western world, most commonly in Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom and occasionally in parts of Australia and New Zealand. The symbols are pumpkin, mythical monsters, black cats, scarecrows. Before you can enjoy Halloween you must do a lot of preparations. Like making the holiday decoration. Eesti ajalugu

This period was one of great cultural advancement.Estonia underwent a number of economic, social, and political reforms necessary to come to terms with its new status as a sovereign state. Economically and socially, land reform in 1919 was the most important step. Large estate holdings belonging to the Baltic nobility were redistributed among the peasants and especially among volunteers in the War of Independence. Estonia's principal markets became Scandinavia, Great Britain, and western Europe, with some exports to the United States and Soviet Union. In World War II Estonia suffered huge losses. Ports were destroyed, and 45% of industry and 40% of the railways were damaged. Estonia's population decreased by one-fifth (about 200,000 people).More than 30,000 soldiers were killed in battles. In 1944 Russian air raids destroyed Narva, and one-third of the residential area in Tallinn was destroyed

Introduction tallinnasse

As an important port for trade between Russia and Scandinavia, it became a target for the expansion of the Teutonic Knights and the Kingdom of Denmark. Historically, the city has been attacked, sacked, razed and pillaged on numerous occasions. Although extensively bombed by Soviet airforces during the latter stages of World War II, much of the medieval Old Town still retains its charm. Since independence, improving air and sea transport links with Western Europe and Estonia's accession to the European Union have made Tallinn easily accessible to tourists. SIGHTSEEING The main attractions are in the two old towns, Lower Town and Toompea, which are both easily explored on foot. Eastern districts around Pirita and Kadriorg are also worth visiting and the Estonian Open Air Museum near Rocca al Mare, west of the city, preserves aspects of Estonian rural culture and architecture. Tekkis COUNTRY & WESTERN MUUSIKA.

was forcibly imposed on the local population. Danish rule of Tallinn and Northern Estonia started in 1219. In 1285 the city became the northernmost member of the Hanseatic League - a military alliance of German-dominated cities inNorthern Europe. The Danes sold Tallinn along with their other land possessions in northern Estonia to the Teutonic Knights in 1346. Medieval Tallinn enjoyed a strategic position at the crossroads of trade between Western and Northern Europe and Russia. The city, with a population of 8,000, was very well fortified with city walls and 66 defence towers. During the Great Northern War the Swedish troops based in Tallinn capitulated to Imperial Russia in 1710, but the local self-government institutions retained their cultural and economical autonomy within Imperial Russia as the Duchy of Estonia. The Magistracy of Reval was abolished in 1889

Estonian culture

country's rare Finno-Ugric national language Estonian, with mainstream Nordic and European cultural aspects. Due to its history and geography, Estonia's culture has been influenced by the traditions of the adjacent area's various Finnic, Baltic, Slavic and Germanic peoples as well as the cultural developments in the former dominant powers Sweden and Russia. Traditionally, Estonia has been seen as an area of rivalry between western and eastern Europe on many levels. An example of this geopolitical legacy is an exceptional combination of nationally recognized Christian traditions: a western Protestant and an eastern Orthodox Church. Like the mainstream culture in the other Nordic countries, Estonian culture can be seen to build upon the ascetic environmental realities and traditional livelihoods, a heritage of comparatively widespread egalitarianism out of practical reasons (see e.g.: Everyman's right and

The anthem of Australia is called `Advance Australia Fair'. It was officially declared the national anthem on 19 April 1984. Peter Dodds McCormick, a Scot, composed `Advance Australia Fair' under the pen-name `Amicus' (amicus is the Latin word for friend). `God Save the Queen' was the anthem before it. It was first performed in Sydney on Saint Andrew's Day, 1878. Peter McCormick died in 1916 and `Advance Australia Fair' became free of copyright in 1966

Their only weapons were stone knives, simple spears and boomerangs. They raised no crops and had no herds of tame animals. For food they hunted and fished and gathered wild fruits and nuts. But their tribes had wery well-worked-out customs. A few aborigines still live in the emptier part of the continent and follow the thousands-of-years-old customs of their ancestors. The Discovery of Australia Duch sailors stopped at several places on the northern and western coasts in the 1600s. They brought back word that the land was "of very little use". No wonder they had that idea. The northern shores of Australia are near enough to the equator to be very hot. They get a great deal of rain. The hot, wet climate is one that white people cannot stand well. Much of the western coast is dry and barren. There is a great desert in Australia, and it comes down to the sea on the western and southern coasts.

United States of America. Just 56 years ago African Americans had to sit in the back of busses, because they were not allowed to sit with white people. They were discriminated because of the color of their skin. Today, the president of the United States of America, is an African American man. In a little more than 50 years, the equality between people of all skin colors has grown a lot bigger. Although much of the western countries have made giant leaps in equality, there are still many countries, where discrimination between people exists. For example, in many Arabic countries, women have very little rights and their lives are dictated by men. They can't go out, without being accompanied by a man, they are forced to wear clothes that cover their entire bodies and they have no political rights. Even though western countries, including Estonia, have made great advances in providing

Other Lakes are L.Eyre and L.Mackay. Climate The seasons in Australia are the opposite of ours. It has summer while we have winter and the other way round. Australia has 4 climate zones: temperate, subtropical, tropical, equatorial. The northern shores are very hot, cause being close to the equator and the northern part gets plenty of rain. The western coast is dry and barren. In most parts of Autralia rainfall is very low. History Two hundred years ago, there were no white men in Australia, except the dark-skinned native Australians, called the Aborigines. Their only weapons were stone knives, simple spears and boomerangs. They raised no crops and had no herds. For food, they hunted and fished and gathered wild fruits and nuts

Womenrights essee

apply to everyone, to make life worthy for all to live it. No woman complains, or atleast they shouldn't complain, because there are people with bigger problems than a horny boss laying his hands on bodyparts he shouldn't. Only positive side, of the nations where women are without rights, is the fact, that almost any arabian guy can have sex with a random woman, what is far from what's going on here, in the west. Women have the right to choose partners. It is interesting to know, that western men tend to be homosexual more often and I blame picky women leaving poor guys no other option than being gay or rapeist. Women status in worlds furthest places are very different from eachother - who respects them, who takes women as slaves; who loves one wife, who enjoys fourty wives. No one can go and make other nations change their cultures ancient ways, if they don't want to. Maybe someday every person on this planet will be equal, but not today and probably not tomorrow.

Canada

It is over 600,000 sq kilometers larger than the United States. Over 5,000 km of border separate Canada and the United States. Canada does not have nearly as many people as the United States, it has only a tenth as many. Its climate helps to explain why there are so few people in so big land. The northern part of Canada is called Eskimo land and there are very cold winters. Only in the southern part and the west coast is the climate as mild as in the western part of the United States. During the Ice Age almost all of Canada was covered time after time whit great sheets of ice. These sheets carried away much of Canada's soil to the United States. Parts of Canada were first settled by the French, part of it by the English. Picturesque Quebec is the most French, of Canada's big cities. Canada's largest city, Montreal, is also largely French. Next to Paris in France it is the largest French- speaking city in the world.

The Giant Eland

rarely display aggression, even during the breeding season. Giant Eland are alert and wary, making them difficult to approach and observe. They move quickly, running at over 70 km/h (42 mph), and despite their size are exceptional jumpers, easily clearing heights of 1.5 m (5 ft). Giant Eland live in open forest and savannah where they eat grass, leaves, and branches. Their primary predators are the Lion and Spotted Hyena. Broad-leafed savanna and glades in two isolated pockets in central and western Africa. It is estimated that only 2500 Western giant elands remain in the wild today. Populations have declined due to excessive hunting, habitat destruction for agricultural expansion, and disease. The last surviving population is said to be protected in the Niokolo-Koba National Park. During dry seasons they are able to live for weeks without water. Mating usually occurs during the wet season. Males compete using their horns for dominance, and the dominant male will mate with several females
