Men and women in politics

Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Demark; 15 percent or less are seen in parliaments within ten countries . Over the years, women had to protest and fight for this right so that young women today can vote and have a say so in who represents the people of our city, state, and country. A woman's influence in politics has yet to be recognized as a true political voice of women that actually yields power. Perceptions of women and politics from the media, society, men, and even women themselves have shaped women's ability everywhere to participate politically and socially within our society. The United States, as well as many other countries, has various beliefs regarding the role of women in the political arena. The United States has shown how the political role of a woman has evolved, over time, into a more powerful one. On the other hand, a woman seeking a powerful position, such as a political platform, is looked down upon in most countries

Are men better directors than women ?

Name: Chlen Zhopov Subject: Essay Are men better directors than women ? It is common that top executives in big companies are mostly men. But does that necessarily mean that women are not suitable for such responsible, effort and leadership demanding jobs? I do not think so. First of all, I would like to say that this tradition is coming not only from history, but from evolution. In nature, masculine representatives of most species are stronger, more agile and aggressive than feminine representatives, because their biological function is to be the main

Gender equality in higher positions of companies

Many high-level positions in companies are filled by men even though the workforce in many developed countries is more than 50 percent female. Companies should be required to allocate a certain percentage of these positions to women. To what extent do you agree? In the 21st century it is all about gender equality and every individual wants to achieve high level position in their work place. In the past, women, in many societies, had less rights and privileges than men. The statement says that companies should give a certain number of higher positions to women. However, I do not agree with this requirement completely. Giving a certain percent of higher positions to women certainly is an easy solution but in my opinion it will bring even more sexism. It shows that women are somehow weaker, fragile and need help for everything. And this on the other hand, will cause a situation where females will receive

Chocolate addiction

Chocolate addiction Anete Samelselg 2015 What is this addiction A person who is addicted to chocolate is called chocoholic. A chocoholic is a person who craves chocolate. There is some medical evidence to support the existence of actual addiction to chocolate. However, the term is mostly used loosely or humorously to describe a person who is inordinately fond of chocolate. The chocolate addiction happens mostly with women because they eat more emotionally than men. Why do people get addicted to it The essential components of addiction are intense craving for something, loss of control over the use of it, and continued use despite negative consequences. Studies have shown that people can exhibit all three of these components in relation to food, particularly food that contains sugar or fat. Since chocolate contains both, it is often used in studies of food addiction. Why it's bad Eating too much chocolate is bad because it's not healthy food

Report

According to the latest Census, the aim of this report is to figure out how much time people spend on household chores. The following points give us a good overview how men and women do it in Estonia. This report was commissioned by the Estonian Department of Statistics. It can be seen from the chart that both men and women spend about eight hours on household chores in Estonia. Men spend most of their time on building and making repairs. Less than an hour of their time is spent on gardening and pet care. Moreover men also like cooking and laundry in spite of losing their manhood. As expected, women occupy most of their time on child care. However it is surprising that they spend nearly one fifth on building. The reason for this may be due to men having more jobs outside of the home, earning money for the family.

Men tend to have a "fight or flight" response to stress situations while women seem to approach these situations with a "tend and befriend" strategy. Psychologist Shelley E. Taylor coined the phrase "tend and befriend" after recognizing that during times of stress women take care of themselves and their children (tending) and form strong group bonds (befriending). The reason for these different reactions to stress is rooted in hormones. The hormone oxytocin is released during stress in everyone

Womenrights essee

The Status of Women in The World For a long time, through the history of human kind, women have fought for their rights. Issue of women rights and women status has always been discussed and there are many different points of view on this problem. In civilized community you are taught to respect human being as an equal to yourself. It just happens to be, that many eastern regions of men are not as happy as western nations, about the idea of leaving the wonderful life, in which they could tell a random female to strip and make them happy, for a life of begging for the thing they have been getting so easily. In europe a wife in a household is irreplaceable. No man is capable of raising children, cleaning, cooking, ironing and making money at the same time, thus men and women have divided their duties. Usually couple living together also provides eachother

Level of education

Level of education The aim of the report is to analyze the level of education of men and women in Estonia at the turn of the century. A secondary education is by far the most popular level of education. This shows that it is a centric way to cover ground in life. A significant number of men have basic education. This implies that most men prefer not to pursue education. In case of women, they want to get a better education. This is demonstrated by the fact that only 18 % of women have basic education. A large proportion of women have chosen secondary vocational. This indicates that is chosen an occupation, which suggest a fixed income. A higher level of education is not certainly necessary. This is illustrated by the fact that about 6 % of people have elementary education. A small number of men and women have no schooling

his ill mother) when he feels himself pulled down by emotion. These surging feelings indicate the extent to which war has programmed Paul to cut himself off from feeling, as when he says, with devastating understatement, "Parting from my friend Albert Kropp was very hard. But a man gets used to that sort of thing in the army." Paul's experience is intended to represent the experience of a whole generation of men, the so-called lost generation--men who went straight from childhood to fighting in World War I, often as adolescents. Paul frequently considers the past and the future from the perspective of his entire generation, noting that, when the war ends, he and his friends will not know what to do, as they have learned to be adults only while fighting the war. The longer that Paul survives the war and the more that he hates it, the less certain he is that life will be better for him after it ends

Reflective Statement Antigone

Johanna Merirand Reflective Statement How was your understanding of the cultural and contextual considerations of the work developed during your interactive oral? My comprehension of the traditions and culture of the ancient Greek was substantially enhanced through the discussion we had on the conflict between men and nature in Antigone by Sophocles. The two main characters in the play are Antigone and Creon, who both are motivated by their hubris and the need for glory. In the play, Antigone rebels against the rules set out by Creon, when she attempts to bury her brother even though it has been prohibited by the state. Antigone is sentenced with a death penalty, which is found unreasonable by many of the other members of the society.

American Literature Character Sketch-The Great Gatsby-Daisy

Character Sketch – Daisy The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Daisy Buchanan is a beautiful young woman from Louisville. She is the cousin of the novel’s narrator Nick Carrayway and the love interest of Jay Gatsby. She is married to an extremely rich and arrogant man called Tom Buchanan. Tom and Nick are acquaintances from college. Daisy-s appearance and the long-lasting impression she left on men is described through her voice by her cousin Nick. I looked back at my cousin, who began to ask me questions in her low, thrilling voice. It was the kind of voice that the ear follows up and down, as if each speech is an arrangement of notes that will never be played again. Her face was sad and lovely with bright things in it, bright eyes and a bright passionate mouth, but there was an excitement in her voice that men who had cared for her found difficult to forget: a singing compulsion.

Christopher Columbus

He didn't get to go to school very much, but he learned to read and write Spanish during his travels. He also taught himself Latin because all the geography books were written in Latin. He was a navigator, colonizer and explorer. He wanted to find a short way to get to the Indies by ship. He tried for eight years to get King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella to supply him with ships and money. Finally they agreed. In 1492 Christopher left from Spain with a crew of 90 men and a fleet of three ships. His three ships were called the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María. There were 24 men on the Niña, 26 men on the Pinta, and 40 men on the Santa María. The Niña and the Pinta were caravels. The Santa María was a larger and slower-sailing supply ship. They left Spain on August 3, 1492. They made one stop, then sailed on toward the west. Two days later they saw land; an island Columbus named San Salvador.

Military service – pros and cons

In addition, there are also positive sides for people. People can get some useful skills, invaluable experience and a great physical condition with everyday training. There is also a big chance to get some good friends from military after being together almost a year. Yet, the year off could give time for thinking for those, who don`t know what to do with their lives. On the other hand, military service has its disadvantages. Not everyone is suitable for military and some men couldn`t manage that pressure. Yet, in democratic countries people should have a chance to choose their destiny by themselves and army restrics our freedom. Besides, the young men are isolated from real world and being away from family and friends could affect their lives. In addition, young people are putting their lives at risk despite the fact that everything seems to be safe. Military service has always been an important subject. Woman and management

I think that it was pretty fair that women were only at home in action with children at this time, because business were not so developed as the whole society. Good sence of authority, ability to take risks and decisiveness which are akin to men´s characteristics were good to lay the foundation for business. But also I think that going to business should not be forbidden to women. The advent of the indrustial revolution and during the World Wars, while men were at the front, women took charge of the factory work and many other practical jobs. Thanks to suffragettes, women became enfranchised. Nowadays women are successfully pursuaded in a senior management. I think that bringing justice into business is justified, because many skills of a good modern manager - good communication skills, thoroughness, cooperativeness and a willingness to consult - are more likely to be found in women than in men.

How it is done, is also shown (although I must admit that my current education did not allow me to understand all the details of the methods used) and a lot of research poured into finding out what it is that random people find "sounding gay" or "sounding heterosexual". The articles have a nine year gap, and the newer, written 2015 also mentions Munson et al's research several times. One of the main differences between the researches is that while Munson et al included bisexual men and women, and also Lesbians, Erik.C. Tracy worked solely with the topic of gay men. Both, however, did their research on American English. As to the conclusions: * Yes, listeners can distinguish between LGB and heterosexual men and women. * Listeners rely more on vowels than consonants, and of those, only few. * The /s/ is the most important consonant when making a judgment. Estonian War of Independence

Germany. On November 16 the Commander-in-Chief of the Red Army, Jukums Vacietis, gave orders to start a massive attack on a long front from the Gulf of Finland to the Ukraine. On November 28, two divisions of the Red Army (altogether 12,000 troops) crossed the Estonian border. The War of Independence had begun. The situation of the Estonian Republic was rather desperate. Organizing of the army had just begun and less than 2,000 men could be sent to the front (without a single cannon). However, the Government headed by Prime Minister Konstantin Päts decided not to give up without a fight. During the first month of war Estonian soldiers were forced to retreat and the Red Army was able to occupy North- and South-Eastern Estonia. The university town of Tartu soon fell to the Red Army and in the beginning of January 1919 the enemy was just 40 kilometers from Tallinn (the capital of Estonia).
