Life in Estonia through the eyes of an economics student

Life in Estonia through the eyes of an economics student I have been studying economics for a few months now and I would not say that my point of view on life in Estonia has changed. There are some things I recently started to look on differently but I am not sure is it because of TUT or not. Through my entire life I have seen Estonia as a strong and fast growing country which is also a fact because Estonian economy was one of the fastest growing in the world until 2006 with growth rates even exceeding 10% annually. I find it being quite impressive. There are some fields which Estonia can fill with supplies by itself. We are nearly energy independent country, supplying over 90% of our electricity need with locally mined oil shale. Estonia has also an alternative energy sources such as wood and peat. I could call myself earth friendly because I love walking around the forest and breading some fresh air but I do not li...

Pros and Cons of Homeschooling

Pros and Cons of Homeschooling Hello! My name is Sander and today I talk about Homeschooling. Homeschooling is becoming more popular every day, with a growth rate of 7 percent per year. There are about two million children currently learning at home. Homeschooled kids do well on standardized tests and are welcome at colleges and universities. Pros: Individual teaching attention Continuous population growth is leading to overcrowded schools in many areas. Add this to the recent economic struggles, with many schools laying off teachers or closing altogether. This means that teachers are more overwhelmed than ever, often handling classes of 40 or more children at a time. Personalized learning Another important consideration in the pros and cons of homeschooling is your ability to tailor lesson plans to your child

Introduction to macroeconomics

interest rates, exchange rates, and the rate of inflation. · Businesses stand to gain or lose considerable amounts of money when their economic environment changes, regardless of how well they are managed. Macroeconomics is relevant to voters who · wonder what their governments are up to · can also help governments avoid the worst economic crises Economic growth is one of the most exciting issues in macroeconomics. The list of reasons why economies grow: · population increase, since more people can produce more output. · accumulation of means of production: plant and equipment, roads, communication networks, and other forms of infrastructure make workers more productive. Most important is the development and harnessing of knowledge to economic ends.

fire use. The maquis shrub savannas of the Mediterranean region were likewise created and maintained by anthropogenic fire. These fires are usually confined to the herbaceous layer and do little long term damage to mature trees. However, these fires do serve to either kill or suppress tree seedlings, thus preventing the establishment of a continuous tree canopy which would prevent further grass growth. Prior to European settlement aboriginal land use practices, including fire, influenced vegetation and may have maintained and modified savanna flora. It has been suggested by many authors that aboriginal burning created a structurally more open savanna landscape. Aboriginal burning certainly created a habitat mosaic that probably increased biodiversity and changed the structure of woodlands and geographic range of numerous woodland species. It has been

fiscal and monetary policies, has contributed to a controlled reduction in the rate of inflation. The annual inflation rate has decreased from a high of 80.2% in 1991 to 7.9% in 1998. inflation for FY1998/99 was 6.2% compared to 7.2% in the corresponding period in CUU1997/98. The Government remains committed to lowering inflation, with a long-term objective of bringing it in line with that of its major trading partners. After a period of steady growth from 1985 to 1995, real GDP (gross domestic product) decreased by 1.8% and 2.4% in 1996 and 1997, respectively. The decrease in GDP in 1996 and 1997 was largely due to significant problems in the financial sector and, in 1997, a severe island-wide drought (the worst in 70 years) that drastically reduced agricultural production. In 1997, nominal GDP was approximately J$220,556.2 million (US$6,198.9 million based on the average annual exchange rate of the period).

Union, therefore there is a big gap between different social layers. Estonians average monthly wage is 792 EUR, which means that the average monthly wage is bigger only than in Latvia. Other European Union countries have higher average monthly wages. Small salary is accompanie by aging. That is because families with smaller income do not want to have children, because they can not adequately care for them. That is the reason why the growth of population is so low. In conclusion I would like to say that even though Estonia has put much effort into developing it's IT-sector, its wages still are below the European average. That results in other problems as for example to dropping of the population growth. Estonia is still developing and there is still a long way to go, to catch up to other European countries.

How to make the world greener

Mars to start contaminating them also. Countries like China have taken measures to stop the population. A chinese family can only have one child and if they go above the limit they have to pay a fine even though richer families don't care much for that. So even though there's a very big fine about 90´000 families have gone over the limit and are under investigation. If we would all think globally instead of just ourselves or our country, we could keep the population growth under control. Countries who only think of rising their population percentage in the world listings do encourage families in having more children, but if instead of being a patriot of your country, why not be a patriot of the World?

preservation of our planet the situation is only getting worse. Firstly, the ever growing need for energy is taking its toll on the environment. Due to the fast growth of the economical and industrial sector in recent years the need for energy has grown dramatically. Global warming which is responsible for the melting of the ice cap which leads to the rise of sea level is mainly caused by the high use of fossil fuels. Secondly, over-consumption caused by population growth on Earth leads to pollution which is becoming highly dangerous to the environment. The decomposition of materials used nowadays is often hundreds of years long. Unfortunately the number of reusable products is getting smaller by the day. Often the reusable product is also less affordable to the consumer which ends up taking a toll at the environment due to the lack of financial security in the economical state the world id in at the moment.

Traditional uses In recent years it has been found that taxol, a chemical found in the bark of the yew, inhibits cell growth and cell division, and may have some promise in the fight against cancer. It was also one of the most important trees in the history of European warfare, as its wood was used exclusively for the making of the longbows, spears and dagger handles. In the past they were used as landmarks, because of their size and longevity, and their dark branches would make them stand out in the landscape. “Foreign direct investments in the Estonian economy”

Currently Estonia ranks third after Hungary and the Czech Republic by per capita indicators of the inflow of foreign direct investments. Presumably, the experience of our recent past provides sufficient data to analyze how foreign direct investments impact on different aspects of the economic restructuring process in Estonia." Urmas Varblane Foreign investments Sound and liberal economic policies and excellent business climate has ensured a continuous growth of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Estonia. During the last 15 years Estonia has been one of the leading countries in Central and Eastern Europe in terms of inward investment per capita. Numerous foreign companies have found Estonia to be a highly attractive location. Companies partly or wholly owned by foreigners account for one-third of Estonian GDP and over 50 percent of the country`s exports. The general trends in foreign direct investment inflows can be summarized as follows:

EDUCATING THE STUDENT BODY

Name: EDUCATING THE STUDENT BODY Harold W. Kohl, III and Heather D. Cook. Being physically active every day is important for the healthy growth and development of preschoolers. Childhood mobility has an impact on physical development, the development of risk factors for several chronic diseases and the future quality of life. Based on today's knowledge, physical activity is essential for young people to achieve optimal growth and physical development, to prevent some health problems, as well as to social and mental development. Children who are inactive and who spend too much time in front of a screen watching television, playing computer video games or talking or typing on their phones have an increased risk of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes. Inactivity may also adversely affect your child's muscle and bone development. However

Apple experts estimated the brand's value at $ 170.2 billion., which is 20k times higher than the similar estimate of 2005. In the second place stands Google, which rose from $8.4 million to $120.3 billion compared to 2005. The third line of the rating took Coca- Cola - the value of its brand was $ 78.4 billion. The top ten most expensive brands in 2015 as well as in 2005 included: Microsoft, IBM, Toyota and McDonald's. By comparing 2015 and 2005, I would definetely note the active growth of technology brands. In addition, so-called food brands such as Coca-Cola and McDonald's were in the Top 10 list as in 2005 as 2015. I would explain the impressive growth of technology brands so, because they significantly affect people's lives and how people interact and communicate with each other. Gross domestic product

If the price deflator is not known, an implicit price deflator can be calculated by dividing the nominal GDP by the real GDP: · Implicit Price Deflator = Nominal GDP / Real GDP The composition of this deflator is different from that of the consumer price index in that the GDP deflator includes government goods, investment goods, and exports rather than the traditional consumer-oriented basket of goods. GDP Growth Countries seek to increase their GDP in order to increase their standard of living. The growth in GDP does not result in increased purchasing power if the growth is due to inflation or population increase. · For purchasing power, it is the real, per capita GDP that is important. While investment is an important factor in a nation's GDP growth, even more important is greater respect for laws and contracts.

Carmen Kaljulaid 11 a World Hunger, Poverty & Famine: How They Fit Together 923 million people across the world are hungry. In essence, hunger is the most extreme form of poverty, where individuals or families cannot afford to meet their most basic need for food. Hunger manifests itself in many ways other than starvation and famine. Most poor people who battle hunger deal with chronic undernourishment and vitamin or mineral deficiencies, which result in stunted growth, weakness and heightened susceptibility to illness. Countries in which a large portion of the population battles hunger daily are usually poor and often lack the social safety nets we enjoy, such as soup kitchens, food stamps, and job training programs. When a family that lives in a poor country cannot grow enough food or earn enough money to buy food, there is nowhere to turn for help. Canada's climate and environment are one of the main reasons that Canada is such a succesful country. The blend of natural resources and climate sustains us. The seasons dictate the look of the land: according to whether the natural environment is in a state of dormancy or growth. Canada's climate is characterized by its diversity, as temperature and precipitation differ depending on where you are and what time of year it is. In 1660 the population of Jamaica was about 4 500 whites and some 1 500 blacks. As early as the 1670s, blacks formed a majority of the population. During its first 200 years of British rule, Jamaica became one of the world's leading sugar- exporting, slave-dependent nations, producing more than 77 000 tons of sugar annually between 1820 and 1824. The population in 1834 was 371 070 of whom 15 000 were white, 5 000 free black, 40 000 coloured or mixed race, and 311 070 slaves. Strong economic growth, averaging approximately 6% per annum, marked the first ten years of independence under conservative goverments which were led successively by Prime Ministers Alexander Bustamante, Donald Sangster and Hugh Shearer. The growth was fueled by strong investments in bauxite/alumina, tourism, manufacturing industry and, to a lesser extent, the agricultural sector. In order to be able to import all the products and services, something must be exported, that's why export holds such a prominent position for the Estonian economy and its growth. A couple of generations ago agriculture was the main occupation of the Estonians. Nowadays only about 4% of the workforce is engaged in agriculture. The 1990s was a hard time for agriculture competition with cheap imported products became an issue, enterprises had no money for new equipment and vehicles. state, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the Parliament of Fiji. Fiji, endowed with forest, mineral, and fish resources, is one of the more developed of the Pacific island economies, though still with a large subsistence sector. Natural resources include timber, fish, gold, copper, offshore oil potential, hydropower. Fiji experienced a period of rapid growth in the 1960s and 1970s but stagnated in the 1980s. The coup of 1987 caused further contraction. Economic liberalization in the years following the coup created a boom in the garment industry and a steady growth rate despite growing uncertainty of land tenure in the sugar industry. The expiration of leases for sugar cane farmers (along with reduced farm and factory efficiency) has led to a decline in sugar production despite a subsidized price. Subsidies for sugar have been

Art and Aesthetics in Early Childhood Education

a dimension of difference into a principle of separation" (p.106). The repertoire model of development in pictorial imagery moves beyond this principle and accommodates cognitive processes that result in pictorial systems contained within a graphic medium as well as those that cross traditional boundaries of music, drama, and visual arts. This broader conception of development is also more accommodating of cultural factors that define artistic growth than some of the earlier proposed models. The issue of a cultural bias in these earlier theories has vividly surfaced in recent studies that revisited the long- standing notion of the U-shaped curve of artistic development (Davis, 1991, 1997a, 1997b; Gardner, 1980; Gardner & Winner, 1982). The proponents of the U- shaped model argued that while young children exhibit very high levels of creativity in their pictorial work, older children and adolescents suffer from a serious

Global Warming

We started doing harmful things and only now do we realize what we have done and what we are doing. At this current rate by the middle of next century the Earth's temperature may rise a predicted from 2 to 6 degrees Celsius. This may not seem as much but with the Earth's delicate balance we will have lost several species and habitats. Scientists are worried that soon the effects of what we have done may be irreversible. This temperature increase would drastically affect the growth of many different crops and cause the polar ice caps to melt, therefore increasing sea levels to rise up by several metres. Warmer oceans cause more intense storms. Buildings and roads close to the water will be flooded and they could suffer damage from hurricanes and tropical storms. The effects of a warmer climate may begin to take its toll on people as well. Particularly those who are physically weaker are going to have a harsh life

Human overpopulation

increase will be in the less developed regions, with nearly half (49%) in Africa." Already strained with relentless population explosion, many developing countries, such as in Sub Saharan Africa and Southern Asia, will experience a degradation of their quality and length of life as they face increasing difficulties to supply water, food, energy and housing to their growing populations, which will have major repercussions for public health, security measures and economic growth. Increased Global Warming and Climate Change • According to the Center for Biological Diversity, "The largest single threat to the ecology and biodiversity of the planet in the decades to come will be global climate disruption due to the buildup of human-generated greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. • People around the world are beginning to address the problem by reducing their carbon footprint through less consumption and better technology.

3 Energy Dividends You Can Still Trust

[A] compelling dividend is a core element of our value proposition and we think it is still appropriate. We're continuing to drive positive momentum in our underlying financial returns, a key focus area for us especially in this lowprice environment. The company stands so steadfastly behind its dividend because it firmly believes that having a strong dividend forces it to be more disciplined. Practically, this means that it won't chase growth for the sake of growth and that it will maintain a strong balance sheet during good times and bad so that it has the flexibility to continue the payout. Another reason that ConocoPhillips remains confident that its dividend isn't going anywhere but up is its ability to quickly adapt to the current downturn. The company recently set its 2016 capex budget, which is 25% less than it spent last year and 55%

History of London 2

19: When did the first railway to be built in London open? The first railway to be built in London was the London and Greenwich Railway a short line from London Bridge to Greenwich, which opened in 1836. 20: What effects did the railways have on London? A new network of metropolitan railways allowed for the development of suburbs in neighboring counties from which middle-class and wealthy people could commute to the centre. While this spurred the massive outward growth of the city, the growth of greater London also exacerbated the class divide, as the wealthier classes emigrated to the suburbs, leaving the poor to inhabit the inner city areas.

The Future of Work or How Artificial Intelligence Will Affect Us in 20 years

in the future. For most of human history one ecomomic problem has dominated: how to make the economic pie large enough for everyone to live on. Go back to the turn of the first century AD, and if you took the global economic pie, and divided it up into equal slices for everyone in the world, everyone would get a few hundred dollars. And if you rolled forward a thousand years, roughly the same is true. But in the last few hundred years, economic growth has taken off. Those economic pies have exploded in size. The value of those individual slices of the pie today, the're about 10,150 dollars. If economic growth continues at two percent our children will be twice as rich as us. By in large, we've solved the traditional economic problem. With that solved problem has arosed antoher one how to make sure that everbody gets a slice. Solving this problem won't be easy.

OVERPOPULATION

Bad food and water quality or at all their lack of. Air pollution causes respiratory diseases. Garbage problem. Waste management is not organized. Many poor people. A lot of Unemployed Outbreaks and bad availability of medical care. Poor quality of education or no access to it at all. Not enough space of living Solutions Actually there is no complete solution. Theoretically education would help. Developed countries have negative population growth but developing countries have positive. Thank you for your attention!

Topic - London

An assassination attempt was made on him on the 5th of November in 1605, now known as the famous Gunpowder Plot. Plague caused more problems for London later in that century, culminating in the Great Plague. That was the last major outbreak in Europe, possibly thanks to the Great Fire of London in 1666. The fire broke out in the original City and quickly swept through London's wooden buildings, destroying large amounts of the city. Rebuilding took over ten years. Following London's growth in the 18th century, it became the worlds largest city from about 1831 to 1925. This growth was aided from 1836 by London's first railways, which put countryside towns within easy reach of the city. Rising traffic problems on roads led to the creation of the world's first subway system the London Underground. Because of this rapid growth, London became one of the first cities in human history to reach a population of one million and was the first ever to surpass five million
