The Life-Changing Competition

A life-changing competition Finally, it was the 1st May the final day of the Youth Rock Competition. Many student bands from all over the country were preparing for the final battle. The Raven wasn't an exception. The vocalist, Daemon, practiced the guitar, while the others tried to calm down from the pressure that was thickening the air. Matrix, the guitarist, had taken his little sister with him. While he himself was practicing with the Ravens, Alice sat amongst the public. Suddenly, someone shook her hand. The girl turned and saw one extravagant-looking woman. "You are Alice Owen, right? The legendary Billy Owen' s youngest daughter?" Alice smiled and nodded. "Yet I don't believe my father is a legend." "Well, for me he's an idol! I've always dreamed about his live-concert! And, now, finally, I can hear his singing!" "He's just opening the competition..."

Jane Austen

whichever he chooses of the girls; though I must throw in a good word for my little Lizzy." "I desire you will do no such thing. Lizzy is not a bit better than the others; and I am sure she is not half so handsome as Jane, nor half so good-humoured as Lydia. But you are always giving her the preference." "They have none of them much to recommend them," replied he; "they are all silly and ignorant like other girls; but Lizzy has something more of quickness than her sisters." "Mr. Bennet, how can you abuse your own children in such a way? You take delight in vexing me. You have no compassion for my poor nerves." "You mistake me, my dear. I have a high respect for your nerves. They are my old friends. I have heard you mention them with consideration these last twenty years at least." "Ah, you do not know what I suffer." "But I hope you will get over it, and live to see many young men of four thousand a year come into the neighbourhood."

One story

watching out for the things that were lying on the ground. "What are you doing, Laurel?" a sudden voice from somewhere behind called. The girl turned around and saw some blue stripes waving, but soon they were gone again. "Um, who is it?" she asked after a minute of silence, but the person who stood there was already gone. The next noise she heard were someone's fast, almost running feet on the stairs that led to her chamber-room. Soon the door opened and a warm hug followed it was her older sister, Mary. Laurel wanted to say `good morning!' like she always did, but something in sister's crying voice stopped her. "Oh poor Laurel!" said Mary, "When Elisa entered the kitchen and said you didn't notice her, I...I just..." And she started to cry, feeling very helpless at the moment. Laurel whispered then, "Don't be sad! I'm sure the doctor will help me! I feel like in a dream...it's so..." But she couldn't be strong any more and soon tears overhold her as well.

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:17 PREFACE I'd never given much thought to how I would die -- though I'd had reason enough in the last few months -- but even if I had, I would not have imagined it like this. I stared without breathing across the long room, into the dark eyes of the hunter, and he looked

Women writer's influence on our society

Women writer's influence on our society Estonian women writer's history doesn't go far back. The reason for that is that people were slaves back then. Even if there were writers, then most weren't famous and they wrote poems and stories more for themselves. Also being a woman and a writer wasn't considered as a decent job for a woman at that time. The stories that we have from that time were given to one another by talking and mostly we don't know who were the authors. Education was also very expensive so only rich people could get it and Estonians, who were just farmers, mostly didn't have money for that. First I am going to talk about Marie Heiberg. She lived 1890-1942. Her first poem collection was ,,Mure-lapse laulud" in translation ,,Problem child's songs". Her talent was noticed, but she didn't have a change to really become famous. She was in a great penury that made her life really though and she had a gentle soul. Thanks to all that in 1919 she was di

William Shakespeare - Hamlet

Enter KING CLAUDIUS, QUEEN GERTRUDE, HAMLET, POLONIUS, LAERTES, VOLTIMAND, CORNELIUS, Lords, and Attendants KING CLAUDIUS Though yet of Hamlet our dear brother's death The memory be green, and that it us befitted To bear our hearts in grief and our whole kingdom To be contracted in one brow of woe, Yet so far hath discretion fought with nature That we with wisest sorrow think on him, Together with remembrance of ourselves. Therefore our sometime sister, now our queen, The imperial jointress to this warlike state, Have we, as 'twere with a defeated joy,— With an auspicious and a dropping eye, With mirth in funeral and with dirge in marriage, In equal scale weighing delight and dole,— Taken to wife: nor have we herein barr'd Your better wisdoms, which have freely gone With this affair along. For all, our thanks. Now follows, that you know, young Fortinbras, Holding a weak supposal of our worth,
